Re: Zeon an allegory for japan?

The Japanese people certainly haven't tried to justify that stuff, but a decent chunk of them are in denial about it, which really makes any Japanese media with nationalistic overtones worrying. It's just too easy to see Japanese nationalism go out of control again. I don't buy it. I'm not familiar...

Re: Benefit/Effectiveness of a 0079 Remake?

Even 10 years ago, the MSG animation level was already pretty disengaging to teenage viewers. I think it's a good deal to upgrade the animation. Even without the Novel's twist the MSG can still hold on its own. The story and character might need a little cosmetics here and there but the main core va...

Re: zeta gundam and feminism

To this date, I think even Reccoa as a character is believable. I've seen female act foolishly like that. and I've seen man act like Katz. Nothing wrong with having flawed characters, what wrong is what other characters are thinking or reacting to them. For example: very lenient action toward Katz w...

Re: Zeon an allegory for japan?

The show is made by Japanese people and the Federation is usually the good guys. I think some fans like zeon is because they like to root for the underdog. Maybe some of it does root back to some imperialistic wwII and earlier instincts. I agree with that underdog theory, and the fact that Zaku as ...

Re: "Jaburo isn't the target!"

That line confused me as well, but I think Gato is speaking about "the greater scheme of things". of course Jaburo is the target, he changed the coordinate himself, and only the solar ray's 2nd shot altered it from hitting Jaburo. I think what he really mean is : he didn't intend to just s...

Re: lack of discipline in the gundam series

The settings make an excellent excuse tho. so much years into the future without many major battles occurred. I think the UC the military themselves, particularly the space branch of the EFSF isn't as rigid or as disciplined as their real world counterpart. Stardust and 08ms team addressed this issu...

Re: 08th Team Ep.1 "fireworks" dialogue mistake?

I always thought It was a flare, not the small one but the big bright flare that they rarely use to signal retreat. the casing and shape may look like missile but ship launched flare also has similar casings. from that perspective fireworks term fits. the hassle of setting it on is because they have...

Re: the dubbing discussion thread

Japanese for me. it doesn't matter if I heard dub first, I always find the original to be better. Finding dub to be better? try hearing Spiderman in Cantonese or Mandarin? Not that I've heard it myself, but it must be a fascinating experience for any viewers with the know-how about English. For me t...

Re: Sword Art Online

Specifically the part I don't like is that there are other girls still after Kirito and him hooking up with Asuna early means the others will have nothing but heartbreak to look forward to. When there aren't so many rivals I'm totally for the main couple hooking up sooner than later. Ow, my mistake...

Re: Sword Art Online

I actually liked that part where the both of them booked up early. Albeit not new, but it's fresh and differentiate SAO even more from the rest of the genre. I don't want another 50 episodes of painful relationship awkwardness before the hero and heroine finally got together, and then the second sea...

Because she's a 14/15 year old girl. You expect her to be rational? And clearly you've never experienced falling in love online before. I understand your point but there's a major flaw to that. She did 8 years of kendo practice which is an activity that develops a strong mindset and disciplines hum...

Re: Sword Art Online

I agree about forbidden love makes it more exciting. I forgot to add that it varies a lot. saw some old Korean drama on TV just the other day that tells a story about brother and sister not related by blood engage in romantic relationship. but their parents simply won't allow their relationship alth...

Re: Sword Art Online

I just have to ask...what is it about Japan and incest? and on that note...what is it with Japan and putting in the "They're not related by blood" excuse? Because it's okay (Japan and most Asia-wide), although not be encouraged at least in Asia part where I lived, DNA and family-relations...

Don't you remember Episode 7 where Kirito fell WITHOUT wings? *reaches into inventory* http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/1189/mpchc2012112608231149.png that validates it, our hero even without wings doesn't fear falling damage. heck he got lots of agi that somehow in the game translated into faste...

Re: Sword Art Online

I really don't recall falling damage as being more horrible than death from PVP or getting PK-ed while hunting. especially when you did that inside a city where you don't get the usual exp penalty from dying. so it's not a biggie at all. Besides if ALO really mirrored AION, Kirito may fall down but ...

I think, it worth a try. At least he need to check it out personally about that barrier. Maybe thinking perhaps with my haxor stat I could just pierce it all the way through. :D

Besides he got Admin Card from that 'foolish act' thanks to Yui quick thinking.

Nah, he should be amazed at what he had if it's from SAO completion bonus or reward from beating Heatcliff. I think he just have it all the way stashed somewhere in items and just cashed it out before hitting the last dungeon. or, when SAO was finished two of his houses along with one Asuna's, inclu...
