Re: The proliferation of coordinator tech in Cosmic Era

Was it ever stated anywhere that the experiments that "created" George Glenn were done by a state-sponsored institution or a private party? Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: C.E. Mechanics and World is somewhat vague on the subject of who exactly developed the gene optimization tech that would lat...

Re: Metallic Rouge

Watched the latest episode of Metallic Rouge earlier, and it's another episode replete with examples of this show's problematic writing. It wants to do the I, Robot /Measure of a Man schtick, but only as a sideshow to fill airtime between off-brand Rockman X encounters with the Nean version of Irreg...

Re: Bang Brave Bang Bravern

For me, this most recent episode was definitely more tolerable than the last few. Not anything I'd call "good" or "enjoyable", but at least less irritating? My main issue with Bravern is that it won't pick a lane keeps wanting to be both a serious action series AND a goofy parody...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

Are you referring to the part about inheriting tech they don't understand / can't maintain or the part about viewing alternate timelines? The part about viewing alternate timelines. The whole premise of Turn A Gundam is that there are no alternate timelines. That's why the title is ∀ Gundam . ∀ is ...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

Well for one the moonrace has plenty of technology they inherited and don't understand. My read on the Black History is that they could view alternate timelines but could not interact or communicate with it. TBH, I'm really not sure how you arrived at that interpretation... it's definitely not what...

Re: Spreading Minovsky Particles

Several projects I've worked on have been due to the modern day's military desire for "Energy Resilience", something to allow the base or facilities to maintain power if civilian power is disrupted, so I wouldn't be surprised if in the Universal Century they had similar goals and Federati...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

I personally prefer that the Black History as showing multiple timelines that all end with the moonlight butterfly rather than one continuous timeline. That'd require the Moonrace to be pretty firmly on the other side of Clarke's Third Law... if they have the technology to access other realities wh...

Re: Spreading Minovsky Particles

Very interesting, I had known about the massive solar panels on the O'Neil cylinders but never noticed solar panel being the primary energy generator on Earth when I had watched MSG. There's a reason for that... the infrastructure is principally in space. Per the few official print materials to dis...

Re: Spreading Minovsky Particles

I'm assuming Minovsky fusion reactors are common for civilian use and provide all the day-to-day energy needs for Earth / Colonies right? Not an unreasonable assumption to make, given the dominance of thermonuclear reactors in the military sphere... but Earth and the Sides run mainly on solar power...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

Fair point, but we can modify the analogy to a magnet being able to levitate a piece of metal off the ground but force required to equal gravity isn't necessarily strong enough to stop that piece of metal if it's dropped from a high enough distance. This is true, up to a point... it really depends ...

Re: Spreading Minovsky Particles

So in Mobile Suit Gundam's world building, the reason that warfare is conducted at short range is that Minovsky particles interferes with or damages unshielded electronics, rendering long range guided missiles moot and in this universe warfare is similar to WW2 ship broadsides at a long distance. M...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

[No I caught all that the first time, the raft of Minovsky particles is creating an upward force on the mobile suit to either equal or exceed the force of gravity pulling it downwards allowing it to hover / ascend / descend. That said my hand can comfortable hold a 35kg weight above my head providi...

Re: Bang Brave Bang Bravern

Another episode down and I am still not sure what to make of this series. Bravern's kind of a complete arsehole and Isami clearly does NOT want any part of this story, which kind of makes the whole thing a bit unpleasant to watch. That it keeps trying to have it both ways with the Human characters d...

Re: Spreading Minovsky Particles

So I'm hoping you all can help with a related question since I haven't been any to find anything conclusive yet. I'm specifically asking regarding Mobile Suits and smaller craft since I know that some Mobile Armors (Big Zam, Aspalus, Adzam) can already do this. Can mobile suit(s) or small support u...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

I'm not sure I'm following this one, the Minovsky Craft generating lift on a large physical object is a bit different than stopping a high velocity bullet isn't it? It's not actually generating aerodynamic lift, which is why I put "lift" in quotes... what it's actually producing is repuls...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

I don't recall any of the I-Fields in the show necessarily blocking physical projectiles? If you want to get technical about it, the Minovsky Craft system is a rather large-scale unconventional example... Also you mentioned an I-Field on Turn A's shield, is that confirmed in the kit manual? It's me...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam

Yes I recall from the discussion regarding unusual weapons a ways back that the Turn A even uses I-Fields to control its Gundam Hammers. The Turn A still has thrusters though right? I recall it using some sort of propulsion when it was underground in the Corrin Nander episode. Yeah, the Turn-A stil...

Re: Bang Brave Bang Bravern

So... I started this series tonight because someone actually specifically sought me out and asked me if I was watching it and what I thought of it. I'm just gonna kind of run with the commentary while I watch. Honestly, the first thing that stood out to me is that the studio did not do a very good j...

Re: Metallic Rouge

Watching the third episode of Metallic Rouge now, and apart from the previous episode apparently being a 22 minute plot tumor with no bearing on the story going forward the writing really has not improved at all. It's not as pants-on-head idiotic as The Price of Smiles , but it ain't great. It's bac...

Re: Metallic Rouge

Watched the first two episodes earlier today, and it's doin' nothing for me. Wanting to start in medias res is a fine storytelling technique, but to make it work you have to either have a lot of time to build up to things and a story compelling enough to keep the audience around for it or be extreme...
