Re: Doodling General discussion, lol
are you running Vista? I think I heard something about Vista having issues with Open GL and they had to make a patch. beyond that I have no idea whatsoever. SU does have a support site, they may have answers for you. incidentally, I came across a site that has all kinds of useful SU tips Sketchucati...

Re: The Mecha Musume discussion thread
I was trying to do that with the cloth parts that drape over and hang off the arms, again, colour would help make those stand out. And after all, it was my first try, I’m surprised I got the proportions as well as I did.

Re: The Mecha Musume discussion thread
I worked on this right after my last post in the thread, just a quick little attempt at developing a style. YFX-200 CGUE DEEP Arms Girl I suppose some colour would help re-enforce the theme, but I haven’t gotten around to that.

Re: The Mecha Musume discussion thread
I would have to say that I like the more stylistic or as you say thematic form more. Both are equally creative but in different ways. For stylistic its about figuring out how to represent the design aesthetic. I also think it would be easier for me, because I've only recently been able to pin down h...

Thank you for the delightful things of interest. On the topic of educational choices, I agree whole heartedly. That was one of the reasons I put off college for as many years as I did. (that and the unhelpful procrastination) I was lucky and found a program near me that not only suggested, but was b...

Re: Doodling General discussion, lol
If you have Photoshop or any other computer graphics program (should be able to do it with GIMP and it’s free to download) is making a separate layer and “inking” the drawing. Then you can simply get rid of the original pencil sketch (after saving the original as a separate file so you can always ha...

Seraphic For the first one, I would say that her wrists look a little too fat. I’m not sure what your intent is but it looks like her wrists are the same width as her hands, it might be a perspective thing but I think you should make them thinner. That’s just my take on it though. The second one loo...

I am really liking how White Fang is coming along. Head Side view The Grill The neck joints You are right Crash, I should have been more specific. I break things up into smaller parts when making them in 3D. For my 2D sketches I work on the image more or less as a whole. Starting with the rough form...

Re: Doodling General discussion, lol
Here’s a quick look at a work in progress of my own. White Fang . A semi post apocalyptic mecha. (I say semi post apocalyptic because really, if any people survive whatever cataclysm, then it clearly couldn’t have been all that bad.) I’m kind of going for a cross between Zoids, Metal Gear, Battletec...

Re: Pink Colored Mechs
I have valid input! I’m in college for theatre and part of my program is lighting and scenic painting. Now in for the stage, the trick is to use painted highlights and lowlights as well as some lighting tricks to create depth and detail where there is none. Using colour for camouflage is the opposit...

You know what's weird about female santa outfits? Santa's costume supposed to be a heavy coat/parka thingy that protects against the cold, but on all girls' santa outfits, the shoulders/waist & limbs are more or less all exposed, which defeats the whole purpose of having a coat in the first pla...

Not dead, just in college With classes done for now and most of a month to myself, I’ll be trying to do some new works, mostly finishing some character drawings, maybe a new mecha design. Posting WIPs is about all I do these days, having them in the same place as everyone else’s might be a good idea...

oh and would it be Heritical of me o say this is better than the original? Well… having some experience in heresy, I would say that your statement is not nearly controversial enough to illicit cries of outrage by the mecha anime community, against you. If you had said something like Doozy Bots bein...

Wait wait wait, Harmany Gold is clamming that mech resembles the tomahawk? I could think of any number of mechs that could be. A variant/redesign of the Thor perhaps? Or even one of the Phoenix redesigns of the old unseen’s (for those who don’t know, FASA attempted to redesign the unseen mechs a few...

I really like the armour on Hanzo, Samurai style Plate armour. I’ve wanted to do something similar with a fantasy character of mine but the attempts have one and all failed. Did you use any sort of reference or tutorials to get the armour down? I could use some advice for my own works.
