Re: Ep. 067 - Tales of Byston Toilet

Yay first commenter! Great job as usual lads, listening to the podcast today while walking around town doing errands, in the snow! Which is unusual for Dublin this time of the year. Hell, when I moved here, 10 years ago, ANY snow was unusual, let alone snow that sticks. Ahem, anyway. Deeply enjoyed ...

Re: Fictional vs. Real-life: Prototypes in actual combat

To my knowledge, there is one use of the word 'prototype' in its real-world sense. I mean, I'm sure there's more in the Gundam metaverse. But the most prominent one is possibly Char's Gelgoog. Char's Gelgoog starts off as the YMS-14S, alongside 29 other S-type Gelgoogs which are being tested in the ...

Re: Ep. 063 - The Postmaster Strikes Back!

Okay, now I've actually listened to the full episode. You guys answered ALL my questions! Like. Whoa dude. Whoa. Amazing job! You guys have this, kinda, fun-loving attitude to the show, which is refreshing to listen to. As I heard you list my questions I kept feeling 'when am I gonna get laughed at?...

Re: Ep. 063 - The Postmaster Strikes Back!

Another great episode, guys. Am I the only one hoping for a Dennis/Palpatine Very Special Episode of Gundamn? I hope not! Also yay, news I submitted got read, awesome. Now, I'll be the first to admit I don't know how old you guys are, but I guess it's nice to be called 'young' at 27, when most of th...

Re: Megaman Legends

Let me just start by saying, YAAAAAY!! As a big MegaFan, I am really excited with this bit of news. I remember back in the day, I didn't really get Legends at first. It felt like a nonsensical spinoff, at a time when all we had were the Classic and X continuities. I remember thinking, 'except from M...

It's a sketch of Juri Arisugawa, my (currently) favourite character from Revolutionnary Girl Utena (my favourite anime).

Re: What do you want to see in the next Gundam series?

I was very pleased with the main ideas of 00. I wasn't too bothered with the fact that S1 was a buildup for a more 'traditional' show as seen in S2. I think, in fact, that is what makes 00 unique: it shows us the early days of space colonisation, and how they relate to our present-day political stat...

Re: Ep. 062 - Sewing Shadowy Seeds

Hey guys, First of all, great show. Like SoulBro, I too grew up with Robotech and only recently watched the originals. I'll definitely avoid Shadow Chronicles, it definitely sounds like the worst to come out of the Robotech venture (the original series, in my opinion, still stands up as a decent att...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

I just wrapped up season three, so I guess it's time for a spoiler tag. Dear lord this show pulls no punches. I knew of Yang's death of course, before I started watching the show. But by 'pulls no punches' I mean that the writing of the episode, and the ones after, really bring home the suffering th...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

Thanks! The way you put it, it makes much more sense. For some reason, that part of the story slipped my mind. And then when the show tries to explain the difference in fleet sizes, it DOESN'T mention that, hence my confusion.

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

Right, just wrapped up season 2. I have a question that bugged me throughout the season, spoiler marked: Why is the Alliance fleet so much smaller than the Imperial fleet? Both nations had suffered from civil wars during season 1, which of course would sap the strength of their militaries. It is cle...

Re: Is there a Gundam series that is "your" Gundam?

My first experience of Gundam was with Wing in 2000, watching it in fansubs (it wasn't shown on Cartoon Network in South America at that stage). I caught a few episodes and got interested in the mixture of future politics and real/super robot action. A year later, I moved to Ireland and managed to s...

Re: Gundam posters?

I'm afraid I don't know where it's from, but just because it has folding lines, it doesn't mean it's from a magazine. Many anime books, art books, reference guides, etcetera, include posters folded in that manner. Just helping you so that you don't limit your search just for magazines :) It looks li...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

I just realised I didn't respond to something you said, Chris, which has been nagging me: You say Reinhard would be detested for his autocratic inclinations, but that's your perspective living in a democracy. A point of note: I live in Ireland (which, while oppressive until the early 1990s, was not ...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

Ah, I think I see your points better now. I'm sure the debate about whether what Reinhard does is acceptable will crop up in this thread (may it be long lived!). But, at least, in concept and the beginning of the story, I can't help but feel that there is a certain inspiration drawn from Gineiden wh...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

Ah, but this is down to the perspective of the story, is it not? Sure, Reinhard is more human and, in many ways, less of a screwed up individual. But the truth is that Reinhard DOES want power, and does believe that he's the best person to rule the galaxy. The storyline presents him in a better ligh...

The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread

I've been sucked in. Into a vortex made up of germanic names, endless fleets with endlessly pretentiously-named flagships (I mean, er, flaggschiffen ) and galaxy-spanning conflicts that are birthed through complex conversations and interactions. Yes, I'm watching Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's ...
