Re: State of the Titans (post-Gryps)
So... I'd never heard of Gundam Walpurgis before now. I did some digging, and what I found is so incredibly stupid I had to double-check to make sure someone wasn't taking the piss. I have seldom been so glad - so thoroughly overjoyed - that Sunrise's official position is that only animated Gundam ...

Re: Rick dias development
Yep, that prototype is from M-MSV so its still part of the Rick Dias tree, just different source material which is the usual Gundam sources contradicting one another. I think it is not a contradiction just because of omission. Prototypes are usually omitted because it is clear that the unit is deri...

Re: Rick dias development
Hi, I just wanted some clarification on the Rick dias development. I have seen that the Rick Dias is based on the dowas custom and the gp02 but I have also seen I believe on this forum that it was originally said to be based on the galbaldy beta. Is this just a case of retconing of newer material? ...

Re: Tetsujin 28 FX
I watched the whole thing on TV(at least most of it, may have missed an episode or 2)
Redesign of 28 is pretty good but the story doesn't leave much impression. I completely forgot what it was about.

Re: State of the EFSF (post-Gryps)
Well, it is kinda a hard question. AEUG used written off ships from EFSF, meaning the EFSF very likely have some new ships replacing those, just that we don't really know how many and what those are.(Since they write off Salamis Kai's you'd expect them to be something better) And in any case, after ...

Re: Mystic Mechs?
Saint Seiya may also qualify, with Cloths (Magical Armor) given by the Goddess Athena, plus the Cosmo power is mystical in nature. Granted this would be more Mystical Power Armor, but still Another factor in the mystic mecha is the cockpit itself. In Neo Ranga there isn't a "cockpit" more...

Re: Mystic Mechs?
would the mobile fortress Deca Dence fit in? because IIRC it ran on this monster blood that when used in some sort of machine allowed flight so maybe its magic? (if you ever get the chance watch Deca Dence its a fun show) kinda? replace the name of that juice with "magical power" and that...

Re: Mystic Mechs?
The titular thing from Neo Ranga doesn't really have any mystical aspect to it. It's worshipped as a god due to tradition after being encountered long ago by pre-scientific islanders, but it's really just an unconventional lifeform anatomically similar to coral. Neo Ranga, in all sense, is just sim...

Re: Mystic Mechs?
Yeah, Brave Raideen is probably the oldest example in anime... though, like most such examples, Clarke's Third Law is in play and its incredible and occasionally supernatural-seeming abilities are actually a product of the sufficiently advanced technology of the lost continent of Mu. There are a nu...

Re: Mystic Mechs?
So this may be an odd question, but how far back do mystical themed mechs go? I'm referring to the fact the mech itself seems to be organic in nature, and is more or less summoned by the characters(Like Neo Ranga, Gasaraki, or to a degree Ideon). It seems like something that probably goes back to t...

Re: Jerid's Newtype Power
I've read that the novel version of Zeta Gundam did offer a better argument for Jerid being a newtype by putting him in Bask Om's newtype unit for the final battle... but having never read the novels myself, I can't verify that. Whether he was inducted into that unit because he was actually a newty...

Re: The Military Might of Axis Zeon (post-Gryps)
That seems to be a reoccurring issue with the depiction of the colonies, mainly that they never seem to have enough build up or population to match the background info. Logically the density should resemble Coruscant the city planet from Star Wars; although it's worth noting that later UC works lik...

Re: Neo Ranga
So who has watched this? It's an older and somewhat obscure mech show with and interesting premise (Three sister pilot a Kaiju like Mech as part of the inheritance from a Tropical Kingdom). They end up facing both several monsters and the JSDF itself, who are suspicious of the Neo Ranga. Aside from...

Re: The Military Might of Axis Zeon (post-Gryps)
found this old post Welp, here's some useless information from moi as usual. Paging through the U.C. Hardgraph Novel (Zeon Side), I came across a population distribution footnote for one of the chapters. Skipping the in between blurbs that state what happens, here's the gist of it: OVERALL POPULATI...

Re: Heat Weapons
Considering heat weapons can block beam sabres or similar melee beam weapons, they can be of some use even if not directly use for attack.

Re: Heat Weapons
Since the beam shield basically protects by burning or at least melting the incoming object down, short lancers can penetrate it by simply punching through with enough mass and some ablative coating like anti-beam coating or at least beam resistive coating.

Re: Heat Weapons
Shot lancers don't employ heat weapon technology. They're inert but extremely tough kinetic energy penetrators that are launched using "railgun-like" electromagnetic launchers for the specific goal of neutralizing enemy mobile suits in situations where the risk of a reactor breach is unac...

Re: Railgun Type Weapons
True, though there are ways to suppress muzzle flashes... and railguns in a vacuum are going to be naturally less inclined to produce once since the system has no flammable/explosive propellant driving the shell. yes, but in the current state, railguns will produce a lot of heat and heat is very ob...
