Re: Prove the Blade Grasp is impossible.

So surprise + immobilisation of their weapon + a free hand compared to your opponent's none + rule of cool + years of practising little else but sword catching = one victory practically guaranteed + badly beaten and humiliated opponent. And I am going to have to disagree with that. The logical fall...

Re: Fafner: Dead Aggressor: Heaven and Earth, Anime Green-Lit

I've yet to see the one-episode OVA, but Fafner was undoubtedly underrated, and it's nice seeing it get another run. While it's been a while since I've seen the original, I can't quite remember if there's enough material for a full-blown sequel. Either case, color me interested.

Re: Victory Gundam

Like AceWhatever said, both Shakti and Uso are kids, which explains their naiveté. Kids also tend to have a hard time controlling their emotions or accepting changes, which is particularly true for Uso's infatuation with Katejina. Shakti falls into the same category as characters like Relena, Lacus,...

I hope that doesn't end up being the opening theme, or else it'd be the most out of place one since the last opening for GSD. Of course, the song itself is ok - if just a bit too passive in my opinion.

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?

I tend to be in the middle on that. I'll admit G has a healthy dose of whimsy and wacky, but wouldn't say it's a completely silly series with no message like most do. As a fan of the series, I'd agree. In fact, I think G Gundam gives a much stronger message than most Gundam shows, with the characte...

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?

Wow, there's nothing that broadens the appeal of a fannish argument like throwing in a random comparison to a controversial political issue, and assuming that everybody in the world agrees with you. I think this is why political discussion is discouraged here. ;-) -- Mark Apologies, as I didn't int...

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?

Is it just me, or do complaints about UC elitism creep up every few months or so? Like Chris and Geoxile had pointed out, elitism goes both ways and, as a Universal Century fan who also likes several obscure AU shows, I find it rather annoying how anyone who dislikes an AU offering is automatically ...

Let's not forget DOME, which while not a genuine AI, fits all the general descriptions of one.

Re: Victory era materials

Well, the shredding by bullets thing seemed fairly common at the beginning of the series. I can't speak for the V2, though. Haven't seen it in action. You have to keep in mind that ballistic weaponry is not going to be at the same level in Victory as it was in earlier eras like CCA or even F91. In ...

Re: Shinjuku Incident

I watched this movie last month while in Shanghai. The plot itself was kind of convoluted at points and the acting wasn't what I would call top notch (even for Jackie Chan). Despite the flaws, it was a decent movie with some memorable moments, and the movie really helped show how easily people chang...

I'd chalk it up to animation error myself. Or, if you want to stretch your imagination a bit, perhaps Char just decided to use a metallic variation of the weapon for that particular sortie.

Re: What was the Zeong made of?

IIRC Brow bro was bigger and badder (heavier) but the thing went down with one hit to the hull. The Zeong serves more of a front-line role, however. The Braw Bro, for the most part, is an all-range support unit along the lines of the Elmeth. At this point, the psycommu itself probably took up most ...

Re: [UC Gundam] Funnel use in atmosphere?

Uh... the funnels were used more than just in the upper atmosphere. I recall seeing them used after the ZZ shows up and all three machines (including the Qubeley and Psyco Gundam Mk II) were well grounded. Really, the only obstruction I can think of would be propellant consumption, although given ho...

I also just finished v gundam a couple of days ago. I was wondering if shakti and uso ended up together. I mean I think they were living together and what is her name is like their new mom. But it never clarifies if uso and shakti get together cause they are young and alot could happen from then te...

Re: Gundam 00's mech "influences"...

I never thought about that before but you have a point. They have a similar feel to the Wanzers in how they are built except for the wheels underneath the feet. Actually, Wanzers can be outfitted with legs that have wheels (or at least a "skidding" ability). Personally, the Tieren just lo...

Re: Parallels between U.C. and A.D.

Or something to that effect. Speaking of which, wouldn't there be parallels between the Gundam 00 and Turn A in that each have a specialized system built within them that isn't revealed until at least the final few episodes of a series that is capable of changing the world? Not when you consider th...

Re: The next Kojima Productions project

The problem with him not being Raiden is that his name means Thunder and the countdown has thunder and lightning occuring hinting to his name and the fact that his name shows up means there is some connection so I highly doubt its a Snatcher unless Thunder has anything to do with it. Again, I was s...

Re: The next Kojima Productions project

Raiden has an exposed metal jaw and teeth and barcodes all over his body like his shoulders, and he IS a cyborg, why would it be a snatcher instead? Thanks for completely missing the part where I emphasized " might ". I don't see how actually being Raiden is any more plausible than being ...
