Re: Comparison of UC and AD Tech

Comparing technology between Gundam time lines never goes well, as it involves a heavy amount of hypothetical reasoning and making wild assumptions. First off, regarding the overall technology of each universe, which one is more advanced? It's hard to say that either is more advanced because of the ...

Re: Tallgeese's Speed

The 3Gs might come from calculation of acceleration using its mass and thruster output. But it's a really rough estimate, since the problem is that we don't know the full mass of the Tallgeese with propellant, weapons, and other instruments loaded.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk I

I wouldn't see that centripetal gravity would have much of an effect. When the Kshatriya first enters the colony her funnels have no trouble staying still beside the mobile suit: The air in the center of the colony would be like zero g with a partial spiral but most definitely not enough to disturb...

Re: An Army of F91 Gundams in Crossbone?

I think Kenji's theory sounds pretty plausible. Both the Javelin and Jamesgun have been around since Crossbone, and neither of them have the same level of performance or firepower as the F91. At the very least, I would assume (judging by paper stats) that the F91 could fair reasonably well alongside...

Re: An Army of F91 Gundams in Crossbone?

IIRC, the limited production F91s did have the bio-computer and that's one of the reasons why they were able to stand on such equal footing to experienced pilots like Kincaid/Seabook as well as the F91's VSBR and whatnot. (Able to pierce through a couple layers of beam defenses the Crossbone Gundam...

Re: An Army of F91 Gundams in Crossbone?

Yeah and correct me if I'm wrong they gave the CBV alot of trouble when the Feds sent to help the Jupiter Energy Fleet. Just a minor nitpick here, but they didn't send them to help the Jupiter Empire. From the beginning they were there to "arrest" the Crossbone Vanguard for piracy. Incide...

Re: Zeta Gundam-the first MS with Trans-Am system (Red version)

I think we should keep in mind that the Jedi, like much else in Star Wars , were inspired by the Samurai. I'm not all that familiar with Samurai myth, but I'm pretty sure that the connections could be easily drawn between Newtypes and Samurai legends, even in the absence of Jedi. Yes, even some of ...

Re: Zeta Gundam-the first MS with Trans-Am system (Red version)

You know, if we want them to explain exactly how Minovsky physics work, it may be a bit hard considering it's a fictional field of science. At the beginning, Minovsky particles were simply a means to explain how the technology in the Universal Century works. If they need to explain how Minovsky phys...

Re: Zeta Gundam-the first MS with Trans-Am system (Red version)

To be honest, I've heard the similar explanations to the "Minovsky Particle Resonance Theory" before but simply brushed them aside as completely unsupported fan-made speculation. It does seem to have some merit though, and it certainly helps explain a lot of the phenomenon we see: Both the...

Re: RX-78GP02A overwhelmed battle?

I never knew the Antarctic Treaty was defunct post-OYW. Even in Crossbone Gundam... The Feddies were quite shocked when the Jupiter Empire resorted to nuclear weapons, and directly accused Crux Dogatie of violating the treaty. Granted, I know manga never take precedence when it comes to official can...

Re: The Official 00 Mecha Thread Mk XVI

Interesting that Gadessa may be more advanced than 00 in terms of frame tech........>__> That's not entirely out of the question. The Gadessa did manage to do quite well during its early appearances. A mobile suit's frame is also just one aspect, and sometimes raw power or some unique function can ...

Re: Real Life Learning Computer

Visually identifying a 18 meter tall, blue robot against a desert backdrop isn't that hard. The AI comes in to predicting where its going, and where it could be going. Minovsky interference further complicates things. In the scene I was referring to, it was the Gouf's computer predicting where the ...

Re: Universal Century, Post V Gundam?

If G-Savior is indeed part of UC canon, then I'll note it for future discussion. Admittedly, I ran into the conclusion simply because of the shunning treatment it's received, as Mark mentioned. It seems like aside from exclusive material, G-Savior has never appeared along side other series - specifi...

Re: Real Life Learning Computer

Incidentally, I was just watching the MSG trilogy and during his fight with Amuro, Ramba Ral commented on how Amuro's accurate shots made it easier for his computer to predict his attacks. It got me wondering, perhaps the learning computer for the RX-78 was simply used to calibrate standard MS compu...

Re: Crossbone Gundam

I've just recently finished the manga myself and went through a bit of Skull Heart. It was definitely an interesting and epic story, and a lot of the plot events and technology seem to have inspired other entries in the Gundam franchise as well. It's a shame that we will never see Crossbone animated...

Re: Universal Century, Post V Gundam?

Technically speaking, both Gaia Gear and G-Saviour fall into the category of "non-canon". I believe there was a Victory Gundam side story manga, the one that has Judau make an appearence, although I'm not sure if it takes place before or after the series events. And either case, Sunrise do...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk I

Unicorn was so close to the Kshatriya that she couldn't fire at it without risking damage to her own unit. I think this is sort of what Char was going for in Zeta when he pinned the Qubeley, except it's a lot easier to make precision shots on a stationary target then ones going as fast as the Unicor...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk II

Except that Quattro was explicitly called out as being Char by more than one character before he finally admits it. It may be a secret to particular characters (witness the scene when he's finally officially outed), but it's not to the audience . Audrey, on the other hand, hasn't been revealed to b...

Re: NewType MS can Overwhelmed battlefield ?

Well, there's also the Bio-sensors... but I really have no idea what they do. The Bio-sensor supposedly allows the [Newtype] pilot to control the machine with their minds. I'm not sure to what degree, since it isn't until the Psyco-frame in CCA that pilots were able to mentally control every functi...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk II

It's not a trope per se, but it's still pretty obvious, and they treat it like it should be a surprise to the audience. I don't mind the fact that she is Minerva, I mind the fact that they treat it like a plot twist when it isn't. I'm not sure exactly how they've been trying to make it into a "...
