Re: UC: Beam Weapon Projectile Speed

OverSavior, I'm curious.. what makes you think that they're heavy particles? Also, there is no simple single answer to how fast beam weapons over all are. Many weapons have different velocities to their shot. I would not trust Origin or IGLOO, though. Their animation is highly stylized for a particu...

The curious case of the RTX-44

I want to preface this with the fact that, as far as I can tell, Bandai wants the animated Origin episodes to fit as cleanly as possible in to the original series, while still staying as true to the Origin as possible. So, I am going to try to do the same. I believe it is possible to, with very litt...

The SE Project and its fate

So outside from some blurbs on the Gundam Wiki, I can't find much about the Tyrant Sword and the story around it. I'm not even sure where to find translations of the photo novel. What do we know about the SE Project? Is it still an official part of the UC story? Why was it abandoned if the new SE-Ge...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

I'm going to be honest, Myth, most depictions of the Zaku seem to depict it as being faster than that. I think, this is one of those cases where the numbers need to be rewritten.

I am pretty certain that we've even seen some of the ships do better than this, especially White Base.

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

I'm back! Life just kind of.. whisked me away, and since getting in to summer classes for programming, I've been even more busy. So, with Gundam Origin out we're getting to see a lot more of the OYW ships. There are some slight spoilers below so if you haven't watched it yet, here's your warning. On...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

Hey, I want to apologize. School has kept me busy.. but Spring Break has arrived! I often wondered how much extra propulsion the minovsky craft provides the White Base. It seems extremely agile and fast despite being so big compared to other EFF vessels. I guess the answer is "A lot!" I'll get aroun...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

As you can observe, the size of the thrusters is basically the same for both designs, which means that in this case we can indeed attribute the size difference of the thrusters to the artist, which means that the Magellan Kai didn't receive a speed upgrade as you suggest. This goes in line with the...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

I think we're wandering too far in to speculation territory. An increase in thrusters to me, when it comes to different artists, means that's just how they decide to draw it. This doesn't change the vehicles performance any. It may be that these are supposed to represent a number of fuel efficient t...

Re: Watching the UC series for the first time

Considering how often I hear that working on Turn A "cured" him? And some of the crazy stuff that shoots out of his mouth now? I almost would believe him having a split personality LOL. Some people are just emotional. Very emotional. Now, I've never met the guy. Can't really come to a conclusion one...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

I think I'm more likely to err on that side of what we see is what we get. I'm not particularly interested in trying to figure out UC ship abilities by comparing to SEED. It seems like apples and oranges to me. At the moment, while it seems extreme to me, I am content with the Salamis being able to ...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

I'm sorry, Myth, but I really have a hard time believing that it's sped up. It's easier to just assume no one is in either end of the ship, and that the crew is mostly located in towards the center. There's probably no one past the forward guns. I also don't think they can turn 180 degrees in less t...

Re: Watching the UC series for the first time

I thought I'd mention that I've heard before that Tomino considers himself pro-female. You could even say he's a feminist. But he was also in a dark place during the time that he made Zeta. I've heard he had two really dark swings in his life. During Zeta and during V, and that he struggled with dep...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

Wow. Nice. Now to figure out Solomon's distance from the moon. http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/mechanics/imgmech/lagpot2.gif http://www-spof.gsfc.nasa.gov/Education/Figures/wlagrl5.gif Solomon sits at L5, doesn't it? It's been some years since I took any math back in high school. I'm not ...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

Well, heck. Now I have to go watch MS IGLOO again to see if I can hunt the weaponless Salamis down. I'm pretty sure I saw something with no guns on it. I'll check out episode 3 once this cold clears up and my head isn't so stuffy. Looking back at it, the models and the show do match up pretty well. ...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

You're right. I don't know why I thought they lacked weapons. They obviously fired on the Oggo later on, too. I wonder what I was thinking of.. maybe the launched ships from Jaburo in the episode before? Oh well. As for the Salamis Kai from 0083, I do remember that they seemed like they were suppose...

Re: Shoulder Armor

I believe the idea is that this heavy slab of armor can be rotated by the mobile suit to block attacks. Sure you could cover all sides but that would massively limit the movement of the arm and what it could carry. You could give it its own mechanism to flip around like they do with some later model...

Re: Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

Hi, Mythsearcher. I actually did not know the escape velocity of the moon! Thank you for that information. If the Salamis was really able to cover that much ground that quickly, I imagine that she had to do a lot of course correction to stay with the moon. I'm not sure what that says about her abili...

Just how fast can that little Salamis go?

Hi, guys. First time posting here! I recently was watching MS IGLOO again, as I'd never finished the last episodes of either Apocalypse or The Gravity Front, when I noticed something. There's is an event where we can measure how fast a Salamis cruiser is going. I figured, this is the place to put th...
