Re: MG Ball ver Kai
Looks good, normally I would have gone for a matte coat on something gray and simple like that, but the gloss actually looks very good.

Re: 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame
Oh does the MG Astray or other CE kits make use of polycaps or is that just a defining feature of HG joints?

Re: 1/100 Gundam Astray Red Frame
This thread answered most of my questions concerning the NG 1/100 Red Frame, but can you guys list the other differences between this and the MG RF kai? I know NG 1/100 has no internal frame I assume: 1) fewer points of articulation in the NG 1/100 2) only the gebera straight, not the other sword 3)...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box
Edit: since Chris later clarified he's not big on 'top 10' type questions I'm changing my question. Here goes; What are your (collective you) opinions on the presence of transforming MS in any of the Gundam universe (UC or any of the AC). Is there a point and do they make any sense within the logic ...

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links
edit: also, since you're in Los Angeles, if you're interested, ThoseGundamGuys do a monthly model build gathering out in Orange County; and there are about 20-30 folks that build at all levels, and you can really learn a lot if you're interested in becoming a better modeler. Great info and thanks. ...

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links
Personally, I use Tamiya clear spray cans, available in gloss, semi-gloss and flat for that matte finish. Some people say Krylon sprays are pretty good (and the cans are bigger). Just be sure not to spray too close if the model's painted or it'll ruin the paintjob. So i picked up a couple different...

Another question fot the Gundamn crew: the MSG dub audio clip in the podcast with the very British sounding Bright and everyone pronouncing Gundam as 'Gundamn', which version dub was that sampled from? I've heard references to a British voiced Bright before but never knew where it came from until n...

Re: Pacific Rim (Upcoming mecha vs kaiju movie)
I think it sounds freakin' cool! The backstory looks pretty well thought out, and the portal to another universe idea is neat. DelToro has a gift for taking the fantastic and making it look like it could be taking place in the real world. If I had to choose someone to create a believable depiction ...

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box
Here's a question for the gundamn crew: While it's true that Gundam ZZ sort of had 'team gundam' with the Zeta, ZZ, and Mk II fighting together, piloted by Judau & Co, G Gundam really started the 'lets make EVERYTHING a gundam' and then Gundam Wing really solidified the 'Gundam Sentai team' (pil...

Gunpla Builders I've heard of, never seen it, but hearing the discussions has given me a little interest on it now. Like the guys said, it's fun gunpla fanwank, but I enjoyed it and even tho it's shameless gunpla advertising, it's fun enough that it does it's job. Hell, I got back into Gundam model...

Re: Latest Gundam/Mecha Merchandise thread (2008-2010)
Just picked up 1/144 HG Geara Zulu Angelo Sauper Custom as well as the 1/100 MG Hi-Nu Gundam, which I won't be touching for a while because I'm just getting back into the Gunpla hobby, I don't want to mess that kit up.

Re: Modeling Tips/Techniques/Help links
I've been using liquid cement a lot lately, so I share your concern over how it may effect your other tools. I haven't used other brushes myself, but the directions say to "wash up with water." So as long as you do that I can't imagine the cement ruining a fine-tipped brush, though I'd pe...

If it hasn't been mentioned before, maybe a spotlight on a couple lesser known but good mecha related OVAs Dragon's Heaven (chris should know this one since the mech designs appear on MAHQ) Roujin Z, yeah the movie about the mecha nursing home bed, I think that story was WAY ahead of its time. And I...

Question about model glue/cement application
When I used to build plastic kits in the past I was always using those awkward Testors style cement squeeze tubes http://www.darcyshobbyshop.com/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/testors%203501%20cement.jpg But now I've recently gotten back into Gunpla and want to start using the bottled cement...

All aboard Gundam airlines (ANA)

Finished watching the first abridged ep as well as finishing the untranslated 3 eps, great series for ppl into gunpla porn, love how the show is so shamelessly self referential and such a blatant Gunpla ad.

I'll throw it out there since it hasnt been mentioned yet. Fullmetal Alchemist, discussion of the original 2003 anime series vs the relaunch 2010 series FMA:Brotherhood. 1. Minmay is supposed to be Chinese or Japanese right? Well how come in this dub she sounds... French? I think? Minmay is Japanese-Chinese. And that voice is Mari Ijima, the Japanese voice actress of Minmay. Yes, she speaks English just fine. In fact, she lives in the USA. [/quote] I thought Minmay...
