Re: 2004: Top 25 Anime

It looks, however, like the Japanese fan-voted list doesn't fare much better than the American one. Haruhi? Negima? Really? Over classics that changed anime forever such as, I don't know, The Rose of Versailles, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Tetsuwan Atom, Captain Harlock, Mazinger, Akira? In the e...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box

Some more: -Has SoulBro started watching LoGH? If so, who are some of his SoulBro Men in the show? So far, most I've seen aren't pathetic enough, but Fork certainly seems to qualify. -Considering how fad-driven the anime industry is, isn't it strange that we haven't seen a number of LoGH-like shows?...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box

'tis me again: -Have you guys considered doing a spotlight on Xenogears? I understand it's a controversial game, but I find that it's unique in being an RPG tribute to the history of mecha anime, from the past (you got your giant monster and super robot style mechs), the recent past (lots of grunt-l...

Re: The destruction of Dublin (Gundam ZZ)

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! Effectively, Mark was the one who had pointed out it was the 'second worst' science gaffe in UC. I guess that also excludes giant robots, mind :) It is true that the Dublin drop isn't mentioned again, but for example, I cannot recall further mentions of the nuki...

Re: The destruction of Dublin (Gundam ZZ)

I see what you mean, however I seem to recall that the Dublin colony drop was meant to be a controlled one. In Operation British, Zeon lost control of the colony as it broke off. If the colony dropped in Dublin was under a controlled descent (using the colony's repositioning thrusters), then it mayb...

The destruction of Dublin (Gundam ZZ)

Right, so. I am particularly interested in the destruction of Dublin in UC 0088. Cause of death: hit by a space colony. Of course, most of it is because I bloody live in Dublin, and have sometimes wished a space colony would put us out of our misery. I jest of course, since I much heart this city (i...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box

Here I go :) It came out a bit as a blog post, so if you don't feel like reading, the questions are in bold 1. As a woman, I feel that a lot of the time female characters in gundam get the short end of the stick. If you're a woman piloting a MS/MA, most of the time you're either the baddie, totally ...

G Gundam figures

Hi all, Ive recently started watching G Gundam, and of course I am now trying to get hold of a couple of figures. I was wondering if there are any figures that have the poseability to do the cool poses done in the animation? I imagine the MSiAs arent great for this. How about the GFF of the God and ...

Re: What was the Federation capital during OYW?

You guys are forgetting Dublin in ZZ!

(I won't forget for it is where I live, so it is)

But yeah, this question bugged me the other day, when I realised I couldn't recall this info. I guess the concept of the Federation having a civilian capital city wasn't considered during the run of 0079.

I enjoyed the added realism, though not always the character art. I e-mailed the publisher last year to ask why they had stopped it, but got no reply.

I think people fail to realize how close the Earth Federation came to losing the war, even after A Baoa Qu. Remember that the EFF had essentially thrown everything they had into the attacks at Solomon and A Baoa Qu. They took a terrible beating during the space offensive; the Big Zam at Solomon, th...

This reminds me a lot of the comics vs graphic novels debate. Vs manga. Vs underground comix. They're all comics. Some may not be funny, but they're all comics. And it's the same here. Plus, come up with whatever definition you like, in Japan all animation is called 'anime'. Anime is just short for ...

Well, this is always a bit debatable, I think. Should a Japanese dub of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine imitate Miles O'Brian's Dublin accent? (Which, by the way, Colm Meaney 'americanizes' to avoid phrases and words that would be "too Irish" for a mainstream American TV show). Hell, the issue of nationa...

Probably slightly :) off-topic, but this discussion reminds me of the big quarrel we had here in Italy about the "original" Italian dubbing (the one used when MS Gundam was aired in 1980) and the new "corrected' one (with Tomino supervision) used for the second airing in 2004. Apart from the heated...

Yes, yes, I'd never seen this or heard of it. Old meme, I know, but man this was pants-wettingly funny. I'm sorry but all I could do while I watched this was smile at the stupidity of it all! And to be honest, I've wanted to see a Gundam show with sentient MS for a while. Something lighthearted and ...

Display cases for Master Grade models?

Hi all, Once more, I searched and couldn't find, so please bear with me in case there was a thread I missed! I'm going to seriously start building MG's again soon. In the past, my models would get awful dusty, and I'm looking to find display cases for my models. I've found small cases that would acc...

Thank you very much, ScornMandark! Those tips and links help a lot. If you have any pictures lying around, I'd love to see them! I am probably going to paint the model, most likely a couple of coats of spray paint and a gloss coat. So, I reckon I won't have the problem you describe of the whole head...

Installing a LED in an MG's head

Apologies if there is a thread about this. I tried searching the forums for it, and tried Google and other message boards, to no avail. I recently got the MG Turn A, my dream MG that I never thought would be released... looking at the way the head is set up, it's crying out for a LED to be installed...

Check out Dalong.net's review of the kit to get some idea about quality. Personally I'm not too big on some of the proportions, the head in particular looks too scrounched up. There's a fair bit of detail painting required, as well. Dalong has a comparison between the unpainted and painted versions ...
