Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

Derrick released a breath he hadn't known he'd been holding when he has spun around to see a Gaza-C spiral off to the left, his eyes widening in shock as another Gaza-C fired off a trio of shots, two of which tore off the rest of his left forearm.

"Sonnuva--!" yelped Derrick as he shot upwards to avoid gunfire from yet another Gaza-C. Shutting off the power to his left arm, he fired off as many shots as he could against the two Gaza-Cs, before his beam rifle ran out of juice, which, as it turned out, only had about six shots left. Cursing under his breath, he had no choice but to toss aside the spent rifle as he had no way to recharge it, and drew a beam saber from the saber recharge rack on his rear skirt armor, and rushed to intercept the Gaza-C that had taken his left arm, the beam saber sparking to life as he fired his thrusters.

"I'm not dying here, not today!" he roared, his saber thrust forward. "I won't rest... I can't rest until those Titans bastards are brought to justice... Now, OUTTA MY WAY!"

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Kwire Team -

Ens. Aldrich is finally able to control his Gaza's tumble and oriented his suit. He rockets in the direction of the Nemo which is behind Ens. Kell. With beam saber still in hand he attempts to come to his teammate's aid.

"I'm not dying here, not today! I **estt... I can't rest until those Titans bastards are brzztt** **rrt... Now, OUTTA MY WAY!"

"Titans.." Emmers repeats to himself as he thinks -they represent all that is evil in this universe

Ens. Kell was taken by surprise when the damaged Nemo decided to charge so he hurriedly pull out and ignited a beam saber as he aimed the knuckle buster with the Gaza's right arm. With the Nemo charging straight at him, a direct shot couldn't be missed but he braces himself anyway.

Having already lost Ens. Moore, both Kell and Aldrich were also rookies not to mention that their squad leader himself had yet to see a battle, Emmers didn't want to lose another pilot or prolong a fight in their condition. That, and 3 Hizacks were suddenly picked up at the edge of his sensor range.

Kell's suit was probably the only undamaged one of the three so if things continued it was gonna get ugly real soon. If only he had vets with him then this mess wouldn't have lasted five minutes. He accelerates to intercept the Nemo and fires two shots way in front to get its attention while he opens up a channel. "Kell, Aldrich, Stand down! AEUG pilot! Cease your attack! You're outnumbered and we're both in no condition to mess with the three Hizacks that are approaching. Retreat to your lines and we'll back off."

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

"K**llzzz***ichzt, Stand down! AEUG pilot! Cease your attack! You're outnumbered and we're both in no condition to mess with the three **zzzacks that are approaching. Retreat to your lines and we'll back off."

Derrick was caught off guard when one of the Gaza-C pilots had not only interfered, but also hailed him, telling him to retreat of all things, but there was sense in his words. He glanced at the Gaza-C in front of him, who had stopped, at least for now. He looked at the Gaza-C that had fired at him, and said nothing.

He scanned his HUD once more, and took off in the direction of the nearest friendly signals. If the flashes of light he saw were of any indication, they needed backup. The question was, who were they? Was it the rest of his team? The group they had been dispatched to reinforce? Regardless of who it was, they were allies, and they needed help. While he wasn't exactly in the best of shape himself, he'd do what he could to help.

As he flew along, he made sure to be mindful of his surroundings; Who knew if the Hizacks were still pursuing him, or if the team of Gazas intercepted them? He didn't, and that's what kept him on edge.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Gamma Team–

Closer and closer Aaron got to Irene’s Rick Dias. He was ready to pull the trigger and let a stream of 120mm death rain down on her, but then he saw the situation with the Hi-Zack team in close proximity. If he were Nick, he'd have simply gunned them all down just to take out one AEUG pilot. But that's not who he was.

Bringing the Barzam X-2 to a halt, Aaron searches for another target. Taking a quick look at the fuel gauge doesn't easy his mind. But what worries him most is what he sees on the IFF.

"OH S**T!" He yells as the presence of Beta Team in the area could mean only one thing. "We're F***ED!"

-Boxoro Team-

"Make some noise Tim, keep 'em focused on us!"

"Don't have to worry about that Tyler," the Mudra Team Gaza's had turned to attack them already, "Here they come!"

One of the Axis machines peeled apart as it collided with one of their beam blasts, evening the numbers up. And the fire coming there way was inaccurate to boot, making it much easier to retaliate.

Taking aim at Raymont's Gaza-C with the Marasai's beam rifle, Tim let two shots go in quick succession as he put some distance between him and the attacking suits. More Beam fire began to come in their direction from a flood of reinforcements in the area.

