Re: Arpeggio of Blue Steel

hitokirigarou: The manga has acknowledged American-origin Fog ships, but it has not used any as in-story characters yet. Give them time, though.... The Hawaii picket fleet features 4 types of battleship, 2 fast & two old, and the mighty i]Lexington[/i]-class aircraft carriers. (Apparently Hawaii is...

Re: Arpeggio of Blue Steel

Does anybody else appreciate Takao's current role? :) The progress of the Mental Models towards understanding & acting like humans has been much acceleraed compared to the manga, but I don't mind a bit. They are all coming along to some extent. You know what, I wanted to give any of the Fog mental ...

I wonder why the Iowa and Delaware classes are used since the Fog seem to be composed of warships that were sunk/destroyed/lost in WWII.
The production thought we won't complain about it.

Oh yes, the throwing bombs and hand grenades also debuted in Dragonar then re-appeared in Destiny. Though I don't know if combining two BSs into one double edged sword counts.

Re: Dragonar influence in Gundam SEED?

Please excuse me for necronizing this thread to list the specific similarities: The Aile striker is basically a Metal Armor Fixed Flying Unit, only Dragonar and SEED featured winged backpacks for mechas(Super Gundam does not count). Jet Strikers in Destiny are even more similar since they have detac...

And? That doesn't mean we're not allowed to complain about how wrong and stupid it is. Never saw Guilty Crown, for which I will be eternally grateful. Only recently, bearing with whatever is wrong in a mediocre show become a premise to watch it. Either we are grabbing our ankles or we just E...

Re: Titans Formal Uniform Markings

However.... "准佐", the last marking of chart, baffles me. I don't recall anyone wearing it in the series (unless the guys with the purple capes who hang around Jamitov did) and when I attempt to translate the name I get something like Assistant Officer... which obviously makes no sense. Does anyone ...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

She really had no other choice given the situation. Even if they did successfully escape, where would they go? They'd have the whole world hunting them down. Before she might have believed that Haruto would have found a way to make things better, but her trust in him has been shattered. If there wa...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

teslashark: The poor dear kids gave it away with their honest shocked reactions. Also, the scene was shot so that there was no doubt that it could not be faked. And Saki's own reaction was very convincing in its sincerity! Come on, how long had special effects been fooling people over screens? Mode...

The Buff Clan in Ideon might got their name from a distorted translation of the Golden Horde/Clan of historical Mongolian empire. Though, it is actually spelled "Vaffcolan" in the show, on a photograph...

Re: Buddy Complex - New Sunrise Mecha Show

I really must wonder what the naming department was thinking when they came up with "Buddy Complex." It sounds like a comedy. Still, Japanese using English for names isn't always perfect so I can understand if it wasn't something done intentionally. It might have plot relevance, or it might just be...

Re: Stuff You Can't Believe You Just Figured Out

They do things like that in Eva; in Anima, NERV Japan has a new fighter, the Platypus II, which is explicitly labeled a modification of the Sukhoi Su-27 "Flanker", which they bought in large numbers from old Russia. On top of that, the JSSDF takes the VTOL craft you mentioned and combines them with...

The common-as-Zaku VTOL crafts in Evangelion, YAGR-3B, is actually Russian or Soviet made. YAGR is a combinition of 3 Russian designer's surname initials: Я,Г and Р. UN/Nerv had half of their arsonal filled with Russian or fictional Russian weapons.

Re: The Gundam SEED DESTINY Remaster Thread Mk II

The thing I love about Destiny as I overview it is how it tried to present a world/story where there are no good guys or bad guys, in a better written show, it would show the complexity of 2/3 sides at war, all with valid ideals and reasons to fight. I wanna believe that's the kind of story that wa...

Whoa. Did Cain just air literal Saki torture porn on worldwide TV? ... That's kinda hot. The only question NOW is... what kind of ACTUAL porn will the Japanese be able to derive from this scene?! I eagerly anticipate the results! :) Look for Maizono Sayaka porn, who is basically Saki before getting...

Yamato 2199 as mentioned above.
Metal Armor Dragonar, essentially Gundam 0079/SEED set in a closer-to reality time and without Newtypes/Co-ordinators.

Still preferring the manga:
1 We need Yamato/Kotono!
2 Haruna can actually fight even when taking care of a designer-child and a teddy.
3 Beluga(Hyakugei) III... Well, now it's a piece of towel.
