Re: The Official Macross Delta Mecha Thread Mk I

Sorry if this was been brought up before, but does anyone know which Valkyrie that was during that flashback picture of the Wind Knights in that picture after their revelation? It didn't look like a specific Valkyrie to me, maybe it was a exclusive Windimere design? It hasn't been addressed. We don...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Is Bogue the annoying red-haired one that comes across like he's desperately trying to be Clotho Buer? I'm still not clear on the names of a fair few characters in this series... (TBH the only ones whose names I do remember are the three mains, Messer, Mikumo and Kaname :P ) If that's the case, I c...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Mecha Thread Mk I

I like that they also function as FAST packs when docked with Draken III, Windermerans are more advanced than most of NUNS Spacy it seems. I did not noticed that VF-31 FAST packs can detach and fly arround attacking targets. I wonder - does lilDrakens also posess some kind of swarm logic - meaning ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

pretty nearly all the characters in Delta Squadron and Walkure are ridiculously parallel. I think that's the point. 5 singers. 5 pilots. also, anyone going with the idea that kids have been told two different versions of how they meet?(or remember as an alternate.) Delta used the DYRL version which...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

16. Hmmm, I wonder why Mikumo stepped in front of Freyja when the missiles were coming in? Even if the actual usefulness of a human shield in such a situation is limited, it's a fairly instinctive reaction and is meant to show that Mikumo does care about Freyja even if she's hard on her. Mikumo doe...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Oh crap, that "scar" looks like ones left by Dimension Eater bombs from Frontier I can understand why Windermere has a grudge. That would have consumed the planet. A Dimension Eater basically creates a singularity. Something that created the crater probably would have enough power to crea...

They could be growing pineapples in the cold.

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

You guys obviously do not like the new and unusual ideas for mek... At least in "Martian Successor Nadesico" implemented a similar idea What works in Nadescio 's world works for its world, not so much elsewhere. It has to make sense in context . Context. Context. Context. Stuff in Gundam ...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

Again, what's wrong with acquiring local transportation? Any kind of covert operation usually depends greatly on stealth. A transforming vehicle loses stealth when it transforms. Any vehicle carrying heavy weapons (transforming or not) loses stealth when revealed. In situations where you don't want ...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

What role it can play in transformers? I believe that if they are not suitable for the practice of open conflict, it is possible to use their ability modified for reconnaissance and sabotage - such as a six-meter mek can be transformed into a small van http://fai.org.ru/forum/uploads/monthly_07_201...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

Just wondering, has the OP looked at the ATAC-01-SCA Spartas from Southern Cross? A variable tank without tank treads or a "tank" mode that looks like a tank (the unprotected pilot practically screams shoot here).

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

MrMarch and Seto Kaiba - you take me like some kind of criminal :( Because we are trying to explain how it fits within a given franchise's universe; how it fits within a narrative. In fact, this topic is the feasibility of the establishment and use of transformable robots under normal conditions, a...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?

For instance, the transformable mobile suits of the Gundam universe(s) originally adopted their transformation to an aircraft-like mode (Waverider) as a means of integrating the reentry capabilities of the waverider craft to eliminate the need to have a separate craft or a vulnerable ballute to ree...

Kuruni wrote:*SIGH* I think we should just use the most blunt answer then. Just like how mech make more flashy toy than tank, transformable mech mean more gimmick. More gimmick make cooler toy. Complexity mean excuse to make more expensive toy.
That's always been the answer.

Re: zeta's shield and waverider form

It could still fly. It would have increased air resistance due to exposed, un-streamlined sections, but waverider mode would still work. Landing would also be hard since the forward landing strut is located in the shield but switching to MS mode would alleviate that issue.

Takayuki Yanase (mech designer for Gundam 00 ) did something on his own. http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/yanase02/work/cgw/cgw04_c.jpg Was the first link meant to be a tiny thumbnail image? That's all I see when I select it. Try this link: http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/yanase02/work/cgw/cgw04.jpg

Re: Valkyrization

All of those fighters would be fine to make into variable planes, but as MrMarch mentioned, it's really hard to make a transformation system that works and works well. A good example is the SV-51 which is based off the Su-27. In Kawamori's production art, it literally starts out as a Su-27. But as h...

Re: Mobile Suits and Batteries

I would say yes, in general. They all have batteries and/or they have capacitors to help with power. The extent of their usage and significance would likely vary from universe to universe.