"Shoot, I think we need to regroup!"

-Team 2-

“Great. I think the Hamburgers are still pushing toward those Axis’ ships, so let’s go give ‘em a hand and hit those f***in’ ships if we can.”

Following Eckardy's orders, Sophie brought the C-type into formation as they headed towards the Hamburg Team.

"Hey..team 2, we ...... here, like right now."

The transmission was a bit garbled but sounded urgent none the less. Bernard pulled ahead with his faster B-type and she switched to her cannon to see if she could put a shell into any Axis suits. But at this distance it was too risky, she could easily hit one of the Hamburg Team.

-Bindra Team–

Nikolai fell in with the team as they moved in for the attack on the Hamburg Team's Nemos. He suddenly felt a great swell of pride in his heart, patriotic even. He could swear it was such an intense feeling that he could hear the Axis anthem!

"... Djorn?! Is that you singing?" Pris' voice came over the comm.
"Kamille, if it wasn't for you...." Jerid's last words

"You bastard... You don't get it! I'm... I'm special! I'm famous! I'm the king of mock battles!" Patrick

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Dervish Team 3 -

At that moment Wes wished the Rick Dias came equipped with a shield, though he was doubtful it would have been of much use against Tiger Stripe’s high-powered chain gun. The HUD screamed about Wes’s shoulder and upper torso armor taking heavy damage in the approach, but he had to close the gap. Letting that Barzam, with that machine gun, maintain middle range was simply out of the question.

The monitor reported Wes’s phalanx gun inoperable just as he lit his beam saber in the left hand. As the gap closed, Wes fired a wild shot with the beam rifle in his right hand before lunging with the left-hand saber.

- New Yark Team –

Aaron Faraday didn’t have to search long for a new target. Hard AE had reached Wales’s vicinity and saw the souped-up Barzam. The eccentric New Yark team leader brushed his Nemo’s hand along the right shoulder of Wales’s Rick Dias as he passed, he sang out, “Helping friends, Hard AE style foooo~

He disengaged Wales and put some distance between himself and the Dias as he squeezed off a pair of beam rifle shots at Aaron’s Barzam.

-

Thibaut, too, was close to the Rick Dias duo now, but the two junior teammates weren’t yet out of the woods. He weaved left to keep safe from Marco’s parting beam attack, then fired back again even as he cruised closer to Wales. Thibaut then rapidly cycled targets to Alex and fired a double-tap to keep that Hizack on his toes.

Mart’s shield was nearing its breaking point as it sucked up another round of 120mm from Alex, but even worse was that the shell-flinging Hizack now wanted to charge him head-on.

“Not gonna tie me up here, buddy. Got places to be.” Mart deactivated the limiter on his thrusters – a dangerous move, but he couldn’t afford to get tangled up – and fired his cannon again at the Hizack’s face. Then, using a combination of the cannon’s recoil and a tap of his verniers, Mart angled himself to speed “over” and to the right of Alex’s flight path.

Stamble, meanwhile, experienced a flash of battlefield instinct when Criss switched targets to Mart. Stamble juked hard to the left and brought up his shield-bearing left arm just in time to deflect the beam before he was really conscious of what he’d done. Veterans always did insist that that kind of three-dimensional awareness came a little easier to Spacenoids, and this very instance could perhaps be pointed at in a supporting argument.

What happened next, however, could just as well cut it down. Only an eyeblink later, the entire body of Stamble’s Nemo convulsed violently and was pushed backward rapidly; he’d been completely blindsided by Orsino, who collided with him at high velocity. Stamble gave a howl of surprise as his HUD went haywire from severe torso damage. The saber had lanced through the right chest vent and, while not immediately fatal, it was clear the Nemo was in a dire condition.

“Sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t sh*t!” His right arm functionality drastically impaired, Stamble drew a beam saber with the left hand and made a desperate overhead chop at the Hizack with the strange circular shoulder emblem.

- Axis Zeon Mudra Detachment Vicinity –
- Hamburg Team –

“I’m right here, lady. Right behind you, Lieutenant.”

One could virtually hear the smirk in Kite Ishma’s voice as he approached the rest of the team. He didn’t volunteer to inform them that a software glitch had temporarily immobilized his Nemo. He’d quickly worked through it and was lucky not to have been shot while his MS was a sitting duck, but it meant he’d been absent while Hamburg Team danced with Axis suits.

