Re: Conventional vehicles with MS tech
First of all there is the armour. With Gundam-style armour (and it doesn't really matter which series we take it from), you won't see tanks being destroyed by missiles and "normal" guns. Speaking about missiles, many MS throughout the franchise have packed heavy loads of small/micro missil...

Re: just finished watching Macross Frontier...
The writers wrote themselves into a corner regarding whom Alto would choose, so they went with neither. A complete cop-out, and the ending itself was rushed even without the lack of a relationship resolution. The show was still pretty good and an awesome introduction to the Macross franchise. But, i...

Re: Real Robot??
Apart from G Gundam, Gundam is Real Robot, except when it's not. Times such as the endings of both Zeta and Char's Counterattack. Yes, Newtypes communicating telepathically and falling in love with one another was annoying (to me at least), but the Robots were still Real most of the time. There are ...

Re: Lasers in Gundam
They have some effect on infrared, but not enough to prevent heat sensors from working in all the U.C. shows. (This is normally how incoming mobile suits are first detected.) So can I take this to mean that the infra-red wavelengths are only impaired/distorted, putting a maximum range limitation on...

Re: Lasers in Gundam
Maybe I missed the memo, but why aren't certain lasers affected by Minovsky Particles? I thought that the particles affected the electromagnetic spectrum. Which, if I may add, consists of radio waves and gamma rays and everything in between. So why do some lasers get an exemption? Plot necessity?

Re: Lasers in Gundam
Didn't early Mobile Suits in UC have anti-laser coatings on their shields? Which would indicate that either they expected to be fighting a lot of battleships, or that the other fighters/tanks/MS they were fighting had laser-based weaponry.

Re: Have any real robot series explained their control schemes?
Well, of course there's the initial laziness combined with "we don't have time to properly explain this but we'll throw it in there anyway" syndrome. Usually this means that the explanations have to be invented after the show has aired. But really, even if Mobile Suits and other Real Robot...

I'm glad I bought the Gasaraki boxset for $120. You never know what's going to be hard to find later on. That's why impulse buying usually works out.

Re: Miguel Aiman surived in Gundam SEED, can someone fill me in?
The thing is, I never DID buy some of the more ludicrous ideas in UC - spirit-powered Gundams in MY Real Robot show? For shame! So there is no pressing reason I should accept the ridiculous instances of survival and whatnot from other entries into the franchise, even if they aren't as bad as those i...

Re: Miguel Aiman surived in Gundam SEED, can someone fill me in?
3. In one of the Astray mangas, someone (I believe Lowe) finds Kira unconscious immediately after the battle, from whence Kira is taken to the Plants. How he survives the massive explosion with a breached cockpit, I don't know, but his appearance in the Plants is actually well-documented outside of...

Re: The true head of the Tallgeese
oz seems to have never given manned MP units the ability to rotate the head the aries can but the bulk of the tv units can't. the serpent fixes that flaw though. I don't think that being unable to turn your head is a Bad Thing. Such an inability would make costs go down and ruggedness go up, since ...

Re: How far is Axis from side 3 and the earth sphere
im surprised they survived there trip running low on fuel, cold etc. I believe I read that almost all warships going between the Belt and the Earth have to resupply en route (where exactly I don't know), except for the Gwazine class ships, which can carry enough food and parts for the entire journey.

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?
They are two separate systems, as listed in the Mecha profile. I do understand what you're getting at however. Though it is possible that the beam shields would use the beam from the sabres, if the sabres are destroyed or otherwise unusable then you've just lost your shielding as well. You'd have to...

thats just the thing there wasn't any way to properly shield against neutron jammers, its pointed out during the meeting between Azrael and the other grand poobahs of the EA when rau gives them the specs for N jammer canceller technology, and the council argues they should use them to get the nucle...

Re: Cars in CE
The key phrase is "properly shielded". If we assume that warships are nuclear-powered in CE (which despite being unproven is by Occam's Razor a better theory than inventing some new-fangled powerplant), then there must be some way to shield against neutron jammers without relying on a neut...

Re: RahXephon Ending... I'm confused...(super spoiler!!)
You're not too far off, sushicake. Ayato altered the nature of the world, but he didn't wipe away the good with the bad. He still remember Haruka, and the series ends on the sweet note of him painting the day he met her and how the meeting went. After watching everything play out on a grand stage, ...

Re: RahXephon Ending... I'm confused...(super spoiler!!)
Yes, the seashore scene depicted in the coda happened before the series started, when Haruka and Ayato were adolescents. I don't know what version of RahXephon you watched, but at the very least, in the R4 DVD the very last thing we see of the final episode is the message "And that is how they ...

Re: Impulse Gundam's mobile shield
The problem with using Forbidden to prove your point is that it's shoulders are Phase Shifted. Meaning the bent beam could very well be from the Phase Shift rather then some Anti-Beam Coating. Phase Shift Armour doesn't bend beams. For almost all intents and purposes, it is as useless against beams...

Re: Impulse Gundam's mobile shield
But getting G-Panzer tech from just plainly looking at the Forbidden (the only thing equipped with it at the time) in a few months is impossible. Actually a couple of years, and if you allow for the side stories then there were multiple MS to copy the tech from. In those side stories, Forbidden spa...

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-03-20/mamoru-nagano-gothicmade-anime-preview-streamed I had thought the project dead since I hadn't heard anything about it in like three years. I think it is nice to know that it is still alive and still coming along, albeit extremely slowly. But hey, at le...
