Re: Ep. 078 - Fire and Gundamnation!
Fab episode you guys! Thanks for indulging all my questions :) I found it a bit odd you didn't go into much detail on Colony Drop. Damn! Here I was hoping to spark some big debate or somesuch. Also: Loved the discussion on Gundam Sousei, which I'd deeply enjoyed and had never made the Transmet conne...

Re: The Official Gundam AGE Anime Thread Mk 1
Wow. All the memories of the first reactions to 00 are coming back. THE PAIN! GAAAAAHh-- okay. So, time for some home truths. I love Gundam. Okay, I love it. It's not all perfect. I prefer some shows over others, some games over others, etcetera etcetera. In the end, however, Gundam is a few things:...

Re: Tomino, family counselor
Think about it, everyone has a person who annoys them just by the sound of their voice. Now with technology you add a face to that. What's this thing I keep hearing that Tomino, since the 90s, is now Happy!Tomino? He still sounds like the grumpy old guy of fan myth to me. And that is awesome. There...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk III
Honestly, I don't think Unicorn's story is inconsequential. Think about it in terms of 0083. Whatever issues that OAV has, from the outset of the story we know a few things about how relevant it will be. However, that OAV covers the gap between 0079 and Zeta and does so while introducing many of Zet...

Re: Ecole Du Ciel
Well, for many it's easier to learn Italian, Spanish, German or French, and many Gundam mangas are released in those languages (case in point, Gundam the Origin is pretty popular in Spain and has been released up to volume 19, which is roughly after the Texas Colony incident from the TV series).

Re: Gundamn! Mailbag Drop Box
I have a few questions you guys: 1) Has the Gundamn crew ever heard of Gundam 0079: War for Earth? For those who don't know, it's a 1990s PC/PS1 game that is basically an interactive movie with lots of bad CG, which was the style at the time (think Wing Commander except bad). Anyway, there's been up...

But Mark, if we have no Official Canon and we have to think for ourselves, we may have to make decisions for ourselves! That may tax our puny fanbrains!
That way lies murder. That way, my friend, lies fanon.

Re: Ep. 075 - The Diamond Standard
Great job on the episode guys, as usual :) I also enjoyed Gunpla Builders, and much like Neo I crave a Senjou No Kizuna arcade machine that scans custom model kits! When you think about it, it shouldn't be that far off from current tech: start off by programming every HG/MG into it as a 'straight bu...

Re: The Legend of the Galactic Heroes Thread
Dear True Believers of LOGH, have you all been checking out the DVD remasters? I always felt LoGH looked terrific, and the animation and look of the show only gets better as the seasons go on. However, the DVD version remastered a lot of scenes, produced new animation to replace many instances of cr...

Papua Don't Preach I just wanted to say, Mark, that I *love* your thread titles! When I see a clever little pun with the name of something from the Gundamverse, I just know it's going to be one of your awesome in-depth analysis of the minutiae of Gundam :) (I've got nothing to add except, hey, good...

Re: What do you want to see in the next Gundam series?
Okay! So let's add some non-Tomino characters: -Karen Joshua: tough lady who takes no bull from nobody -Christine Mackenzie: A terribly underdeveloped character who was, however, not stereotypical and was quite endearing. -Sumeragi Lee Noriega: Admittedly she was used a LOT for fanservice, but don't...

Re: What do you want to see in the next Gundam series?
I'm not really sure what difference a female lead would really make, to be honest. I mean, it's not like Gundam is going to go plumbing the murky depths of gender roles for subtle and nuanced commentary on femininity in the traditionally masculine time of war. Considering anime today, a female prot...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk III
Just got around to watching episode 3! Overall I enjoyed it, of course, although it felt a bit too action-oriented. I'm glad we got to know more about Marida's backstory in all it's tragedy, BUT dear lord I hate the 'my tragic past is I was prostituted and sexually abused' trope. It's not the only Z...

Re: The Power Rangers/Super Sentai/Tokusatsu thread
Like many kids my generation in South America, I started watching Sentai before Power Rangers existed. Back then, Brazilian TV stations started airing dubbed versions of plenty of Tokusatsu. To this day, three endure the most in the popular imagination: Juspion (a post-space-sheriff Metal Hero), Den...

Gundam Type 0 beat me to it! Talking about Saint Seiya would be fab. I know I'd like to listen to it (hell, if it was a listener call-in, I'd call in, since Saint Seiya was a massive pop culture event in much of South America). EDIT: Chris, do you own any of the Myth Cloth figures? If so, what's you...

Great show again you guys :) Quite enjoyed the candyland wishes topic and the Macross F discussion (despite not having seen the show yet). Re: Upcoming Models, Merch, & Rumors X
Erm, am I the only one that 'doesn't get it'? So far, we got the Ver Ka of the Wing and Deathscythe (which, as we know, are similar to the EW versions of Wing Zero and D-Hell). The new D-Hell kit is the Endless Waltz version, grand, yeah. But I don't get why the Ver.Ka Shenlong is being marketed as ...

And is that crusier called Mon Calamari, as in "I'll start with the calamari", what the hell?! Yeah, cos it belongs to admiral Ackbar's race, the Mon Calamari.