Bindra Team’s aggressive approach, however, meant he’d be present for the next wave. Kite knee-jerked at the sight of the oncoming Gaza-Cs and fired a three-shot beam burst at the two in the lead, but at the moment he pulled the trigger he knew he’d been jumpy wouldn’t score a hit. Nevertheless he maneuvered into formation with the rest of his team immediately afterward.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- Axis Zeon Mudra Detachment Vicinity –
- Bindra Team –

Kite’s shots were indeed premature and sailed close to Ball and Renard, but didn’t put them in any real danger. Without a word between the two veterans, Renard’s Gaza-C slid behind, “above”, and to the left of Ball’s.

Ball angled his approach so he’d cut between Paris and Al, then gunned his engines to the highest acceleration the Gaza could provide. It was a less-than-stellar machine, to be sure, but the mobile armor mode allowed it to concentrate all of its thrusters in one direction and thus manage a relatively impressive rate.

Renard would move in at a different point as drilled. Then the remaining four suits. Despite Ball’s earlier orders to the younger pilots not to act without commands from the older vets, Ball actually had some degree of confidence in their ability to stick together thanks to their performance in the previous Gryps battle (in spite of some losses) and their results in the rigorous drills he’d put them through since. It helped that the capable Pris Singh was herding them as well. But a true old-timer like Ball can never completely shake that doubt about greener pilots, not until those kids have truly become hardened combat veterans.

With the Nemos growing rapidly larger on his monitor, Ball fired the knuckle buster once at Paris’s Nemo before changing direction to scream through Hamburg Team’s formation, then started firing the claw beam guns into the general direction of said formation.

Renard fired his knuckle buster twice at Kite and sped up.

- Zarm Team -

Norlan snarled as he regained control of his spiraling Gaza-C. He switched to the now-legless MS mode and faced Kou’s Nemo. “A**hole! This isn’t over yet!” He ignited the thrusters and rocketed toward the offending Nemo with a lit beam saber.

-

Kelof’s eyes widened, bugged out, as Kou rushed forward to meet him. “This is it!” he exulted, “I understand now! This is what it means to be a warrior! Haman-sama, I’ll be your knight! AXIS BANZ-“

Paris’s beam shot struck Kelof’s Gaza-C at center mass not long before it would’ve collided with Kou’s Nemo, tearing the Zeon mobile suit into two rapidly-spinning halves that were fast tearing apart themselves from the force of internal explosions.

-

Tek and Lebim continued their retreat until they were in the Mudra’s vicinity. They hadn’t even crossed paths with the advancing Bindra Team. Now instead they witnessed the tattered remains of Mudra Team engaging some Marasais along with elements of Mandra Team.

Tek observed the situation and said “Well, if it’s not AEUG, it’s Titans. We’re backing up Mudra Team.”

The two Gazas switched to MS mode and advanced toward Buxoro Team while staying behind and “below” Mudra Team and Mandra Team. Despite it being a risky shot at that angle due to the number of friendlies in the area, Tek fired his knuckle buster once at Tyler.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Beta Team –

Hepburn took a nasty hit from the Rick Dias he’d been fighting, but wasn’t put out of action yet. Wolf licked his lips as he felt the adrenaline start to course through his body. One more little thorn plucked out, another pebble kicked off the road.

“Daren, pull the trigger. You’ll know when. Sven, move with me.”

Wolf moved in aggressively at Trask and Curren and fired a shot from his bazooka, this time between Trask and Hepburn, closer to the latter.

Sven was behind and to the right of Wolf’s Barzam and maintained a roughly parallel flightpath as he unleashed the left trio of shoulder missiles at the Rick Dias with the mounted cannons.

Daren, meanwhile, was furthest to the right in the formation and trained his targeting reticule momentarily on Hepburn’s Marasai. His finger ran up and down along the trigger, but Daren didn’t pull. He instead continued advancing, his eyes darting back and forth between Hepburn’s Marasai, Trask’s Dias, and Wolf and Sven’s Barzams.

- Gamma Team –

Jackson Hepburn shook his head quickly. His concentration had wavered for only a moment, but in the thick of battle that can be enough. In that moment he’d been attacked from seemingly all sides, including friendly fire. Now his Marasai was missing its right arm near the shoulder – just enough to keep the shoulder shield in place – and the left leg at such a spot as to expose the bare, scorched knee joint.

And he came back to his senses just in time, too, what with the Dias opening fire on him again. Hepburn twisted around to face the Dias while spinning the entire Marasai in cartwheel fashion using a long vernier burn, evading the beam pistol shots as nimble as he could with such a wounded machine.

