Magazine scans with the Banpresto original mech and characters, and some other stuff.

A lot of shows do that this time of year. At least 4 of my favorite shows spread across several stations keep doing short sporadic hiatus-es in January.

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

grump, moan, whinge Why do you feel the need to be so bloody negative all the time? We're getting a new Z game! It looks good! Mecha series we all enjoy are once again getting together for a grand old hootenanny! You're determined to accentuate what you perceive as negative points, while ignoring t...

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

I don't see how it's business, or at least good business; people don't pay more for the same thing. The only way the PS3 sales are good is if lots of Z-series fans have a PS3 and not a PSV. And don't count on the combat animations being better. If they didn't bother to make the maps better for the c...

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

Well, either way I think that the fact is that for a relatively minor part of the visual design, not going 3D with the maps isn't going to hurt the sales I don't see how the maps are in any way a "minor" part of the visual design.....would you get a game that uses bad/cheap work in the graphics? Th...

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

It's not a problem of ease of play, it's a problem of them cheap-ing out on us and giving us under-par work on a game for a console that is designed and expected to be the highest quality and performance of its generation. Just look at 2nd OG. They went to the trouble of revamping a ton of things, l...

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

Some more Famitsu scans have come up. Well that's disturbing..... That map layout is the directly-above 2D layout that they use in the handheld SRWs to save on memory and data space with the handhelds' more limited capacity, as opposed to the 3D multi-angle map layout used in every console SRW game...

Spoiler
Show
I'm not sure if either Peterson or I would have preferred he lived given his new predicament.

As if being terribly scarred, disfigured, and missing a leg wasn't enough to ruin his day, he's been implanted with a new centipede and an eye camera bomb.

WORST. SURVIVAL. EVER. :(

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

Maybe I should have said combat animations instead of speaking of graphics in general. The battle animations are the same as the ones in Z2; not bad but cheaper/"dinkier" than even in Z1. They're less dynamic than the combat animations in OG 2nd and even the original Z1. It was understandable that t...

Re: SRW Z3 - Jigoku-Hen

Yeah, the trailer is clearly using the same one they used for Z2, as in a less-powerful system designed for lower-power handhelds. Considering this is going to be on the PS3 (and even the VITA has HD-level power), they'd better not be sticking with that system we see in the trailer. Or there will be...

Re: Buddy Complex - New Sunrise Mecha Show

That's just a surface similarity. In each case the dynamic has been different and influenced events in different ways. Not that differently. And the whole buddy system pattern that Sunrise has been on for such a while is deeper than just a surface thing. It's like Sunrise thinks their MCs can't wor...

Re: Buddy Complex - New Sunrise Mecha Show

I'm talking about the theme, not some exact, specific instance. Kira+Athrun, Lelouch+Suzaku, Haruto+L-Elf. It would be nice if they could get out of that rut a bit more.

Re: Buddy Complex - New Sunrise Mecha Show

Sunrise really seems to love the bro/buddy thing just a tad too much. Gundam SEED, Code Geass, Valvrave, and now this. From the opening they're clearly going to bring up a relationship between the hero and the main girl (I don't have their names memorized yet), but the question is if they're going t...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

Haruto had far less choice in his fate than Lelouch. Lelouch had always planned on taking on Britannia, getting caught up in the attack on the Shinjuku ghetto merely sped up his plans and gave him an extra ace. Haruto was merely swept up in events beyond his control and was stuck before he even knew...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

Well, Haruto did say that he was resolved to end his life with the Valvrave so no one else could become cursed like him. Guess he made good on that promise. So his death is not meaningless in that regard, he's been saying it quite a bit throughout the series. Nobody said his death was meaningless, ...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

@Shinji103: I compare it to Gundam X not due to what happens to the characters, but because both had rushed finales that still managed to fit in a decent final battle plus an epilogue to show what happened to most of the characters. Gundam X's ending was still far superior even without Haruto's ter...

Re: Valvrave the Liberator thread Mk II

I'd say I'm leaning more towards "bad" on this ending. While the action was nice, it does leave a lot of unexplained things as already pointed out in previous posts. Even worse, there's absolutely no real resolution on the love triangle. Haruto said he still loves SHouko back a few episodes ago, but...

Xenosynth wrote:Well, that's the thing. Z2 Amuro has the Nu throughout. So I wonder why he'd go back to the Re-GZ at all in Z3.
Like I said, it might just be an homage in the trailer to how he piloted the Re-GZ in CCA. As in maybe they put him in the Re-GZ just for the trailer.

Re: Upcoming SRW Announcement

Also, given the different dynamics and whatnot, like Amuro using the Re-GZ, I have to wonder how CCA will work, and if this is going to be the same Amuro and Char. Or if the Geara Dogas and dropping Axis are going to be orchestrated by the Mariemaia Faction. Amuro was using the the Re-GZ at the beg...

Re: Upcoming SRW Announcement

Also some people are speculating with Z3, perhaps some series that are missing will return for Z3 part 2. I was speculating the exact same thing, though it would be nice to see some of the more useless series-es with no plot significance get dropped instead of keeping the roster clumped up like the...
