Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Say, how important is it for Valkyrie to have hands? I mean, except the rifles and the knives, there does not seem to be many choice when it comes to hand-held VF weapons. So why will they not go a step further an intergrated the guns directly to the forearms? I ask this after reading a lot about Ba...

In U.C, how close can a space ship goes before it is detected?

Sure, Minovsky particles makes long range detection unreliable at best, but what about visual detection? I did read that if the USS Enterprise were to fly over Mars, the Hubbles could even discern the marking on the hull. I know that it is not a good comparision, but still, space combat in U.C looks...

Can Space Colonisation discourage war?

In my opinion, Space Colonisation can actually discourage war, or at least interplanetary wars. The reason is that unless you have jump ship and is confident on a quick victory, the cost of transportation, intelligence, and pacification would be too high to justify the profit. And, if you think abou...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Is it me or does the Star Mirage is undergunned? And how did they managed to cram in so many weapons to the YF-21 compared to the Thunderbolt? And say, beside Shoji Kawamori, who has the final say on the world of Macross? I mean, if you think about it, he seems to keep a tight control about his univ...

Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

How expensive a learning computer can be? I mean, if you look at this day and age, even undergraduates are building AI capable of deep learning. Not to mention that it is very likely for the pilots to control a MS, they would need an advanced A.I system to handle a lot of the work.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

Was it Kycilia, Ghiren, or Degwin that kept the pretense of peace between Zeon and the Federation for a few more year after the death of Deikun? And what if Jimba Ral had succeeded Deikun instead of Degwin as the new leader of Zeon? Would there be an immediate war with the Federation, in addition to...

Re: Which series has "cornerstone" mecha designs?

So, my work with the mecha is almost done, and now I move to other combat vehicles design. I am looking for warship designs that mimics the look of animal (for the animal super robot faction). Anyone have any idea other than toku shows? I am looking for something kind of like this: http://www.eureka...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

It is a shame, really - a show named Delta should have had its titular Valkyrie a delta-winged one. And also, why did they not just design an entirely new Valkyrie if they need the mobility given by the forward-swept wings so much? I mean, I can understand modification such as a two-seat cockpit, bu...

Re: Effect of beam weapon on electrical system

How is the innards of a MS is cooled anyway (especially the fusion reactor)? There are heat sinks (as seen in the F91), but what about liquid or gas cooling systems? Regarding the matter of heat transfer, then yeah, you guys are probably right. The damage of heat is probably negligible in the case o...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

With respect to cockpit and upper torso shapes of early VF designs, contours of the upper torso became less flat pretty much right away after the VF-1 Valkyire. That said, that's more a question of the shape of the panels the upper torso is shaped from. The VF-1's cockpit orientation was the standa...

Effect of beam weapon on electrical system

A beam saber can generate several thousands degree Celsius. That much heat can melt down any circuitry and wiring system in split seconds. But we have seen MS which has been stabbed several times and still able to wobbly around. How did they make the MS damage-resistant like that?

How fast can the Newtype brainwave be?

More specifically, how long does it take between a Newtype giving an order and the Funnels operates accordingly? I mean, it is said that INCOMs are always slower than Funnels, as the machine takes time to translate the brainwave into electrical signal, and then transfer it by wire to the INCOMs. And...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Say, when did the slab-like chest of the VF-1 is replaced by shapes more round and cockpit-like in latter Valkyrie? As I see it, it changed as soon as the VF-X3. And is this because the VF-1 has the surface behind the cockpit split into only two parts instead of three? And what is the legacy of the ...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

1. Which books should I read if I want to knows how the world of Macross works (politic, economy, etc)? Macross Chronicle would be the big one, particularly the Worldguide and History sheets. There are some of the interviews, like Otona Anime #9 that might be of interest too. (That one talks about ...

Talking about the iasting impact of Zeon MS, do you think that the Pezun Dowadge made any impact on latter models? I try to see if there is anything similar between it and the Dreissen, but could find none.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

So, the accusation must have been right. In the beginning I have expected Delta to make Mirage a great pilot, but she ended up being so-so. Anyway, I kinda like the music, but has there been anytime Macross experimented with different genres of musics other than bubblegum pop and rock? Metal? Punk? ...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

There's usually some kind of explanation floating around, most of which are quite mundane and line up with their real-world reasoning. Most wings are variable sweep to at least some extent, to allow for storage and to facilitate transformation. So what about the wings of the VF-4? Other than the th...
