Re: What is the final word on Cosmic Era beam technology?

The amount of gamma ray photons released by annhilating with air is not enough to destroy the Minerva, and the instant after the shot is made all the air in the vicinity is gone. Again, if you watch the animation closely, you can see this happening. The small explosions happen, and then they are go...

Re: What is the final word on Cosmic Era beam technology?

No, I do not agree. The explosion was caused by the Tannhauser beam hitting the seawater. Yes, I agree with you and the evidence. However, from the point of view of the drama , it was clearly supposed to create the (false) idea that Freedom was destroyed by the explosion. The thing is that, if the ...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Mecha Thread Mk I

In the anime, we don't see the GMs with those sub-arms or backpacks either. Most likely they only got the external equipment retrofits and not an entire change to their cockpit. The backpacks and additional thrusters in the chassis are there . They're missing the shield subarm and the twin beam rif...

Except they don't have the same backpacks or extra sub-arms - else they'd have been carrying the extra shields and different beam guns too. Except they DO have the same backpacks, the extra thrusters and sub-arms, shields and different beam guns too. ( side view ) ( back view 1 ) ( back view 2 ). W...

Re: What is the final word on Cosmic Era beam technology?

*Cough* Railgun was around in UC since M-MSV and F90 . I'm pretty sure 1990 isn't "recent" in this context. Thanks, Kuruni. I knew there was a railgun of sorts in one of the MSV models. So, yeah, railguns have appeared in UC for decades now, at least in MSV and manga. You'd think if they could make...

Re: What is the final word on Cosmic Era beam technology?

Honestly. Something that I like about SEED over UC is the abundance of different weapon types. In UC it was various stripes of machine guns, many variances of beam weapons, oh they could get creative with them but still beam weapons, and Missiles. With some rare Laser Weapons. Some things to consid...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Mecha Thread Mk I

That's a GunCannon, not a GM Cannon. GunCannons and GunTanks have Coreblock systems. The reinforcements included both GunCannons and GM Cannons. I was referring to the GM Cannons. It seems you're right. Those are GM Cannons in the back, all right. I'm not sure where you got reference that non-Mua b...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Mecha Thread Mk I

So apparently we'll have a manga showcasing in Gundam Ace next month called GUNDAM THE ORIGIN MSD The Island of Cucuruz Doan. What. The. Bloody. Hell. From the looks of it , it will explore Doan's past as a Zeon pilot. It's kinda weird to connect him to The Origin, since he wasn't featured at all i...

Re: The Gundam face.

Well, even that doesn't necessarily rule out the idea of a samurai-inspired faceplate; The Origin manga shows General Revil making reference to Japanese culture - I think he specifically refers to bushido at one point during a meeting. Pretty sure it's in volume VI or VII during Char & Garma's acad...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Mecha Thread Mk I

And it was not all that impressive as it stats say it is with all those missile launchers. It is basically an UC verison of the CE Drake Class Escort. Remember that Minovsky technology made guided missiles useless. The Lepantos are probably relics of the pre-Minovsky era of space combat doctrine. A...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Mecha Thread Mk I

Note that the replacement GM Cannons haven't shown any evidence of also being equipped with core block systems - they also lack the addition of manipulator arms. The manga clearly depicts one with a escape system , the same one used by GMs earlier on (see below). Also, those are full-blown RX-77 Gu...

Re: What is the final word on Cosmic Era beam technology?

The main problem I see with CE's Beam weaponry is the inconsistencies of it's depiction. This is especially egregious in SEED Destiny, where positron cannons and rail cannons are depicted as regular beam weapons. And other times they're portrayed as they approx. should be. And this becomes especial...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Mecha Thread Mk I

The events in The Origin (and MSD) change Mark's development timeline quite a lot. For starters, the initial deployment date of the Zaku II High Mobility Type gets moved way back, from June to January. It would also mean that it never was a competitor against the Dom, but a complement for the standa...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

On closer inspection, the YMS-08B and the Zaku RD-4 are the exact same chassis . Differences include: - Livery - Dom head (with pipes) - Dom shoulders - Smaller feet (??), with narrower tips - Smaller knee armor - Heat rod in the back This is good news because it might mean that the Zaku RD-4 could...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

Well, now we've seen the MSD version of the Zaku RD-4. Heh, that's news for me. News that creates more headaches , since YMS-08A and YMS-08B couldn't be more different: - A is the " High Mobility Test Type ", a testbed that (going by the -08 code) eventually became the Efreet. No relationship at al...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

I do like the anime depiction of the MS-03 - with its split skirt and bell-bottom legs, it seems like the common ancestor of the Dom and Zaku lines. Yep, I thought the exact same thing. Back when the silhouette was revealed, I was convinced that it was going to be an MSD version of the Zaku RD-4 (A...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

What's interesting is that it seems like we will get an anime original fight featuring a prototype Zeon mobile suit taking on three Feddie ships. Unless i'm mistaken there were no battles involving capital ships in the "flashback" volumes until the Battle of Loum. You are (and aren't) mistaken. It'...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I

I think I might the only person on the Internet who caught this background detail on the latest episode. A friend was telling me to contact Sunrise, in case there was an award for nerdery or something.
