Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk
I admit that the most common complaint about the exposition dumps are not entirely unjustified, but I also feel that people are looking for things to complain about if the only thing on their minds is how they'd prefer to be left in the dark. It's a brand new setting with a ton of characters right o...

Re: Fafner: Exodus
I'm absolutely blown away at the start of Exodus' second cour. I love how Fafner has actually been handling the storytelling. It assumes the viewer has seen everything that came before it and isn't trying to restate exposition just for the convenience of people popping in like some other anime, espe...

Re: Aquarion Logos
I love the "A Ku Ei Ri Ou On" kanji gag. For some reason I eat stuff like that up. I think that episode 13 has actually proven that Logos can hold a little drama in its cup even if I prefer it to be the quirky, dialogue-heavy comedy. It's keeping us guessing as to who might be who, since the clap su...

Re: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Honestly, in terms of production and quality pretty much all of the things I've said about Build Fighters Try can apply to GX. Also I can see a ton of parallels with Nanoha Force, which in general is a bad sign. Spoilering for longpost. I noticed that they dramatically reduced the number of animator...

Re: Aquarion Logos
and, how many forms will this Aquarion have? i already lost count. i do like the rabbit one. In theory this Aquarion in particular can have any number of forms with all the Vectors able to combine in any way. It even has different combinations for whether a Vector is on top or bottom. Theoretically...

Re: Aquarion Logos
Whenever the show focuses on Kokone it gets really good. Shame she's destined to lose in the end. Saviorman's fine with a threesome. Episode 9 had started to make me worrisome that Logos would try and get serious like Evol did and if it does it anything like Evol then I'm fearful for the back half ...

Re: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
It's narrative convenience but without narrative convenience we don't have a plot.
I'm hoping they do more with Bikkidad outside of him being a completely unrepentant and unforgivable jerk since it's the easiest thing in the world to demonize and not interesting in the least.

Re: Red Ash: Magicicada
Inafune's way too addicted to crowdfunding when he's making an entirely new IP when he hasn't even finished Mighty No. 9. I notice the character designs were altered, possibly due to fear Capcom would take legal action since the original ones were basically identical to Megaman Legends, which they s...

Re: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
What was shown is that Hibiki was tormented and her mother and grandmother suffered too. No mention was given to exactly why she was a target and her father was certainly never mentioned. His first mention was here in GX so it's not hard to think her daddy issues were invented solely for this seaso...

Re: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Personal trauma that gets made up as they go along  Only if you haven't been paying attention to how Hibiki puts on a mask whenever she's in a bind and has always been incredibly vague when something's eating at her, preferring to try and ignore it. Even little slice-of-life scenes have suppor...

Re: Yuri and Yaoi
You gotta keep in mind that in terms of equality in general, Japan is decades behind the rest of the world. It's a society of people living in boxes, labelled "Westerner", "gay", "salaryman" and the like, and not staying in your box is a bit of a social faux pas. They expect homosexuals to conform t...

Re: Senki Zesshou Symphogear
But right now I gotta say Hibiki's conflict seems so forced. What happened in G wasn't that great either (how does helping people without knowing suffering hypocritical?) but this is even worse. Hibiki's always had a "talk first, use fists if necessary" policy before so why is she only now worried ...

Re: Aquarion Logos
The word monsters are actually one of the more interesting aspects of it. But yeah, it doesn't feel very "Aquarion-y." Modern setting, two people gattais, no Element powers, and so far it takes itself much too seriously and is missing the silliness of the past shows. I'd have to disagree with you t...

Re: The Official G-Tekketsu Anime Thread Mk I
Concept and setting seems interesting and unique. It looks low-power, and low-power mech settings tend to have a certain charm to them. The mecha design has Ebikawa, who designed my favorite Gundam (and my favorite SRW original) of all time; writing by Okada who wrote one of my favorite ANIME of all...

Re: Recent Mecha Series
The Fool is a show that really chooses its audience. It has an obsession with the stage play atmosphere and... It's difficult to put my finger on what it's tone is. Melodramatic, I would say. It doesn't have nearly as much action as a Kawamori series should have. This season only has two mecha shows...

Re: Dragon Ball (And Shonen in general)
now then....might finally get to watch Hokuto no ken..where should i begin though? any tips people? Honestly, I haven't seen other sources but I think that the first anime series is one of the all-time greats. I've seen scenes from the compilation movies and they just don't have the same charm to t...

Re: Recent Mecha Series
Turn A is a Tomino series, so it of course has action beats frequently. I can't remember if he fell into his habit of having a fight scene in every episode whether it needs one or not, but I think that most of them have some action. I remember the "cow" episode having an action scene, but not the "l...

Re: Recent Mecha Series
Having seen Turn A, I can say it's very different from most Gundam series - the closest thing to it would probably be War in the Pocket, and even that is still apples and oranges. It has sort of an 18th Century American setting (though also biplanes are common) and the general plot isn't about a war...

Re: Next possible Gundam anime teased
The theory of "Tekketsu" I've seen is "Iron Blood". Personally I'm hoping for just another new AU, since there hasn't been one of those since AGE and we haven't had one that was genuinely different in overall feel from UC since CC. I doubt it'd have anything to do with the Turns, since the Turn X wa...

Re: Recent Mecha Series
I've seen a lot of recent mecha series and I can say that it seems like recent series (my definition of "recent" is probably the last five years) have had issues with pacing, and those that have good stories have tended to be a tad slower (M3, Fafner, Argevollen, Shin Mazinger). M3 is very slow and ...
