Battletech's mechs uses 'monomers', muscle like things to power their battlemechs. And they limbs are all armored.

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?

In anycase, most people on this forum are respectable intellectuals anyway. DO NOT LET O'Reagan READ THIS  (Am I braking rule No. 1 and 5?) Interesting fact you brought up a Wing fan. I find the war philosophy worthy of a pHD thesis. It's not something I want to think too much about. Although...

Re: just thinking aloud: plasma technology, planets, and a ring

It seems that this discussion is heading off topic. My opinion is this. A better machine is beginning to sound more like a super robot. The inter galactic plot would sound more like Legend of the Galactic Heroes. And base on UC's pesudo science, the science have to sound 'logic'. Too much of future ...

Bernie tried to pass as an Aussie. . You mean Australian speaks english? I was there for 4 years and I still have problems understand the locals, especially bloks from the yorbo tribe. An example from real world. All pilots and air traffic controllers, have to learn some english. Because this...

But Johnny Ridden had black with red not red on a lighter red color. The White Ogre and Shin Matsunaga both have the same color scheme of white on white unless my eyes are deceiving me. I had a good look at the MG box art. Shin Matsunaga, The White Wolf, got a picture on a wolf head the shoulder pa...

In Martian Successor Nadesico, the ship's crew speak Japanese. When the goof ball captain Yurika Misumaru reports to the United Earth Forces, she speaks English.

Re: Why no artillery in Gundam?

A better example of what Gadget meant would probably be the B-52 bomber and the Centurion MBT. It should be noted though that these have benefited from various upgrades, reconditioning and modernization packages throughout their service lives. I should have thought of that. :? From what I know of a...

Re: The Elitism of UC Gundam Fans?

This 'UC elitism' is brining me back memories of the old 'VS' thread. Remember when Armuro Ray could beat everyone with one hand tie behind his back. He could kick Char, Hero and Kira. Setsuna came in after the 'VS' was dropped.

Re: Why no artillery in Gundam?

That's kinda what I was thinking when I made the post, but again, it is the lack of technological equilibrium across that is the biggest failing of the fiction. They even say how outdated the Mongoose is, serving many decades before the era of MS. The point I was making is that if a military has th...

The direct translations of those Japanese dialogues lines are pretty funny. The same verb used for "absorb" is also used for smoking cigarettes... Yeah, you could just as easily say that the Zeta sucks people's souls. Now there's an image! -- Mark Now that sounds like an Asura Machina fro...

Re: Moonlight Butterflies purpose?

I wonder did the new Battlestar Galatica took this idea when they found Earth? Most far future interstellar weapons are usually sun cracker like Star War's Sun Crusher, Nova Bombs ect. They cases the local star to go nova. It it destroy everything. But with Moonlight, you'll just destroy the civiliz...

'Aliens' in this discussion is interpreted as the BEM (Bug Eye Monster) type. Not as a sub-spices human from space.

Re: Disney + Marvel?!?

I would so watch a cartoon where Bugs Bunny was part of the Justice League. well Daffy Duck has ran in to Green Lantern before DC is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Entertainment since 1969. And they seems very much independent from most of the WB stuff. In fact, it's also easier to make cartoons, lik...

Re: Real World VTOL Dropships compared to Modern Day Helis

What's really odd so far is that, while the defender has no operational restrictions, the aggressor seems to be incapable of taking any action other than designing & deploying dropships & drop-pods. No high-altitude nuclear detonations to generate EMP's, no crowbars or telephone poles raini...

Re: Why don't "Real Robots" Have Skins Like Us?

A child with a hundred-dollar AK47 using several dollars worth of armour-piercing bullets could cripple vital power conduits, rendering the arms dead weight.. I can't help but to think of Soran Ibrahim, before he become Setsuna F. Seie. Ok, back to topic. In many 'super robots' they are all armored...

All you need is Akatsuki's beam reflection system. And you can have positron reflector shield like in Destroyer. So a 'solid shield is not really needed to reflect beams.

Re: Real World VTOL Dropships compared to Modern Day Helis

No, no , no.

What I wrote was drop AWAY from the hot zone. Then fly to insertion point point. It's true that the re-entry can be tracked. But once it's slow down after re-entry, the drop ship, by active or passive stealth, could 'disappear' from the radar.
