Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
I meant that last part as a figure of speech for a central leader.

Well, not a lot, but it makes good trivia or whatever.

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
I'm not asking for the character himself or herself, just what title it is.

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
Maybe, but you'd think that in a Zeta episode that included the Federal Assembly, there'd be at least an unnamed guy referred to as "Mr. President", or whatever. I wouldn't ask for a complete list of every head of state/government that's ever led the entire Earth or a lot of things that w...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
I've honestly long suspected that the Earth Federation lacks a head of government as well as a head of state. No one to that effect is ever mentioned, even in the heavily-political parts of the franchise, like the arc in Zeta where Char gives a speech to the Federation Assembly. If there's a head o...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
In some cases, of course, but I can imagine a kind of election or appointment among the Federal assembly. The lack of a central leader just has a ring of anarchism to it, which with the Titans and other tyrants would make things more problematic. Were not like the geth from Mass Effect. Our consensu...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
This may sound insane, but after looking at all of this, I kind of feel bad that I graduated high school. That's so much a person learns, but can forget. Anyway, maybe this can help the distinction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_of_state

Re: Gundam projects
From what I know, Kira doesn't kiss Lacus throughout the shows, so I think I speak for everyone when I ask whoever the movie's production team is, "Please let them kiss." I understand that some things don't always have to be about romance, but it helps enrich characterization. Not that I'm...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
Alright, alright. I think I'm getting it.
Well, from what I understand, no individual nations were mentioned throughout the continuity.

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
That was a point I was trying to articulate in my own head. There doesn't appear to be a single "role model" figure at the head of everything who sits at the top and tries to be the public face. At least that's how it appears. Maybe that's one reason why Zeon Daikun was so overwhelmingly ...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation
As for Prime Minister, it's also worth noting that Canada has a Prime Minister, too, and the "monarchs" of the UK and Japan have zero political power. So, yes, the leader of a country can be called the Prime Minister. I can't speak for Japan, but the British monarch actually has significa...

Re: Newtypes, Cyber-Newtypes, and the human brain
From what I understand, Tomino thought that it was possible for humans, who have lived in space for a good number of years, to develop psychic or near-psychic abilities. Which may or may not be impossible given our limited space exploration activities and that stuff like Star Trek and Star Wars are ...

It's supposed to be worth 3,600 yen now, which, according to the internet, is $30 in the States, so I might be able to afford it now, if I can only find a website to order from.

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards
From what I understand, in the novel, Hathaway killed his love interest rather than someone else doing the deed. Then again, his life may have ended badly anyway when he killed Amuro's love interest.

Re: O'Neill cylinder model
Actually, I now see at Mecha Catalogue. What I want to know is how I can possibly get maybe two of them. One for me and another for my knowledge-loving step-nephew.