He snarled as his HUD confirmed a trio of signals marked in purple. “Beta Team. You and your cronies came to finish me off, Ritter? Nick, they’re here!”

Hepburn drew and ignited a beam saber into the still-intact left hand and started moving in a wide circle around Trask’s MS. He kept a wary eye on both the AEUG pilot and on the Ritter clan.

- Nunavut Teams –

Iarocci winced as, even with the linear seat, he felt the Rick Dias’s beam saber cut through his Hizack’s backpack. Roughly half the panels of his panoramic monitor were blacked out at this point, and his HUD screamed that much of the suit had been rendered inoperable.

The Hizack started to tumble lifelessly in space, Irene having let go of the bazooka and the Hizack. It had been rendered a useless husk, by and large, but it still looked like a complete, operational mobile suit at a glance, which might’ve encouraged some enterprising AEUG pilot to take a shot at it. Realizing his battle was over, and that his ruined Hizack was nothing more than a potential mistaken target, Iarocci pulled the eject switch and was slammed back into his seat as the cockpit was shot out from the immobilized green machine.

-

Faisal backed off when Irene’s bazooka fired wildly at him. This act unwittingly saved him, as one of Wales’s bazooka shots, though fired at the general mass of Nunavut Team rather than any individual Hizack, sailed through the exact spot Faisal would’ve been had he not been interrupted.

“Stay away, AEUG!” Faisal twisted his suit’s torso toward Wales to fire off all six hip missiles at him, then concentrated his attention once again on Irene to continue his advance.

Akizawa weaved around one of Wales’s shots but continued rushing at Irene while firing every so often with his beam rifle.

Babineaux juked right, away from Irene’s first beam pistol shot, and blocked the second with her shield. The beam struck the shield at just the right spot to wreck the mount, disconnection the equipment from the Hizack’s arm. Babineaux pushed aside the useless hunk of metal and, like her teammates, started advancing toward the lone Rick Dias while firing at intervals from her beam rifle.

* * *

- Axis Zeon Mudra Detachment –
- Orinoco Team –

The cruiser Orinoco’s trio of Hizacks had been overzealous in pursuing a Nemo that had broken away from the four-suit team they had jumped, and had immediately backed off upon realizing that they’d chased the guy straight into a formation of Axis ships and MS. The raiding party Orinoco Team had been part of was nowhere to be found.

“In over my head again,” sighed their team leader, a rough junior-grade lieutenant by the name of Gutierrez. He and his subordinates had backed off when a team of Gaza-Cs flew out to meet the single Nemo, but now they could see the two sides were disengaging, and Orinoco Team still had nowhere to go and no real plan of action.

“Huynh, Moresby, stay close. Looks like we have friendlies off to that vector. We’ll contact them and make it back to the Orinoco through the rear echelon. We just need to slip by these Zekes first.”

It looked small at that distance, but Gutierrez could see that the Axis Endra cruiser farthest in front was engaging several red mobile suits. Even when he zoomed in the monitor he couldn’t discern for sure, but Gutierrez felt confident those red suits were Marasais. Titan machines. He’d make contact with them, then. Following that lone Nemo could only lead to more AEUG forces.

At a hand signal their leader, Orinoco moved forward quickly in a long arc “over” the Kwire to the center of the firefight between Buxoro Team and a bunch of Gaza-Cs.

* * *

- Titans Taskforce Echo Vicinity -
- Alexandria-class Kirov -
- Combat Bridge -

“What’s that? The Jupitris is ordering us to withdraw?”

It struck Trent as madness at first. Taskforce Echo was on the cusp of overwhelming this smaller AEUG unit, and the meddling Axis fleet was taking a beating. With a determined push, Echo would have control of the middle echelons of the AEUG defense, so that their frontlines would no doubt rupture.

But it took only a quick glance at the situation map, along with other reports, to understand what Scirocco was doing. The main bulk of Axis forces were slowly but interminably moving closer to the epicenter of the battlefield. Moreover, intelligence reports indicated that the Argama, AEUG’s famous flagship that carried the feared Zeta Gundam, was approaching. The projected courses for both of these threats converged almost on top of Taskforce Echo, and if Trent didn’t start his retreat soon, he risked being crushed between them.

“There’s no choice, then. Withdraw all mobile suits except Iota Team – I want them to support Buxoro Team’s retreat. Helm, take us around and have the cruisers follow, withdrawal pattern Orange.”

From the bridge, Trent could see the red shapes of Iota Team’s Marasais launching from the Kirov’s broad catapult deck.

