Re: Sunrise in talks for more license rescues!
Dear god no! Do not let Funimation near Gundam! I can't stand them. Their voice actors all suck, their marketing is horrible, and don't get me started on their dvd release rate. The only thing I respect them for was how they handled FMP TSR after ADV went under, but that's it. We would be entering ...

Re: Gundam X up for voting! (for official streaming release)
Inevitably, I went and voted for Gundam X the moment I saw MAHQ mention it on Twitter, then passed the word along to my friends on Tumblr, and they're passing it along to other people too. I was just at Anime Central this weekend, and the guys running the Gundam panels there also helped spread the w...

Re: ANN's Gundam Poll
Frankly, I'm surprised that 20 other people besides me voted for Gundam X as their favorite, and that it also (barely) beat out 0083. At least it outdid Destiny, for which I'm grateful. I'm also surprised at how well Turn-A fared, especially for a series that just was a hairsbreadth from a domestic ...

Re: What if MSG and Seed had been successes in America?
I agree with the others in that I don't think it would've saved Bandai or helped the anime industry in the US in the long run. Gundam alone can't fix a lousy economy. However, it's possible that Gundam as a franchise may have held on a bit longer, perhaps a few more years or so, and we might've seen...

Re: Release Fate of X, Turn-A, V, and ZZ--no Plan B?
It's a step in the right direction, that's for sure, but I'm going to stay in "wait and see" mode. Will this include all the Gundam series, even the ones we haven't legitimately seen in the West, or will it just be the stuff that's already been released here? It's simply too vague to tell yet, so I'...

Re: The Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Tokusatsu thread
^ Jetman is a great series all around. I watched it myself back in the fall, and I wasn't disappointed. For PR...I'm not entirely sure what to think of Megaforce yet. It started out well, and there's an interesting plot in there somewhere (especially with the foreshadowing of the Legend War), but mo...

Re: Release Fate of X, Turn-A, V, and ZZ--no Plan B?
They need to refocus their efforts to a smaller niche, and we need to make a coordinated effort to express our interest. If that means no new series getting airtime, that's fine. But having series streamed here would be nice. Having importable discs with English subtitles would be nice. Anything th...

Re: Release Fate of X, Turn-A, V, and ZZ--no Plan B?
I hate to sound like a pessimist, but I really don't think we're ever likely to see any of those released in the West. Sure, Gundam still has a small but loyal English-speaking fanbase (and anyone who knows me knows that I would kill for even a sub-only R1 GX DVD set), but there are various factors ...

Okay, well, he's a bit annoying. But I survived Gai in Gokaiger just fine, and he's kinda like Gai Light.

Re: The Official Kamen Rider Thread
^ Actually, Saban wasn't responsible for Kamen Rider Dragon Knight; a group by the name of Adness was. At the time it aired, Saban hadn't gotten back into the business of making kids' shows yet. (And here's an odd thing: Dragon Knight did really poorly here in the States, but the Japanese-dubbed ver...

Re: What books are you reading?
I'm attempting to read The Hobbit for the first time ever right now, in preparation to see the movie(s). It's been a bit slow-going, though, but I'm now about halfway through. Which is a lot more than I can say about my various attempts to read The Lord of the Rings , which always ended after about ...

Re: Christmas 2012 thread (post your haul in HERE!)
Didn't really get anything interesting from my mom, because she always gives me boring stuff (though the gift certificate to a local yarn shop will definitely be put to good use, as I love to knit). But at least my fiancé gets me cool stuff! -Gundam Unicorn episodes 1 and 2 on Blu-ray -MG Banshee ki...

Re: SD Gundam Capsule Fighter
Started playing SDGO a week ago, have been pondering quitting for a few days now because the gameplay, interface, and generally unpleasant people (not to mention the lack of friends to do stuff with) are leaving me extremely frustrated. But the addition of the GX Divider, my most favorite Gundam eve...

Re: the dubbing discussion thread
Like with the others here, it really depends on the series, and sometimes how I see it first. There are some series--such as Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Eureka Seven, Ghost in the Shell: SAC, etc.--with really stellar dubs that I just can't get myself to watch it in the original Japanese, or that's how I ...

Yeah, I'm at the point where I just look at that tweet and laugh because I don't believe a word of it right now, and I fully expect it to be a massive disappointment. It feels very "boy who cried wolf" to me.

Re: Vision of Escaflowne...
And when they aired it here in the States in about 2000-01 or so, it was butchered like nobody's business (largely to make Van look like the main character instead of Hitomi, but also to remove a lot of the violence...which doesn't exactly leave a lot to work with), and they took out nearly all of t...

Re: GundamOfficial.com dead?
I'm guessing it shut down because of Bandai Entertainment closing its doors here in the US/the West. Kind of ridiculous that they couldn't just give it to their parent company in Japan to use for something, but then again, Gundam.info already has an English-language version, so they probably thought...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread AGE-9
Hmmm, actually I'm glad they went with the designs they did. These prototypes, except for Arisa don't tickle my Spider-Sense. Yeah, same here (though the Zeheart design isn't that bad either). It already gets enough complaints right now for being too cartoony. I think those designs would've turned ...

Re: Female Char Clone
I'm of two minds on this. On one hand, it would be interesting to see what they could do with it. We've already had some interesting female villains in Gundam that weren't Char clones, so what could they do with one that would fall into this particular trope? On the other hand...I fear that despite ...
