Re: How is "Black History" defined?

I don't see the contradiction either See the following statement from that thread: all Gundam series shows, starting with Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979, exist in a single timeline. Unless that statement is an incorrect/inaccurate translation/interpretation, it doesn't seem to be suggesting a merging o...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?

From CC's (or at least Turn A the show's) perspective, there is not even any need for connected timelines. As I recall, only images were shown of that history with no context given, so they might as well be their own series of past events that have nothing to do with any connection the audience migh...

Re: How is "Black History" defined?

Because it is different from what you are thinking. This is how the timeline works They are not one, but multiple timelines that got absorbed into a single shell, the Correct Century, not one long history. You have multiple parallel worlds, but all hit the dead end of CC, then they all merged to fo...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Cagali and Kudelia's mission are something not within their function. I suppose that would depend on what Kudelia's function is. I'm not actually sure what that is at the moment. Just curious, what you though to be my reply? Is it something along the line of "talk big but actually powerless"? No, I...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

A rebellious princess who get out of her comfort home to does what she believe in, even if it's soon clear enough that she doesn't know as much as she think. Technically, both Relena and Marina also left the comfort of their own home to do things according to their beliefs. In fact, that can also a...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Considering the production crew were on board for 00, it's not unreasonable I think for some people to expect they'd do similar things with her as Marina Ismael. And we have had characters in Kudelia's situation, if not immediately or of their own will, like Relena. She very easily could still fall...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I've been seeing a lot of "Been there, seen this before." reactions. Fair, especially with Kudelia. I just wish we'd not have it so early on. I actually would expect such reactions this early. Those are typical first impression reactions. Ideally, as the series develops and grows into its own ident...

Re: pilots talking with each other including their enemies?

So, episode 2 of Iron-Blooded Orphans is the latest instance of this phenomenon. If I'm not mistaken, it seems in this case that they simply broadcast it out so anyone can hear, even those not inside a mobile unit. At least, that's what it sounds like in some parts.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Apparently Hulu gave this show (or at least this first episode) a TV-MA rating. Interesting. I also liked that scene. I may be pointing out the obvious, but it seemed to foreshadow for the audience that Bernstein is going to have to "get her hands dirty" if she truly intends to make a real differenc...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

While he did it more humanely, he did a Heero Yuy-style rejection of an Episode 1 offering from a princess girl when he wouldn't shake Bernstein's hand. I thought it was great was when he commented on the reason Kudelia gave as to why she wanted to shake hands, but I don't think his refusal was a r...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

If anything, I'd very vehemently argue, and I know I'm not alone, that Reconguista was very much not meant for 25 episodes and acts as a good showcase for what happens to a series with a lot of material without enough time to fulfill. Are you saying that Reconguista was cut short? Because otherwise...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Maybe Sunrise has found the sweet spot for Gundam with Build Fighters and Reconguista and is merely continuing that trend. There's nothing wrong with that. Plenty of shows have only 25/26, or even 12/13, episode counts.

Actually, I thought it would've happened sooner, around the time when that guy (who ended up dying later on anyway) first needed help.

-Brewers It's almost impossible, but I really wish they're what I think... Nobody dare to mess with them, because they're source of booze. Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I would argue that Gundam has never and will never genuinely have an anti-war message because as an action series it simultaneously glorifies the war and weapons that characters preach against. A true anti-war story wouldn't focus on the combat in that way. But if you stick with "war is a necessary...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

If Gundam were anti-war, no one would ever fight at all. An anti-war sentiment does not need to be portrayed by a strict non-violence approach. It is simply enough to portray war as being an undesirable situation even if, on occasions, fighting in a war is considered necessary to prevent an even wo...

As in chronologically? As in the events in RC happened sometime after the events in CC? If so, this concept now makes even less sense.

Was that interview confirmed or just a rumor?