-Bindra Team-

"Uh...no. I mean...yes. The spirit of Axis has filled me and is overflowing through my mouth, I guess," Djorn replied. It was fortunate that the tiny screens that displayed other people's faces were small and that he had a visor over his face. If anyone was looking at him they would have a hard time seeing his blush.

His excitement grew as they got close to engaging the enemy, though and any embarrassment he felt fell away. It was time to prove the dominance of Axis!

He watched as Renard and Ball split and fired, but watched the Nemo's they were attacking much more carefully. He waited a split second to see how they would react to the attacks, keeping his crosshairs on one of them.

Djorn followed up on Renard's tale, blasting forward in mobile armor mode but angling toward Kite's Nemo. Only a second after Renard's blasts, he opened up with his claw lasers at the Nemo, giving Kite no respite.
Yep...That's Texas in a nutshell. Why just say "f**k you" when you can put it on a flag?

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-En Route to Hamburg Team's position-

Derrick tightened his grip on the controls of his Nemo. He knew full well that he was bound to be in trouble the moment he engaged the Axis forces, considering the state of disrepair his Nemo was in. With only one functioning arm, and the only available weapons being the head mounted vulcans and his two beam sabers, he was ill-equipped for prolonged combat. However, he had the element of surprise on his side, and hopefully, that would give him the advantage he needed.

He had eventually gotten close enough to where he could discern the individual mobile suits engaging one another; Four Nemos against four Gaza-Cs... Well, four and one-half Nemos, now.

Coming up behind the Axis Zeon mobile suits, he fired a volley of vulcan fire at the closest Gaza, intent of drawing their attention away from the team of Nemos. With his Nemo in its current condition, acting as bait was all he could really do at the moment.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, he sincerely hoped he hadn't made the biggest mistake of his military career just now.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Mudra team-

Raymont and Pamnell were flying in close enough formation that both pilots thought the incoming pair of shots was aimed at them. In another unplanned instance of unity, both pilots pulled up to avoid the shots, narrowly doing so, only to collide. It wasn’t serious for Raymont, who only felt a bump, but one of Pamnell’s left claw was largely wrecked and other shock damage prevented the machine from transforming, while several thrusters cut in an out. The two had slowed as they assessed their damage, and were about to turn back toward the Titans as the Mandra team surged past.

“I think I can make it back. Go give those guys a hand,” Pamnell ordered, not bothering to hide the relief in his voice for having an excuse to head back to the ship.

“Yes sir,” Raymont responded, swinging around into the wake of the Peoron team, while Pamnell slowly started off toward the Mudra. Raymont was about to dive down and join the pair of suits left from the Zarm team, flying down below him, when a trio of Gaza-C’s appeared from seemingly out of nowhere (To Raymont).

“Stick with us!” Rusty called, having picked the conversation and deciding it would be a good idea to bring the lone Mudra suit along. Raymont didn’t have a chance to voice any objections as Rusty once again kicked his Gaza-C to full speed, with Fields and Rout following right along.

Roughly in a diamond formation, they moved downward, effectively diving in front of the pair Zarm suits seconds after the fired. Not concerned about possibly blocking the shots of other Axis suits, Rusty led his team in an obvious charge to get below the Titan teams, from where he expected to be able to hit them easily.

==================================================================

-The Mudra-
-Bridge-

Finalan let out a breath as he looked at the image on the screen. The Mandra was approaching from their port side, moving into a position where it would be able to cover what was left of the Mudra group, should the Titans hit them again. Things had calmed down slightly, and in the distance they spotted one Gaza heading back there way. With all of the action occurring to that side of the line, they had largely forgotten about the fighting going on elsewhere along their front…

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Team 2-

As Bernard raced ahead, the rest of Team 2 followed quickly, seeing the chaos developing around the Hamburg team, and picking up the garbled transmission from one of those pilots.

“Crap…” Eddie muttered as he spotted another group of thruster flares coming from the Axis lines, which identified themselves as Axis suits when they began to fire toward the Nemos of the Hamburg team.

Eckardy banked slightly to the right, hoping to get a clearer shot on the incoming Axis suits. They were technically in weapons range, although hits are practically impossible under the conditions, but Eckardy aimed his beam rifle and ripped four quick shots at the Bindra team. Cowboy had followed Eddie, and seeing him open fire, decided to fire a single rocket in the same direction.

