Re: Fafner: Exodus

Oh, I forgot to mention it earlier, but the ice-powered Festum was really cool. However, Fafner seemed to be taking a page from RahXephon's ice-powered Dolem (and Rebuild of EVA 2's ice-walking Angel). But that's fine, because it's interesting to see the Festum adapt, especially when they're made u...

Re: Shūkō Murase Artbook Hunt

He's one of my favorite character designers, too--if not my favorite. Definitely in the top 5. Off the top of my head, I have not heard of an art book for him specifically...but here are some clues you might look into: 1.) Look into art books for the series he has worked on.* 2.) Use Google images t...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

There was a scene in either Ep.21 or 22, and I can't seem to find it a third time to check, but it appeared like a Fafner with the same look and weapon as Johnathan's was flying all over the place, shooting things, and then it gets destroyed by, as I recall, a red Festum. Was that just a random ene...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

All right, well, I'm still one episode behind, but I'm curious about a few things... Was Gallop saying Ai was dead when she talked about "her remains." Or was that some kind of subtitle error and/or weirdness in the story (like when they said all the Argos were wiped out and then they reap...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Finished Ep.22... Wow! Amazing episode w/ amazing animation! The choreography of Keith and Sui in action was was gorgeous! It feels like we're seeing a lot of new stuff late in the game that I would have liked to have had a few more glimpses of earlier, but I think they might just pull it all off. A...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Finished Ep.21... First impression-wise, I found the misdirection of Argo Team being "wiped out" to be annoying, and I found the early stuff with Walter and Akira, and then Maya, Kazuki, Akira, and Soushi to be a little crammed in there. But by the middle of the episode, things stabilized,...

Re: Argevollen...

I'll eventually get around to giving my full thoughts; but for now, I just want to say that I've finished Argevollen, and I can say that I was very satisfied. I can see why there might be complaints, but I think it wrapped things up fittingly, and with a lot better writing than the conclusion to Ald...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

EDIT: Didn't have time to fully post. I think the animation for today's episode was fine. It's just I'm not sure the plot has been moving in the best way...ultimately the best part of the episode for me was the last four minutes of the Exodus group. That part of the story has become far more intere...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Couple of things I wanted to point out/mention, but forgot: *Koyo's return solidified Sui Kaburagi as "not-Koyo." Sui's near-death/assimilation (and I thought he was a goner), was a replay of Koyo's assimilation from the original series. This, following Sui's parents having such a conflict...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

I'm caught up through 19 now. *I was really glad they gave Kenji and Sakura some moments. It seems like their relationship has been brushed aside for a while, and it's always been my favorite. The wedding was a fun surprise. *I think the "time thing" wasn't as awkward as the time managemen...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Realistically, I've come to realize and largely accept why Fafner will likely never be a break out success in the anime fandom: Art style, mecha genre, serious tone, and a layered story tied up in knots requiring the viewing of multiple old shows. The *art style* is too old-fashioned and too closely...

Re: Argevollen...

...Oh but I love both openings to this show. I still rewatch them to this day, what do you think of them? In hindsight, I will concede that a lot of my problems with Argevollen come from the fact that it isn't my kind of show...For example, I still...to this day...cannot get into Gundam Wing past e...

Re: Fafner: Exodus

Caught up through 17 now... The last two episodes have somehow reminded me more of the first series than Exodus in their tone and pacing. Canon's "end" was well-done, but like Amion, it didn't fully get me. Things just moved so fast with Canon and her time-warping over the last episode-and...

Re: Argevollen...

I have had a fair amount of anticipation for this title, but have only now gotten around to watching it in earnest. I am through 12 episodes, so I guess I'm halfway home on this one. So far, while it hasn't totally blown me away, it has shown itself to be a little better than my already high expecta...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

I wasn't expecting this at all...though, I guess I should have when I consider the success of Macross F. I was somehow under the impression Delta would be more in line with Macross Plus or Macross Zero in tone, setting, and/or character designs. So, personally speaking, the trailer doesn't make it l...

Re: Full Metal Panic (new anime adaptation)

I've edited the title and lead post here for more accuracy (as best as I can, since there's no strike-through option on this board). However, I'm not sure why they would be so vague if it was simply Season 4. And while showing a later mecha design is good evidence of Season 4, it could also be a tea...

Re: Full Metal Panic anime reboot

Nothing in that article suggests a Brotherhood/Ultimate type of thing. There'd be no point since the anime we got were pretty faithful as it is. The novels have been finished for awhile so assumedly they'll be covering the rest of the story. Some ANN forum members who watched the announcement event...
