O'Neill cylinder model

Does anyone where I can find this model? http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/File:15486 ... 7e47e9.jpg My arguments with the more grittier aspects of Gundam aside, I can't help but be fascinated the science fictional lore behind it all. This model is actually pretty good looking.

Re: Arkham Knight Thread

I mostly research games by watching them on YouTube and reading their wikis. Arkham Knight looks fascinating, but I hope it's not the end.

Achieving more breakthroughs in space flight

This is somewhat related to my earlier topic of colonization. http://www.mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?t=16581 One element we have to consider as we head out into space on a Universal Century of our own, is the advancement in interplanetary travel needed to properly scour the other bodies in our Solar...

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards

As long as that rather depressing end for Hathaway doesn't happen, that's fine with me. Actually Iron Mask is supposed to be a year younger than Angelo, so I'm not entirely sure if that would be the case. I'm also not sure if the Universal Century is in the same universe alongside most of the other ...

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards

I think I may have been under such earlier assumptions by reading stuff such as this. http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/Magallanica#History I wouldn't call Unicorn's late enrollment in the continuity a retcon. Not necessarily, anyway. But I would be happier, if there were more dubbings for shows such as ...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation

There's also the topic of the Vist Foundation. In universe, it seems to be some sort of conglomerate, but "Foundation" is normally a nonprofit organization in real life. Of course, the Ford Foundation has a good deal of pull globally. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Foundation

Re: General Fanfiction Discussion 2: Electric Boogaloo

Public reception is important after all, and I believe the public largely favors a leader with a healthy ego. Not counting those personality cults. I wouldn't mind celebrating Deikun's birthday after he dies a supposed martyr, or naming a city after him while he lives as long as he does more than a ...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation

From what I remember, the Prime Minster of Earth was introduced in Unicorn which was made long after the first show. Germany actually has a Chancellor alongside their president while Britain and Japan have Prime ministers in addition to their monarchs. Which brings up another question. I don't expec...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation

Of course, that doesn't explain exactly how the Federal military is set up. And wanting explanations isn't a bad, thing I don't think. We're just not told because it could make things more complicated than they already are. Yeah. Sometimes, I wonder if Tomino thought far enough. Some people actuall...

Re: Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formation

Technically a nation can call its leaders whatever the heck it wants. There is no fundamental law of physics, morals, or nature I'm aware of that insists all Federations must have Presidents or else. That, and we don't know how the Federation really functions exactly, at least I don't. We get a lot...

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards

Think about what the people who start the conflicts are talking about. Cosmo Babylon/Rona Family: Aristocrats are superior in morals and dignity and intillect and deserve to lead the unworthy masses. Crossbone Gundam Rona Family, or at least the female one, I believe her name was Serenda or somethi...

Discrepancies in Gundam political and military formations

Before anyone goes all ballistic about my inexperience on Gundam, politics, and this site, hear me out. The Earth Federation from UC is led by a Prime minister, right? Does that happen in certain real life Federal bodies as well? I know the Russian Federation has a Chairman of the Government that's ...

Re: General Fanfiction Discussion 2: Electric Boogaloo

Gundam was not exactly crying out for more silly forced acronyms in the first place, which is exactly what "Zenith Unionism" would be. Zeon is quite reasonably named after Zeon Zum Daikun because it's his ideals that the Principality claims to uphold (and aren't we fortunate that the lead...

Re: General Fanfiction Discussion 2: Electric Boogaloo

What's wrong with Zeon being named after the guy who founded the state in the first place? There has been a precedent for naming states and governmental systems even while said persons were still alive, and why not if they put in the work to build a nation state they should have every right to name...

Re: Use of acronyms and portmanteaus in Gundam

i'm not sure where this topic would go, but seeing as how it's just "make up some forced acronyms and stuff for Gundam !" i'm not sure what the point of it is anyway. i guess i'll send it off to fanfiction. Okay, sure. I guess I was just comparing it to real world stuff or something. I do...

Uh, sorry. I guess I wasn't thinking that far ahead when I thoughts of this. But I suppose we can always consider this as speculation. If not, I'll see what I can do to move it.

Use of acronyms and portmanteaus in Gundam

I know that some were used like ZAFT among others in Seed, but I think that a few could've been used nicely in the Universal Century. Of course there was the Anti Earth Union Group, but they should've thought of a better name to show that they weren't the second coming of Spacenoid aggression...

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards

I'm not sure where you get the idea that Unicorn "solved [...] the inequality [...] by adding representatives from the colonies." No actual political changes are mentioned in the story, let alone anything radical enough to change the course of later UC history. Anyway, the conflicts in th...

Re: The Later Universal Century and afterwards

That doesn't seem like a very strong argument for a continuity conflict. The more likely explanation, I think, is that the ending of Unicorn didn't really change anything or have any major effect. :-) -- Mark Maybe, but that kind of makes things a little sucky. No offense. Trust me, if you've heard...