“Sophie,” Eddie said as he fired the last shot, “Try and stay to the right an’ see if you can get in range to hit those ships. We’ll keep ‘em busy.” The formation of Axis ships, two of the cruisers and some kind of transport, floated in the distance, and Eckardy knew the 240mm on Sophie’s C-Type stood the best chance of doing major damage to one of them.

in his haste to avoid being hit by another salvo of incoming fire, trask forgot to grab his bazooka as he evaded, fortunately it served well as a distraction when one of the approaching missiles struck its' magazine and set off the ammuntion still inside the weapon

as he backed off, Trask found himself utterly confused by what was unfolding in front of him

"they're shooting at eachother? just what on earth is going on here?!" shaking his head he disengaged in order to get closer to Wes and put some more distance between him and the Titans, not wanting to be caught in the middle of the brewing sh*tstorm

-New Yark team vicinity-

despite his shots missing, having Thibaut and Hard AE pass by brought a smile to wales' face, moreso when Hard AE gave a verbal reassurance as his nemo put its hand on the dias' shoulder

“Helping friends, Hard AE style foooo~”

not able to think of a suitable reply, wales simply nodded, at that moment he realised something, despite being within spitting distance and having two nemos pass by. Criss' hizack, the one he was about to attack earlier before irene called for help, had carried on like he wasn't even there.

"someones got poor situational awareness..." he said to himself as he readied his sabre. as he brought it back to strike, a warning indicator went off, alerting him to incomming missiles.

"damn it, thats twice now." without a second thought he juked up and towards criss, spinning the rick dias in a corkscrew with the beam sabre held out as he passed the hizack. facing in Nunavut team 2's direction once again, wales took note of the immobile hizack next to irene and gunned the thrusters, rushing to a new heading 'above' the enemy while opening a comm to his teammate

"Irene! that hizack next to ya? grab the thing and chuck it at those f***ers!"

-Hamburg team-

“I’m right here, lady. Right behind you, Lieutenant."

Paris clicked her tongue in annoyance as kite's smug voice came though the comm system, not even bothering to dignify it with an answer. and where have you been exactly while we were getting shot at? she thought before bringing her attention back to the task at hand, first confirming her hit on the gaza-C that had was rushing uraki and then trying to figure out how to avoid being killed by the incomming Gaza-C's who kite had fired at prematurely.

unsure of eaxctly how they were going to hold them off long enough for the rick dias'es to assist, Paris was relieved when Al put his suits hand on her shoulder and told her of an idea he had, sounds kinda crazy. she thought, but she went with it none the less.

taking up position to Al's left, who held his nemo's shield horizontally to protect the torsos of both suits, paris held her beam rifle in a hipfiring position underneath the shield with one hand and her deactivated beam sabre in the other, while Al had his rifle resting on top of the shield, a shot from Lt balls knuckle buster tore off the left leg of paris' nemo, but she held her ground nonetheless. wait for it...wait for it... she kept telling herself as the gaza got ever closer and more rapid shots from its claw beam guns struck the shield several times, it held but would not be able to take much more damage. please let this work.

the gaza was roughly 200 feet away from them and closing when Al acted, opening fire with a barrage of beam shots, all of them aimed at the four gaza-c's behind Ball. a split second later paris burst forward from behind the shield and met balls charge with her own, igniting her beam sabre as she surged forward. As Bernard got closer to the Hamburg team, he saw several axis suits that were targeted by his missile system. None of which held a lock at that range to do any good and the Gazas were about to overwhelm their position. At the same time Axis ships appeared nearby which got his attention. Knowing that the rest of Team 2 was close behind him, he decided to alter his main target.
Diving from above Bernard notices Paris' Nemo doing a suicidal charge at a Gaza but behind him were another 6 or 8 Axis suits quickly approaching. He fires three shots at the lead Gaza (Lt. Ball) and swings right at full thrust toward the Mudra.

"Hope that helped. Now get the hell back," he chirped. Leaving the Nemos to fend off the rest of Gazas.

- Team 3 –
- Herakles/ New Yark Team vicinity –

Bang! Kinetic jolt and then superheated plasma forced into the armor, once a sturdy metal alloy gave way and crumbles into tiny bits of fragments leaving a scorched bruising wound on top of the right shoulder armor that ended only inches from the right wing binder behind.

It was Babineaux’s again that scored hit. Akizawa’s shots sailed nearby but weren’t accurate.

"-ene! that hizack next to ya? grab the th*bzz* chuck it at those f***ers!"

“Easy mate! Get the one you’re firing at fast, we’re still outnumbered..” Irene said it as coolly as she could after taking up beating seconds ago. All the while she kept her sight focused on Babineaux’s Suit who just lost its shield. From her POV she saw Akizawa’s Hizack veered from initial heading owing to Wales’ shots. Babineaux still recklessly charged straight ahead and the range-to-target numbers finally read exactly as Irene wanted it to be.

