Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
There is no way, shape, or form, that they could if not want to connect this to the main UC canon, because it would never fit and it doesn't belong there How does it not fit? I can only think of two things from this particular back-story part of the manga that directly contradict stuff from MSG, an...

Re: Marvel's Agent Carter
I'm in the process of catching up. Just finished episode 6.
I'm still enjoying it, though I think some of its themes and stuff could use a bit more breathing room. It's moving pretty fast. Probably a solid B+ show so far.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
My assumption is that OVA 4 will end just before OVA 1 beginning coming full circle. I can see they cutting that civilians being gassed part and shortening others. The main focus are the Char/Sayla bits plus the MS development parts. I hope they won't cut the civilians getting gassed part. That's o...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Plus the rest of vol. 14, don't forget that. And it's always possible that we'l get a 2-volume/1-hardcover coverage per episode (do we know how long each one is going to be?), which gives a bit more room for flexibility. It's hard to say what would get cut entirely though...maybe all the stuff on Si...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Thanks HEDGESMFG ! That's really interesting, and confirms a couple of my thoughts on why Banrise might be hesitant to remake MSG. I hadn't gotten far enough into the manga for this flashback. Is Zeon Zum Daikun supposed to have been a lunatic? I think before THE ORIGIN he was more or less assumed t...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
CGI was fine; though the video game comparison was pretty apt at the start, I thought, it got better (I got used to it?) as the scene went on. The transition to the 0068 part was a bit too abrupt, though. I liked the directing choices in that bit, including putting the bedroom sequence before Deikun...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VII
Really! Just in dialogue, or were there significant details/scenes cut?
That certainly wouldn't surprise me with later episodes, but for the first couple, you'd think it'd be pretty close.

Re: Marvel's Agent Carter
I really dug it. Engaging and funny and left me much less cold than its modern-day MCU television counterpart. I actually disagree about the men - I thought they were portrayed with plenty of competence, being only a couple steps behind Peggy at any given time (considering she had inside info and a ...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Remake series seems to be the industry trend nowadays with Sailor Moon Crystal, Battleship Yamato, even f*cking Pokemon, a way to rejuvenate the existing customer base while bringing in new ones. As I said above, MSG doesn't need rejuvenating, and when you're dealing with a show that's already very...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
People seriously think the 0079 anime still look fine? That must be why the Gundam franchise was so successful in the US after it aired in Toonami... I don't know what people think about the animation specifically, and I agree it's aged poorly (especially considering it wasn't exactly high-end for ...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Ah, okay. A prediction then. But I don't know if it MSG needs a remake. The original TV series - and its movies - are still held in enormously high regard in Japan and still have a huge amount of pop culture relevance. THE ORIGIN manga is great, of course, and kind of a best-case-scenario of a remak...

So, hey, balofo! Where'd you hear that? Is this something that's from an interview, or are you making a prediction?

I've been holding off on buying an RX-78 3.0 in hopes of getting an ORIGIN edition.
Although, the likelihood of getting an all-inclusive version ala the Metal Composite is probably pretty slim, all told.

Re: The Official Gundam: The Origin Manga Thread
Just got ahold of my vol. VII. Some thoughts: -The bit on Iffish was everything I remembered and then some. Yas played the contrast between cold, documentary-style narration and the direct personal moments like a fiddle in this volume. Such a great approach to use for this bit of the backstory. -Ope...

Re: Gundam infantry body armor?
ECOAS clearly uses some sort of body armor - you can see it in action during the Vist Mansion raid in the first episode of Unicorn. Nothing sticks out in my mind beyond that, though perhaps traditional body armor is seen as unnecessary in a war where soldiers aren't really deployed on foot the way t...

If you're just starting and really want to get into painting and detailing and stuff like that, I'd start with High Grade kits. They're less expensive, making them easy to experiment and get creative on, and there's a much wider variety of kits available. They require more effort to look good, but i...
