Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
I actually wonder if the ADverse has the technology to launch ships into space anymore. The elevators have existed for quite a while even if they haven't been giving off much or any power, and conceivably they've been the primary means of travel to space for as long as the main stations have existed...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVI
I guess the same could be said about the possibility that after having them split in two that Tieria and Regene each pilot a specific "half" of the MS, what with not having to be restricted to their respective physical bodies anymore. Well, if Tieria's not restricted to his body anymore, ...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
Ok, the issues with the Ep 9 shots is this, where is the stream of green GN particles? Not sure. For the first picture, it could be because we're seeing it as a reflection that's partially obscured and the GN particles are so much smaller and less vibrant than the ship that they don't show up. For ...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
Umm....last time I checked anything that leaves or enters the atmosphere in a normal situation (orbital elevator not counting) glows red due to the friction of going through the different layers of atmosphere. While I'm sure Trans-Am helps, particularly in need of a hurry. I doubt its seriously nee...

Re: How far away are we from Mecha Show Tech Levels?
Wouldn't a VOTOMS be a better example? Those things are basically mini-tanks with legs, and aren't they treated incredibly realistically? Actually, no: the labors of Patlabor are even better, since even the military models are terrible and basically just look cool, and civilian models can be taken d...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVI
First and foremost, I guessed at the folded Gundam aspect of Raphael when we saw it from behind. (Is the other half Donatello Gundam?) Secondly, I thought we all agreed those were just thruster cones attached to huge GN Condensers since all animation so far shows Raphael using GREEN particles. On a...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVI
Proof-positive of the Raphael's backpack being a folded-over Gundam in and of itself: Snapshot from Tokyo Toy Show 2010, HG 1/144 Raphael Gundam You can also see that it apparently has one (fake) GN Drive in each leg, situated in front of the knee joint. Image found on Ngee Khiong's blog Huh. Didn'...

Re: A Question About The GM
I don't think I can pronounce it as "Jim." It just feels wrong to me because I've been saying and thinking "Gee Em" since I got into the fandom. It's like, I look at the two capitalized letters and thing "No vowels, so I should pronounce them as letters."

Re: Random Mecha/Anime Image Thread Mk VIII
This goes way beyond Twin Drive craziness. Wh-what did they do to Devil Gundam ?!?! Clearly it's now powered by DGN Cells, miniature GN drives capable of low output alone but much higher output in unison. In addition, it is capable of infecting anyone and turning them into DGNovators, mindl...

Re: The Process of Innovation
Another thought also comes to mind when it comes to the whole aspect of innovation. Since they do know of Innovation and its importance to the plan and everything. Is CB in the process of Innovating their entire crew? If not then why not? By the time they have 00Q working they should have the capac...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
I disagree, the last scene showed it with a red glow while it was just a small object far from the screen. Not sure whether it was in the TV Version but the DVD one has it. Just checked the versions, the TV version has it too. The one where we saw large Ptolemaios II right after Set and crew ere in...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
To a small bit of merrit, the Minerva and ArchAngel had powerful engines, but they both need external boosters to help them achive escape velocity. in ArchAngel's case they also fired the Taunheiser cannons to weaken the gravity for a moment in a straight line. I don't know if the Minerva had to do...

Re: 00-Raiser: TELEPORTING!!??
~snipsnipsnip~ Aha, I see now. Very interesting, but it makes sense. That would mean that the drives were always meant to be unlocked anyway, it's just Schenberg's death bumped the timeframe up. Also, this discredits another angle of the GN-Taus: they can innovate as well, it's just their limited o...

Re: 00-Raiser: TELEPORTING!!??
Wow, i didn't think I'd get physics majors on this post, just kids who thought this was wierd and couldn't figure out an answer. :D Anyway, Why can't any other gundams quantize itself? Is it because of the 00's twin drive or the raiser or some other factor I'm missing? It still doesn't make since, ...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
What about the Zanzabar class of ships? It used only rocket engines to my knowledge and the only real restriction it had in the atmosphere compared to say a Gaw was range. Oh, I forgot about that. Well, the Zanzibar compared to most space ships is extremely streamlined, and it has those stubby litt...

Re: Spacecraft capable of atmospheric flight
While I really cannot properly help answer this question, it's worth noting that Gundam only shows us a small handful of this type of ship. Ships like White Base, Argama, Archangel, and Ptolemy II are incredibly rare in-setting, and usually reserved for special cases, thus hinting the price and comp...

Re: 00-Raiser: TELEPORTING!!??
No it's still quantization. It broke up into particles (possibly GN) and reformed else where. Teleporting would entail it just blinks somewhere else. It's not exactly quantization but it's the closest mechanic. So it's more like the transporter from Star Trek than a true teleporter. Except with sig...

Re: 00-Raiser: TELEPORTING!!??
Well, the 00 Raiser had done that quantizing trick a few times before that. I think it was the second trick the 00 Raiser demonstrated, after the telepathy field (I'm not really counting the Mega GN beam swords or whatever they're called, that doesn't get impressive until he combines them into the R...

Re: Have any real robot series explained their control schemes?
I guess what most of us would like is a clear, concise guide to properly piloting mobile suits; preferably taking place in each Universe. G Gundam: Put on MTS, punch, kick, voice command, use virtual hand weapon like the real thing. That takes care of that one. Don't forget "Pose strangely to ...
