Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

That's absolutely okay. I hope I didn't come across as being overly critical. I am genuinely curious, because I'm not able to see much of a connection like you can. As I wrote, the two production designs go in completely opposite directions as far as sensibility (which is why both are equally so cre...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

What aspect of the design is evoking any kind of Yukikaze vibe? I'm not seeing it. The Macross designs, including these for Macross Delta, have always paid homage to grounded, real world aircraft in order to maintain aerodynamic plausibility. Yukikaze, as per the creators themselves, abandonded any ...

Re: Macross Delta new TV series

latenlazy Good catch! yeah, they could very well be bump inlets. Gotta see more of this design. So awesome that such a old design has been modernized into a valkyrie. It looks so different. Henyo I think there was little doubt it was going to be a TV series, especially given the incredibly successf...

Re: Macross Delta new TV series

I think the colors of the red Saab Draken-like craft make it feel like an enemy craft. Also, the lack of a transparent cockpit is often the type of design associated with the antagonist craft in the many Macross series.

Re: Macross Delta new TV series

Yeah, just saw it. Definitely some major influence from the Saab Draken in that unknown red-and-black craft at the top. http://www.macross2.net/m3/misc/macross-deltra-saab-draken-possibility.jpg They are definitely taking the "Delta" in the name quite seriously. Since they show two delta w...

Re: Macross Delta new TV series

An announcement of an annoucement to come :) I love the age of the internet...

Well, at least there's some news. That design appears to have VF-25 -style engine/feet, but a YF-19/YF-30 shape.

LOL! Love it :)

They actually posted a little notice that something is coming soon. Not exactly big news, but in the age of the internet, every crumb is a big event :)

Re: About weight, thrust, payloads and other oddities...

Yeah, but it's always fun to learn about that stuff. At least I think so. I mean, i never had much interest in that kind of math and science until I got into sci-fi and then tried to understand it as if it were real. I wish I could have learned how to do my physics classes in high school by working ...

Re: About weight, thrust, payloads and other oddities...

Okay, found the passages I knew I had read about the late-and-post OYW mecha. For the MS-14Jg Gelgoog Jaeger from Gundam 0080 the official trivia mentions: "the increased thrust and fuel consumption was offset by a pair of large external propellant tanks mounted on the backpack". And for t...

Re: About weight, thrust, payloads and other oddities...

I thought I remembered reading in several 0080 and 0083 mecha profiles that the enhanced thrust came at the expense of operational time. More thrust uses more fuel/reaction mass, hence less deployable time in the field. Later mobile suits might not have the thrust of earlier suits because they are d...

Re: Right Stuf announces 0079 Blu-ray, Turn-A movies, etc...

Okay question about Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, will the blu-ray be worth the buy? You know what mean? Like will I see a difference from the original that was created in 1979? Just weighing in will it be worth it vs the standard version. Well, it depends upon what kind of ("level of"?) film/...

I've heard mention of Steven Universe many times now. Everyone keeps telling me that as an anime fan, i should be watching Steven Universe. I have to make time to check this series out.

Re: Real life parallels to EFAF aircraft?

I'm actually curious the answer to this question. I've often thought the point of the aircraft in Gundam was that they were not supposed to look like any existing aircraft. More based on aircraft/spacecraft from older super robot shows or science fiction rather than real world aircraft. Curious to k...

Re: Yuri and Yaoi

Okay, after my initial shock and thinking about it I suppose I can see a little where they may be coming from. And I don’t want to go the easy route of attacking/dismissing the person because they have an opinion I don’t like. I’ll assume for a moment the person doesn’t have any more issues than mos...

Re: Yuri and Yaoi

I definitely remember that kind of stuff back in the day; the one that always got me was the specific subset of yaoi fandom who claimed that homosexual relationships were inherently superior to heterosexual ones, because they didn't have things like biology and "breeding urge" to get in t...

Very retro, for sure. Like if Macross was a super robot show instead of real robot.

Re: Yuri and Yaoi

Well, that's not quite as bad as I'd feared for the individual, but it is a terrible way of preventing homosexuality from ever being "normalized" by categorizing gay people to behave in a stereotypicaly outrageous manner. I'd hesitate to label Japanese media as "more sexual" than...

Re: Yuri and Yaoi

@MrMarch i see. i also found Bobby enjoyable. He's gay, but has given up in the love game. Shirai Kuroko from the To aru series could learn a thing or two from him. take a different approach girl! and one that ain't shady or forceful. Well, I think Bobby has given up in relation to Ozma, for whom h...

Re: Valkyrization

a question though, are the VFs the same size as real life planes? the VF- Valkyrie model in particular. since it's based from the tomcat. The Valkyries do have established sizes and yes they are similar to real world fighters. As a result, their GERWALK and Battroid modes are proportionally sized a...
