Even if Super Sentai and Power Rangers are NOT mecha series, just superhero shows with some mecha elements
...They'd still use combining super robots as among their elements, and these combining super robots are still inspired not only by Leopardon from tokusatsu Spider-Man from 1978, but also Getter Robo, Combattler V, and Voltes V, in their own ways, as well. Which means that, as combining super robots...

Favorite balanced, melee, ranged, heavy, and light units
In my case, it's the following: * Balanced: The RX-78-2 Gundam, though with some bits of lightweight sniper elements. * Melee: Dann of Thursday, GUN X SWORD. * Ranged: Scopedog, Armored Trooper VOTOMS; ARX-7 Arbalest, Full Metal Panic. * Heavy: Ideon, Space Runaway Ideon. * Light: Nirvash TypeZERO.

Re: Why are Voltron and Power Rangers more mainstream and popular in the West than Gundam and Evangelion?
I noticed how Gundam and Evangelion are incredibly niche and unknown to most Western audiences except for the most hardcore otaku. lolwut. That might've been true about twenty years ago... but both Gundam and Evangelion have been fairly well-known mainstream anime properties in the west ever since ...

Why are Voltron and Power Rangers more mainstream and popular in the West than Gundam and Evangelion?
I noticed how Gundam and Evangelion are incredibly niche and unknown to most Western audiences except for the most hardcore otaku. But Power Rangers with the Megazord and Voltron are much more popular, mainstream, and widespread all across the West. So why is that? Why are Voltron and Power Rangers ...

Re: The lack of combining mecha on the MAHQ website
Exactly my point, outside of just the ZZ Gundam alone.Seto Kaiba wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 11:24 amI think he(?) was asking if "combining" real robots had sufficient technical information to be covered on MAHQ...

Re: The lack of combining mecha on the MAHQ website
All of the above reasons listed sum up why super robots aren't covered on MAHQ. I like watching super robot anime just fine, but technical information is hard to come by. Also, I don't care for tokusatsu shows, so that's that. And what about real robots that are combining mecha themselves, like the...

Re: The lack of combining mecha on the MAHQ website
The funny thing is that he pick Megazord. While several Super Sentai series have quite interesting info regarding the mech, most of it is stripped away when adapted to Power Ranger. Again, if there's anything you want to discuss, you ebtter start it yourself. Our policy is no politic or religion, n...

Re: The lack of combining mecha on the MAHQ website
I just checked your profile, and it turns out that you're the creator of MAHQ, or at least a moderator.
And also, you're not that interested in combining mecha at all, right? If so, why, outside of just discussing what you feel like discussing?

The lack of combining mecha on the MAHQ website
A lot of mecha that I look up on MAHQ tend to be non-combining real robots, but almost no combining super robots like Voltron or the Megazord. So why isn't that website discussing famous combining mecha like Getter Robo, Combattler V and Voltes V, all the way up to Voltron and the Megazord?

Re: Something I noticed in Space Runaway Ideon
But rarely, if ever, do I see or hear anyone talk about Ideon as a combining mecha, or about Ideon's three individual component vehicles and their capabilities when uncombined. ...I suggest that you do some research on old Super Sentai shows, you would realize that it's normal. Nobody talks about h...

Something I noticed in Space Runaway Ideon
Usually, whenever I see people talk about Space Runaway Ideon, they'd talk about one of two things, including: 1. The themes, narrative, and character development that served as the inspiration for Neon Genesis Evangelion. 2. Ideon's godlike power. But rarely, if ever, do I see or hear anyone talk a...

Re: Why doesn't Super Robot Wars have traditional character classes?
Probably because most of the non-original mecha in the games would be difficult to pigeonhole into a specific class due to having diverse capabilities. That level of specialization is fairly uncommon in shows where there are teams of mecha. Uncommon? Yes. Mecha titles that focus on a small unit rat...

Re: Why doesn't Super Robot Wars have traditional character classes?
Why aren't mecha in Super Robot Wars divided into character classes, except for frame sizes and melee/ranged attacks? Probably because most of the non-original mecha in the games would be difficult to pigeonhole into a specific class due to having diverse capabilities. That level of specialization ...

Why doesn't Super Robot Wars have traditional character classes?
And I don't mean, like, Super Robots and Real Robots, because they're genres of mecha anime, not mecha archetypes. I mean, like, if there is a team of non-combining real robots, e.g. the R-series units when separated or the ATX Team's Alt Eisen and Weiss Ritter, they're divided into character classe...

Know any non-combining mecha teams?
I know the ASHMB from Majestic Prince. They have no ability to combine with each other, yet work fine as a specialized unit. Same deal as the Plantation 13 FRANXX units, to the point that I wrote two Five-Man Band lists describing the FRANXX units and their pilots, which you can see here . And, I pl...

Xenogears and Xenosaga combining mecha question
How come the combining mecha in Xenogears and the Xenosaga trilogy were used for either AI-controlled bosses or summon spells, but not full-on playable mecha like the omnigears and the four E.S. units? And say that the two different game series did. Would you want to full-on pilot a combining mecha ...

What Super Robot Wars' SRX unit makes me think of
You know how Grungust and Huckebein from Super Robot Wars represent super and real robots, respectively, due to the former being an oversized powerhouse that shows casual disregard to the laws of physics, and the latter being smaller, more delicate, and more grounded in reality? To me, if the Grungu...

Non-Combining Mecha Teams
Because I have a better idea of what combining mecha are like, that I should also have an idea of what non-combining mecha teams are like, as well. Essentially, to compensate for their inability to combine with each other, mecha teams instead: Specialize in different combat roles, e.g. melee and ran...