“Gotcha!” and Irene rammed forward with all the might a Dias can muster with the silenced Hizack in front. She kicked the broken MS toward Akizawa to block her firing line while raced at full speed toward Babineaux’s left side in a tight arc, firing simultaneously with both hands against the shield less target.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

(OOC: Bunnying Grace cause she's slow)

- Iota Team -

Lt. Allister Grant

Approaching Buxoro team's location, Grant sees a blinking light on his comm and answers the transmission from the Kirov. Afterward he opens the squad channel, "Don't get too deep. We're to cover the Buxoro team's withdrawal. Grace cover our flank,"

Before he could switch off his comm, Grant sees a flash from a knuckle buster, "Sh*t!"

He immediately aims and the comp auto-compensates in seconds as it targets the Gaza. Two well placed shots streak over to Tek.

Ltjg.Jason Drossel

"Roger. Support only," Jason responds as he accelerates. As soon as he aquires a lock he fires a volley at Lebim.

- AEUG 4th Squadron Vicinity -
- Gamma Team -

“OH SH*T!”

Aaron Faraday’s voice cut into Nick’s cockpit abruptly enough to catch the Black Tiger’s attention.

”We’re F***ED!”

Purple IFF indicators on the HUD clarified what Aaron meant. Ritter and his boys had arrived. Unlike Aaron, however, Nick was more annoyed by the sight of withdrawal flares from the Kirov than anything.

Even with his attention momentarily split, Nick drew a left-hand beam saber and parried Wes’s lunge. He fired his verniers to push away from the attack Dias, which he no longer paid much attention to anyhow, into a sharp angle toward Beta Team, Hepburn, and the Kanone Dias fighting them. The flow of battle in space had made it so that his approach was somewhat perpendicular to the facing between Beta Team and Trask’s Dias.

Nick kicked into high gear and continued firing the chain gun, sweeping the barrel carelessly back and forth between Trask and Beta Team.

“Aaron, JP, fall back to the Kirov. I’ll catch up.” Nick’s eye was on the black-red-gold Barzam he knew Wolf was flying.

- Axis Zeon Mudra Detachment Vicinity -
- Buxoro Team -

Taking on the Mudra’s paltry escort of three Gaza-Cs had been promising at first, especially when Tim had trashed one before they could return fire. But the situation changed when Axis reinforcements came out of the woodwork shortly thereafter. Tim and Tyler were soon facing roughly ten of the pink transformable MS.

Most of the return fire was clearly pointed in Tim and Tyler’s general direction, but not carefully aimed at either pilot specifically. Considering the sheer number of Zeons they were up against, this kind of mass-fire tactic could be deadly, especially given the difficulty of tracking the few shots that were aimed.

Tyler rolled and dipped violently, generally to the right and “downward” to where he’d been a moment ago to weave through the main mass of enemy fire. This put some distance between him and Tim, but they needed to stay mobile to stay alive when outnumbered. Tyler was also experienced enough, however, to pick out that two of the Zeons were aiming more specifically at him rather than spraying haphazardly. One of them was the maniac (Brutus) who was, after leapfrogging over the guys he’d come to reinforce, charging headlong at the front of the Zeon clump.

That guy’s shot was deflected away when it hit Tyler’s right shoulder shield at an oblique angle, and Tyler, still moving roughly parallel to the general mass of Axis suits, retaliated at his with a three-shot burst from his beam rifle. He noticed Iota Team’s much-needed arrival at about the same time, and was more than glad to note that they were engaging the group of Gazas that was trying to position themselves “under” Buxoro Team.

-

Elijah mentally noted the overwhelming Axis numbers suddenly arrayed against Tyler and Tim and silently promised he’d make his run on this Endra a quick one. The Mudra’s lone operational secondary gun opened fire, and Elijah dipped down, closer to the cruiser’s hull to let the gunfire sail into space. Vlad acted quickly, firing a few shots at the gun to get its attention while Elijah sped across the Mudra’s dorsal side, firing his beam rifle at the hull armor frantically, concentrating primarily on the forward bulk of the cruiser.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Hamburg Team

Kite shrugged off his eagerness to get back into the fight and resumed his usual calm. "This is becoming a real mess," he muttered. The Nemo started shifting its position, moving slightly above the Hamburg team. He waited for the targeting computer to actually lock onto one of the Gaza-C's. However before he could fire, two Gaza-C's moved in on him. The Nemo decided to try an match their speed and reverse, however with them in MA mode he knew the Nemo couldn't keep pace with them.

