Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
@Seto Kaiba Do you think personally that Robotech also came out too close to when Transformers was still on the air and kids were too busy collecting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee toys to care about the Veritechs? I ask because technically a show is like a big commercial for toy merchandise and wouldn...

They did try with Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump in the 80s but didn't work out.DragoMaster009 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 8:01 pm Don't they have any other shows to fall back on when the license for Robotech and its component shows ends in a couple years and they can't renew it for whatever reason?

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Film distribution and animation production is more like a side business to them... you could almost call it a hobby if corporations had such things. They would buy the distribution rights to TV shows and movies and resell those rights to distributors in other countries. Shaka Zulu and Robotech are ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Other than Robotech, I believe they were the first company before Funimation to attempt to dub Dragon Ball in the 80s. Also, they did a dub of the Lensman movie which had the Japanese score replaced with typical HG fashion American music.DragoMaster009 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 19, 2018 3:48 pm So besides Robotech, what else does Harmony Gold do?

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
I will admit that the one thing Delta got right was the soundtrack with tracks too darn catchy to ignore like Ikenai Borderline which I still have in my iPod. My problem with the story is the usual complaint that the first half is dope but there ain't no definitive conclusion to the war be...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Fair enough. I admit i overreacted too much, that was an interesting tidbit about Freyja's "When the Rune Sparkles in September" song. I guess i was that upset about Delta being a weak entry in the Macross franchise that i just jumped on the bandwagon of making an excuse to get even angrie...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
In YouTube, I came across a particular Delta AMV that surprised and disturbed me in terms of the outright plagiarism that clearly happened in combining one of Freyja's songs with Earth Wind and Fire's "September". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvqXCK9tD7o Not only is that weak in my opin...

Re: Gundam Mega Marathon
Episode 12 of 08th MS Team is probably one of the biggest POS finales to what is otherwise a harmony of mecha and romantic precision! Who wanted Kiki and Michel to be the leads on the writing staff anyway?! It would've made more sense for the whole team be discharged and look for Shiro and Ai...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Thanks, Arbiter! My apologies for waiting so long until now to get through the final two episodes of Delta. I actually didn't come out of it disappointed with the series as a whole because the final battle and performance by Walkure was so epic and amazing! The love triangle resolved so ne...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Watched episode 24 earlier tonight. I was really touched emotionally to see Reina being there for Makina when she took the sniper shot meant for Freyja. But for some reason, probably due to Reina's way of being repressive with her emotions even in one where her best friend is hurt, it felt a bit und...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
Does this mean I have to watch December Sky in order to fully grasp season 2? I ask because last we saw in season 1, Io and the Feddies were taken prisoner by the victorious Zekes and only in the movie version do we see their escape from captivity. I'm all in favor of a new season but for some reaso...

Re: Macross Mega Marathon
Here's my review of Do You Remember Love?. The animation was pretty ahead of it's time considering it was made in 1984 and so much attention to detail was paid. From the rainbow in Saturn to Hikaru going up stairs to get to Minmay, it was very awesome. Characters like Global, Claudia, Max, Kakizaki,...

Re: Gundam Mega Marathon
Took an extended break from 08th to get back on track with Gundam Wing. Saw episode 2 and the grunt underwater suits may be easy fodder for the Deathscythe to slash through, they did surprisingly put up a good fight.

Re: Gundam Mega Marathon
I'm feeling the Gundam itch especially after having watched the first episode of the 08th MS Team in over a decade and feeling the urge to share my opinion on it with all of you with your kind indulgence. Shiro Amada is equal parts cocky and caring with his initial desire to wipe out all Zeon from E...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Last time I kept up with Delta was ep. 19 with the big lesson in Macross history. Is it wrong of me to feel annoyed when the original Macross theme song played when it got to that point? Don't know why but it just felt tacked on. As for how the triangle was at that point, I adored the Hayate/Mirage ...

^ Thanks!
I saw episode 4 of Macross Seven in recent times and I definitely have to side with the Diamond Force who are getting more and more tired of Basara's antics as well as Max's apparent inefficiency at dealing with him.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
I'm slowly making some progress in watching the second half of the series and I have to admit that episode 18 had some stunning visuals in it's aerial combat and Protoculture ruin hijinks where it seems like Freyja is unknowingly causing Hayate more harm than good in their sync of piloting and singi...
