@Seto Kaiba: I know that everything could be explained with "the author likes it", buy could you maybe... nah, I won't ask you to keep the kayfabe. Just know that not everything could be as "clean" as Macross.

The Jegan A-Type's long beam rifle, and some ramblings about the Jegan line.
The long beam rifle in question is the Jegan A-Type. Like the J-Type it was developed from, the A-Type had its own model of beam rifle different from the one used by the Jegan line pre-100 U.C. How ever, Vasuki/Yazan Gable's GM III Night Seeker carried the same beam rifle as the Jegan A-Type, and th...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
So, anyone here going to buy the upcoming Chogokin DX VF-25F? Or are you saving money for the Chogokin YF-29 that they teased on Twitter?
Personally, I'm broke, so no for me.

The best thing ever been thrown by a mecha?
Just for fun, can we talk about the best thing that has ever been thrown by a mecha, from boulder to another mecha? IMHO the missile toss in Xabungle is the best.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
How popular was Macross II when it came to the States anyway? I recently listened to a podcast talking about Plus, and it seems like for a lot of fans back then put Plus on the pedestal.

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
You know, with how much the Protoculture had their noses in everything, and just how humanity is trying to trace back their steps, it would be fun for the next Macross to build on the ideas alluded to in Zero and Delta--having a cult that say only they know the full plan the Protoculture had in stor...

Why did the EFF used Zeon's 120mm cartridge after the war?
I know that the real reason why the Hi-Zack didn't use a 90mm machine gun instead of 120mm was because there hadn't been 0080 to invent it yet. But is there any possible explanation for why the EFF chose to go with Zeon's 120mm cartridge instead of the newer 90mm? I suppose that the EFF captured ton...

[Crosspost from Reddit] How the Cartoon/Fantasy Organization - torchbearers of anime in America in the 80s - was brought
(Wanted to post this here because a lot the 70s and 80s anime fans were tied up with mecha) I’ve been making a list of notable people who had a hand in shaping the American anime fandom from the 70s to the 90s (which you can read and comment here ). Many of them were members of the Cartoon/Fantasy O...

Fluid pulse vs. field motor
Does anyone remember if there had ever been a time when a mobile suit with fluid pulse system being disabled because its cable being severed? If so, then why exactly did Zeon put these cables on the outside other than making maintenance easier?

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread
I still haven't watched the second Delta movie. Was there any scene that the Draken III put its sword to good use? If I remember correctly, they didn't do much on TV, so I always think that these swords have ceremonial use more than anything.

Mechas with a very skeleton-like plates-on-frame look?
I don't remember who say this to me first, but it seems like there is a renewed interest in the type modular mechs that are very skeleton-like, those that you can instantly see the plates being bolted onto the frames. I suppose it is because of the push model kits like 30 Minutes Mission and Frame A...

What do we know about Luna Titanium?
Has it been stated anywhere that when was Luna Titanium created successfully for the first time? Was it considered a military secret back then? And beside the fact that you needed to make it in zero gravity, was there any other difficulties in making Luna Titanium (material, machinery, etc.)?

GoFundMe campaign to help Miyatake
As you know, Kazutaka Miyatake lost his wife and his home to a fire last year. Now people have set up a GoFundMe to help him. The goal is $18,000. You should give it a look if you can. Here is the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-beloved ... ragic-fire

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
I wonder if any of the Macross money went into Earth Maiden Arjuna... Also, was idea or design in Aquarion originated from Kawamori's unused concepts? Also, was the discussion on the movie adaptation helmed by Studio Nue or Bandai? I recently heard some hearsay that after the OVA market passed its p...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
So on Twitter a few people are talking about why Kawamori did so many guest spots as a mechanical designers for things like Gundam, Cyber Formula, etc. The posts basically said that after the Bubble Era, most studios just wanted to bank on established franchise. Eventually Kawamori fed up with it an...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Oddly, the Macross franchise hasn't really got a huge presence in thinbooks... apart from the inevitable h-doujinshi you'd expect from any popular series. The first noteworthy Macross doujinshi was penned by M.A.T. - originally styled "Multi-configuration Analysis Team", later changed to ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
Say, was there any creators who got their start doing Macross fan arts/doujins/etc.? A friend recently recommended me some Saint Seiya doujins made by CLAMP before their professional debut, so I just want to ask. Now think about it, a good number of mechanical designers started out as fan artists or...
