Re: What books are you reading?

Slaughterhouse Five is another that lived up to what I was expecting, and very much enjoyed it. Currently, I'm reading another well known World War II story I've heard about over the years but never read but don't really know what to expect: Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I'm about 30 pages in and pret...

Re: What books are you reading?

Well, Casino Royale was as good as I expected it to be, and I was a bit surprised at how relatively close the film stayed to the story. At some point, I know I'll have to look up the other Fleming books, but I've still got a bit of a backlog to go through. :D The next up was The Bedford Boys by Alex...

Re: What books are you reading?

Listening to Rush (as opposed to El Rushbo) while reading his novels sounds like an interesting multi-sensory experience! :D A lot of their stuff, particularly the mid-80's stuff that was more synthesizer based which is what I had going at the time, can really fit in as the soundtrack to all sorts ...

Re: It fell from outerspace

IIRC, the colony drop on Australia had the yield of 100 teratons of TNT. Actually, it was "just" 60,000 megatons that turned Sydney into a 300 mile crater, and that was just the front section of the colony. Of course, as must always pointed out when this subject comes up, the colony drops...

Re: What books are you reading?

So Neuromancer was as good as it was the first time, perhaps better now that I understood some of the technobabble parts ahead of time. Count Zero , from what I read of it, was pretty good, but the usual combination of football season and life (Namely working in a toy store during the lead up to the...

Re: The Strongest Gundam: Is there any?

What have you done. The same thing I would do? :P Really, even excluding the Turn A's awesome powers, it's an impossible subject. We have no way of know how the technology of one universe would interact with that of another, particularly when talking about UC stuff like Minovsky Particles (Which is...

Re: Watching the UC series for the first time

Unless I'm completely misremembering things, I believe they made some pretty notable edits to it on the Midnight Run, such as editing out Garcia's death. Well, they edited out the exact shot of him getting hit, then him setting off the mines. Instead, you see him run out toward the Alex, I think th...

Re: What books are you reading?

Well, I knocked out The Battle of Mogadishu pretty quickly. It's really a must read for anyone who also liked Black Hawk Down and I enjoyed it. Now, I'm going to reread William Gibson's Neuromancer . I first read it two years ago and loved it, and I recently picked up the two sequels ( Count Zero an...

- Bindra Team- The AEUG team responded with inaccurate fire, but continued to move away from their fleet as Ball wanted them too… But they were also drifting close to the area where the Peoron team now seemed fully engaged. That wasn’t exactly what Ball wanted, but as long as they kept away from tho...

-The Luzon - -Bridge- The first group of Gaza-C’s were fully engaged with the remaining suits of the Luzon and the Rick Dias team, but were so entangled that the gunners on the Luzon could barely fire without the risk of hitting their own MS. The fight was practically on top of the Salamis Kai at th...

-Team 2- The Salamis Kai took another hit from Sophie, and promptly sent another barrage into their area, which Eddie avoided my unintentionally making the same maneuver in the same direction as Sophie. As her C-Type let loose another shell at the damaged Titan ship, Eddie relocated the distant Hiza...

Re: What books are you reading?

After much delay due to work, video games, and other crap, I finished the Phillip K. Dick collection... sorta... The Man in the High Castle was probably the one of the four I enjoyed the most. It was very good, but the flaw is that it just sorta ends without any real sense of conclusion. Lots of plo...

Re: MS-06R-2 and beam weapons

A question this thread brought back to my mind: Was the RGM-79 GM's standard armament of a single beam saber and the beam spray gun brought about due to power issues or cost? The former was the reason usually given back in the day, that the GM's reactor couldn't power a full on beam rifle and/or two...

Re: Timing for Zeta II

All fascinating stuff, Mark. A few random questions/thoughts... If the March 2nd date is given to the launch of Project Zeta, then would the attack on Green Noa be moved to April 11 as you mentioned earlier? Or would that event be moved around further? Related to that, since we may be moving around ...

Re: Mission Accepted- Gundam Wing Rewatch

The same exact thing happened to me a couple years back -- I found the first few volumes of the show on DVD at a flea market and got pumped, like, "Yeah! I'm gonna rewatch Gundam Wing and re-live my childhood!" That endeavor ended up falling to the wayside after about three episodes due t...

Re: Unicorn Episode 4 Pegasus

Both Grey Phantom types were blown up in 0083 when Gato stole the GP02A though, because both were present at the Naval Review when Gato nuked it, if memory serves they were actually closest to the center of the formation. So is this a third Grey Phantom class then? They weren't exactly at the cente...

- Bindra Team- They pressed in, with Tuzenbach firing a couple of shots that didn’t seem to hit, but did cause the AEUG team to start shifting its angle in the way Ball wanted them to, which gave him an idea. “Open fire to the left side of the AEUG team, they should keep moving where we want them to...

- Nunavut Team- Faisal’s Hizack struggled to adjust to its lost foot as the Nemo resumed pressing in, beam rifle firing. One beam connected with the Hizack’s head, causing a number of screens to go blank as the suit shuddered violently. “Just die already!” Faisal grunted, feeling pain of not-quite-h...

-Team 2- Eddie was dimly aware that Sophie began firing her 240mm cannon at the distant Titan Salamis Kai , and that a Nemo Cannon lacking an arm and a leg was passing them on its way back to the 4th, but was more focused on the incoming fire from its pair of Hizacks, which was coming much closer th...

Re: trigger mechanisms for MS guns

It's also worth noting that a hand plug is not just a trigger method, that is also a way that mobile suits provide power to weapons, specifically beam weapons. In the case of UC MS, where they always have to provide some of their own power to make those weapons fire (If they aren't providing all the...
