Re: [UC 0096] Restrictions on Defenser Use?

Oh, wow. I've been so tired lately I forgot about that thread. Yikes. Anyway, these are interesting ideas. If various materials like the model kit manuals basically imply the Defenser packs are the equivalent of sending out a 'mini battleship' of sorts, that would certainly disqualify its use as a d...

Re: [UC 0096] Restrictions on Defenser Use?

Those are interesting thoughts; thanks for chiming in! MythSearcher, what thread are you referring to when you speak of Defenser-B? I'm curious what you had to say about that. The idea that the Defenser Pack makes it less agile overall makes sense, though this makes me wonder why the Gundam Mk. II u...

[UC 0096] Restrictions on Defenser Use?

I've been puzzled by something we see in Gundam Unicorn and its related stories. The idea of Defenser packs to improve a machine appears to have caught on, as evidenced by their use in the ReZEL and ReZEL Commander. Sometimes, pilots will be given authorization to attach these packs and make their u...

Re: ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

Interesting info. Thanks! Talking of a ReZEL pulling back to change equipment... hmm. It has been a while since I watched Zeta. How quickly can a Defenser unit be attached? Was the Super Gundam able to do it in the field pretty fast? I want to say "yes", but that's going off very old memor...

Re: ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

Oh, so THAT'S what the other arm panel is for? Neat. I was wondering where the heck it kept the sabers, couldn't tell from looking at a model kit. Cool. Thanks for the info! Building on something Yazi mentioned... I've also seen a lot of people attach a beam saber blade to the ReZEL's shield beam ca...

Re: ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

The GM III was part of what made me ponder the question! I always liked its mix of firepower, even if the overall mix wasn't quite right in the end and it got replaced by the Jegan for good reason. Actually, this reminds me that the ReZELs all have wrist grenade launchers. I'm curious, how many shot...

Re: ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

I-Fields are extremely uncommon for the most part, to begin with. Fair point, though they're absolutely devastating when they show up (which is, amusingly enough, roughly 'once per war... usually near the end of it!'). It has always surprised me there isn't more effort focused on dealing with those...

Re: ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

Well, most of the official materials (Unicorn episodes) and the games featuring the unit suggest it can maintain that barrage fairly well. I'm just sitting there wondering, "Why four beam weapons? Why not two beam, two missile so it has an answer to I-Fielded mobile armors? Not a GREAT one sinc...

ReZEL Defenser B Redundant Weapons?

I've been fascinated by the ReZEL Type C's Defenser packs lately. Defenser Pack A makes plenty of sense, but Defenser B is... bizarre, and I'm hoping someone can explain the design choice to me. Basically, a ReZEL Type C with Defenser B attached carries 2x Mega Beam Launcher and 2x Mega Particle Can...

That's actually really interesting. I hadn't considered that the Federation went on a big 'Zeon tech purge' from their ranks after that point in the timeline. Good info. Thank you!

Neo Zeon MS use by EFSF? (Also, Hyaku Shiki question)

I have a few topics I'd love to hear some expert input on. We know the Silver Bullet is the result of Anaheim Electronics getting hold of a few salvaged/captured Doven Wolves... but how extensive is this use of captured 0088-era Zeon MS? More specifically, does the Federation use any of them? They d...

Re: Wanzer`s design features

I can't answer all of these, but can field some of them from having played Front Mission 1, 3, 4, and some of 5. Power Plant: I don't know. I do know they're interchangeable. Provided the engine is strong enough to pull the frame and equipment, you can put any engine in any chassis. Controls: Most o...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

Mostly things like him tripping into obstacles, losing his footing and getting 'call a tow crew' level stuck, panic-firing, and things like that. Keith's redeeming qualities as a pilot are 'actually a team player' (in a genre where that's REALLY RARE, I note) and 'not shockingly stupid' because his ...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

As far as the ranking of the GM Custom and GM Cannon II versus other Gryps Conflict-era machines, I think it's worth noting that the GM Custom should be roughly comparable to the GM Quel, and the Titans phased out the latter machine completely in favor of the Hizack. So even with upgrades to bring ...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

So... yeah. It looks like the early AEUG wasn't too bad off in terms of equipment quality. GM IIs are at least reasonably equal to the other common units of the 0085-0086 era, and the handful of GM Customs and GM Cannon IIs they got would have been able to hold their own in dogfights too. This actua...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

So I'm going to answer my own question the GM Cannon II, as I found some useful material. Turns out GundamInfo's video on that MS shows footage of it, the GP-01, GM Custom, and the Gelgoog Marine (plus Commander). The GM Cannon II, near the end of the video, is shown doing clearly competent maneuver...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

Interesting thoughts. So their force composition went something like... "GM II + GM Cannon II + GM Custom + whatever misc. junk lying around", then "plus add the Rick Dias", then "scale back Rick Dias production in favor of more Nemos", and that's their mass production ...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

Apolly and Roberto are indeed ex-Zeon. ...Or possibly ex-EFSF. They mention that they didn't bother with the instruction manuals for their mobile suits during the One Year War in Zeta episode 1 or 2 (Quattro even gets after them about it, telling Roberto that attitude will get him killed). Several v...

Re: AEUG Early MS?

That sounds about right. It's amazing to see how convoluted their MS roster gets, only to be simplified later on by focusing primarily on the Nemo and Rick Dias. Anyway, thank you again for the insights. It sounds like I caught most of the usual suspects, with the nod that they probably have one-off...