Holding up the shield the Nemo took two of the beams squar, Kite was jarred in the cockpit but kept his barring. The other beams passed by high to the left as the Nemo lowered its stance a few meters. No point in stringing myself out. I'll deal with whatever comes my way. I'll have to deal with these two on my own. But if they keep attacking in sequence like this I'll be in trouble.

The Nemo held its slightly warped shield out front at an angle so the beam carbine and its range of motion wouldn't be disturbed, however he could keep his defense up in case the Gaza-C's started paying more attention to him. He quickly opened fire on the lead Gaza-C and started tracking the second to line p a shot.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

"Pick a target and wail in," Pris clutched at controls as the four of them charged in behind Ball and Renard.

Her own Gaza-C in mobile suit mode, she trailed somewhere behind the ever eager Djorn, his Gaza-C now speeding off in mobile armor mode, but was too preoccupied to chastise him for the idea.

Pris instead brought her attention to the two Nemos that Ball was aiming at, now pairing up together behind a single shield (Paris and Al). Between the two of them the shield had only enough space to cover their torso so she tried to aim for their heads before Ball's continued approach would risk friendly fire.

Failing to get off even a single shot on account of one of the two Nemos returning fire (Al), Pris twisted and dropped her Gaza-C, coming in low to dodge the attack and keep Ball from being between her shots. She kept her aim trained on the pair of Nemo and bit her lip as one of them bounded from behind the shield and began charging at the incoming ball. Not wanting to risk hitting Ball by trying to shoot down that Nemo, Pris let the scene slide off into her peripheral vision and continued stalking the other Nemo from below. She could at least keep the two from double teaming Ball, and the Gaza-C pointed its knuckle buster upwards and let loose two shots at the Nemo still holding its shield.

*two shots at Al*

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

-Gamma Team–

Between the beam rifle fire coming from Hard AE and the withdrawal flairs Aaron almost missed the order from Nick.

“Aaron, JP, fall back to the Kirov. I’ll catch up.”

"Don't have to tell me twice," he said under his breath as he let a stream of 120mm fire stream forth after Hard AE. He then took off for the Kirov not sure if Hepburn was following as Nick had ordered.

-Boxoro Team-

Tim quickly followed after Tyler as they began to bug out and get away from the now much larger enemy Mobile Suit force. The fire coming there way was intense and he wasn't quite sure that they'd make it through unscathed. Thankfully now that Iota team was supporting them they might just live.

-Team 2-

“Sophie, try and stay to the right an’ see if you can get in range to hit those ships. We’ll keep ‘em busy.”

"Copy that Eddie, sending lead there way," she responded moving into her place in the formation that Eddie had indicated. Sophie took careful aim at the Kwire with the 240mm cannon that the C-Type had on it back. Even though it was a ship, at this distance and with what ever else was flying through space the shot could still miss.

But as soon as the computer indicated that the range was good the cannon belched forth two shells that went hurtling towards the transport ship Kwire.

-Bindra Team–

When all else failed Nikolai did what he did best, follow Djorn into trouble.

He took off after Djorn's Gaza-C as Renard had just finished his salvo of beam fire and was caught up just as Djorn opened up on Kite as well. But he didn't factor his speed into being able to target the Nemo and instead flew right by him. Trying to spin around and return fire was just as much a mistake as his Gaza-C spun out of control for a moment and Nikolai had to fight to "level" off, leaving himself a target for any of the enemy MS in the area.

Re: Episode 28 - Passage to Tartarus

Herakles Team

Orsino quickly brought his one free hand up to grab at the downwards-slashing saber, catching it just barely. For him, it became a fight against time. He quickly used his other hand to latch onto the embedded saber and try to pull it through Stamble's suit for a kill. It was just risky enough for his tastes...

Criss nearly jumped out of her seat as she noticed the Dias fly by her. Regaining her bearings, she aimed upwards and fired at it as it tried to get an aerial scope of things. Who's off guard now?

Marco, seeing Alex in trouble, fired off a few well-aimed beam shots at Mart. Unfortunately, he discounted Thibaut, and felt his HUD groan as a beam lanced his shoulder.

Kou since when did you get so awesome

Uraki very quickly switched over to his beam rifle, firing a quick shot at the onrushing Norlan while jetting back. The old bait-and-switch worked every time.

Brutus why are you so stupid

Just barely dodging Tyler's burst, Brutus switched over to MS mode. "Have at you, earthnoid scum!"
