Personally, I saw that as a pacing problem, and not really a problem with the combat.

On the subject of the ZZ itself, I wish we could see the Gump animated. Grey Stokes(Judau) is awesome.

EDIT: Just realized how ironic this is. AGE-1 looks somewhat like the RX-78-2, AGE-2 somewhat like the Zeta, and AGE-3 somewhat like the ZZ. Lol.
