Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Speaking as someone who's only partway through the series (I've been watching it as it goes up on Youtube, so I'm up through episode 9), it definitely feels incoherent to me. Bellri, in particular, seems to do things based on what the plot requires of him, rather than doing things out of any intern...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
So the fact that one guy can only fight three opponents to a standstill instead of beating them effortlessly means that his gunpla obviously isn't any better than theirs? It's also worth noting that Lucas doesn't actually start to lose until after both his particle suppliers have been taken ...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Re Tomino's feelings on the series, he strikes me as one of those people who is their own harshest critic. I know this isn't the first time he's mentioned being dissatisfied with his own work. Probably, but he's not wrong about the problems with the series. It's good to know that he recognizes them...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Then again maybe this is just discriminating the tone of your post due to your prior posts It is. But if you want to talk condescending, let's look at the people who are all "You're just too stupid to understand Tomino's genius!" I'd be lying if I said I didn't take some satisfaction that...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Some bad news for you G-Reco lovers: Tomino admits it was bad. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-04-24/yoshiyuki-tomino-admits-story-problems-in-gundam-reconguista/.87449 Let's not conflate the good/bad debate with comprehensible/incomprehensible debate. Speaking solely on my own behalf...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
Meanwhile, we're supposed to believe that in the next battle, CS and Try blow up a colony, have an intense 15 minute battle, and then blow up half a planet in a tiebreaker without requiring any recharge? Pretty sure both Gunpla would have gotten a complete recharge once they restarted the battle, t...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
I've been saying something similar since this episode aired, and people seem to either ignore it or dismiss it off hand. The metaphor I was trying to come up with, which I admit is kind of poor, goes like this: A machine that operates at a level of 3, but can occasionally throw out a level 10 attac...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
Blowing up the battlefield is pretty obviously something programmed into the Gunpla Battle system, rather than a direct result of plavasky particle interaction. Plavasky particles are used to animate the gunpla and power their weapons, but the battleground seems to be entirely computer generated. G...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
I'm pretty sure that the idea behind the Full Cloth's particle limitation was that it was like it was running on full afterburners the whole time -- it got a lot higher performance than was possible otherwise, but at the cost of burning through fuel (or particles) at a ridiculous rate. And by "...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
They hyped Lucas a lot more than they did the Full Cloth. And this is kind of what I mean: They introduced a concept and people disliked it. They tried to explain the concept, and people still dislike it. Would it have been better off to just let it be, as with many of the unexplained elements of G...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
Honest question here: Since people seem upset about Bandai attempting to justify the particle issue in Full Cloth's manual, should they have just not bothered explaining anything and left everything with just the information presented in the anime itself? Also, I think the idea of "Lucas made ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk-V
I can only speak for myself, but part of Build Fighters' appeal to me is that it's NOT just a main war entry. As I've said before the classic Gundam formula, with its many rote elements like the rookie hero and the doomed Newtype girlfriend, has really been losing its appeal lately. You can only wa...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Mecha Thread Mk I
Would have been more believable if
1) Lucas didn't just curbstomp Ado and Shia but took them out completely and
2) Finale didn't have Build Burning and Transient blowing up colonies, then planets.

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
I think that was a mistranslation. Shouldn't the quote be "Even if you watch, you'll never understand!" since that seems to be the reaction to G-Reco by the overwhelming number of fans. Honestly I think people are desperate for what could be Tomino's final Gundam series to be this masterp...

Re: Railguns or Coilguns in SEED's Linear Tanks?
The levitation distance doesn't have to be huge. It could be very minuscule, in the millimeters, or less. Yes, that's true. But the smaller the distance, the larger the air friction between the round and barrel, negating one of the main advantages of using coils rather than rails for propulsion. No...

Re: Railguns or Coilguns in SEED's Linear Tanks?
Well that's a really interesting design. If that sabot is in active contact with the linear accelerators and gets released with the munitions then it's a railgun. If it's levitated then it's a coil gun.

Re: Railguns or Coilguns in SEED's Linear Tanks?
They're all mass drivers, but the railgun sticks a sabot on a rail that's driven by a linear accelerator, while in a coil gun there's no rail, and the linear accelerator acts directly on the munitions.

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
I just watched the Miyazaki documentary and it made me feel a deep weight about what Tomino was trying to do with Reconguista. I feel like their generation of directors are all ready to bow out and they're making one final plea for a society that's changing away from the thoughtfulness of their gene...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk IV
I imagine that given the dangers of the psychoframe and its potential the technology was probably sealed, and forgotten. After all the Unicorn and Banshee singlehandedly turned a tide of events by themselves. The burden of drawing out its full power was also probably prohibitive and impractical (But...
