Re: Getting shot down and Surviving!
Only the standard beam weapons got weaker underwater (hence why Kira went with the Sword Striker, as it didn't rely heavily on beam weapons for combat), but the GOOhN and ZnO use phonon maser weapons, which are basically lasers tailor-made for being more effective underwater. The only beam weapon I ...

Re: Getting shot down and Surviving!
If you want to talk plot armor in relation to Wing, one thing that always bugged me is that the grunts are known to have weapons with all the power of a Nerf gun and armor as thin as tissue paper and yet as soon as a named character gets in one they can tank enemy fire no problem and one-shot compa...

Re: Getting shot down and Surviving!
Heero surviving the self-destruction of Wing Gundam, I can't really attribute anything except plot armor. Even if you take out the possibility of Heero not being incinerated from the explosion itself, there's the fact that his insides should've been turned to soup from the shockwaves along with him ...

Re: Newtypes, Cyber-Newtypes, and the human brain
IIRC, the most we got was very vague and general speculations in Zeta Gundam about things like drugs and hypnosis being involved (though that might've only been in terms of Rosamia and how she believed Kamille was her brother and such), but it seems Neo Zeon has managed to move such projects forward...

Re: Dragonball Super
The main issue with the BSDBs was that the Nameless Namekian was much more powerful, which allowed the dark Shenlong to grant greater wishes. And the "dark side" component came about because Nameless was one of the vanishingly rare Namekians to have any kind of evil side, which the series...

At least 1/3 of AGE. The first 2/3 weren't THAT bad, IMO.Amion wrote:Were we supposed to treat it like Gundam AGE and forget it exists?

And even if it wasn't intentional, it doesn't necessarily make it bad either.

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
1. the character designs looked too old school for my tastes. It was like watching something from the 70s with today's animation 2. the story progression seemed weaker than Gundam age, which says something 1.) That's more or less the point given G-Reco is basically a successor to Victory Gundam. Th...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Then again maybe this is just discriminating the tone of your post due to your prior posts It is. But if you want to talk condescending, let's look at the people who are all "You're just too stupid to understand Tomino's genius!" I'd be lying if I said I didn't take some satisfaction that...

Re: It's Gundam Wing's 20th anniversary
But that was part of the point of Endless Waltz - the boys (AND their mentors) rejecting the original Operation Meteor because of how much death and destruction it would cause. For them to go along with Char's plan for any period of time would require them to be rather thoroughly duped...which woul...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
I have seen all seven of the episodes currently streaming on GundamInfo's channel and the biggest problem I have with the series is that I feel lost. I don't know what is going on why these people are fighting and why the main character is now with the pirates. With all these questions not answered...

Re: It's Gundam Wing's 20th anniversary
I always wanted to see the Wing five fighting for Char in his second Axis war, but no official crossovers ever did that. Well, it doesn't happen because there's no way it can make any sense if you're using the characters' actual personalities and motivations. Even EW-era Wu Fei wouldn't be up for i...

Re: It's Gundam Wing's 20th anniversary
I still admit to this day that any Gundam series should have elements of Wing as well as of the older series. That explains to this day why some characters in SEED look like their Wing counterparts and properly hailed 00 as the Wing of the 00s. In ways, that's what Gundam X was to me; a more balanc...

Re: It's Gundam Wing's 20th anniversary
Yeah, I'm one of those who isn't too into Gundam Wing aside from the music and some MS designs (same with SEED, SEED Destiny, later 00, and the last 1/3 of AGE). I guess it's because I first saw the previous Universal Century Gundam series' and so have come to appreciate the more "real robot&qu...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
It's one thing to leave a few blanks here and there, but it's another to leave 70% of the show to the viewer's imagination. That just reeks of lazy writing. "I don't need to explain anything, the viewer will make up stuff for me!" Tomino doesn't get a pass on this just because he's Tomino...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III
Definitely feel it could've covered more with 39+ episodes given the transition from the end of the battle to the aftermath feels a bit abrupt. I also got the feeling that that cavern area are what little remains of Jaburo (though I don't recall Z'Goks being used in the attack, maybe leftovers used ...

Re: Funnel Operational Time?
The only time, in animation, that I can recall actually seeing (at least to my belief) a mobile weapon being refueled/recharged would be the Neue Ziel in 0083, shortly after its brief encounter with the Dendrobium (in which Gato would've already been fighting for quite a while). You see it connected...

Last I recall, it's Sandrock who has the thickest armor of (most of/all?) the Gundams.

Re: Jegan or Nemo
In terms of older MS being used, it's also possible that the EFF just never seem to see Torrington as important enough to warrant using more modern MS to defend it and simply see using older MS as a more cost effective method. Though, not like newer MS were really that necessary given most of the MS...
