Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Since Kawamori has the habit of reusing old designs, which designs from the Macross Design Works (https://e-hentai.org/g/964676/268dd04850/) that hasn't turned up in animation would you like to appear?

Re: Mecha Anime Demographics?

The thing about ZZ is that Tomino did not look closely after it for a large chunk of the show, since he was busy with Char's Counterattack. Furthermore, the tone changed between episodes because of how different as writers Yumiko Suzuki and Meigo Endo were. Speaking of demographic, has anyone notice...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Speaking of missiles, could the VF-25 equip and use only the shoulder missile pods from the Armored Pack without having the entire pack on them? Also, is it just me, or does the VF-25 and VF-31's armored packs look like they came straight out of a SMUP game? I have been playing a lot of Raiden and D...

Re: Gundam Age Original Plan?

Gundam AGE the game is a big shame, really. I feel like the combat and customization are much more fun than Level 5's other mecha series, Danball Senki. However, the game story is worse than what Danball Senki has, and so the anime adaptation suffered.

Gundam foils and the drive to heroism

find it interesting that despite the differences between their temperament, Jerid and Mashymre shared the same delusion that they were somehow greater than they were. We later saw the same thing with Gyunei, Riddhe and Zabine. This is probably a running theme in U.C. all things considered. If you th...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Yeah, you got that right about "abuse". I was talking about just delivering bombs in the middle of the enemy formations. Even when excluding reaction missiles and other exotic weapons, NUNS must have had plenty of destructive conventional munitions. Heck, just release as many Ghost Fighters among th...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Is there anything such as minimum fold jump distance? And how exactly long does it takes to transition in or out of a fold jump? I wonder if you can abuse fold jump in space combat? How hard is it to set up a fold jump-deny area? And what if someone try to sabotage a ship by placing wrong jump coord...

Re: What kind of education does a mecha engineer need?

Just curious, as fans do knowing more about engineers make you question more about engineering makes you ask more questions about mecha? I mean, coming from a non-engineering background, I feel going into the design of mobile suits, variable fighters, etc. are like a good mental exercise for those w...

Re: Hi-Zack and psychological warfare

Some of that but another fun fact is that it made their own pilots hate the MS they are using. Which isn't good for morale. That's logical, but the closest example I could think of is a line in the Advance of Zeta manga. I suppose that since they were the elites, those Titans who did not like the H...

Hi-Zack and psychological warfare

Do you guys think that the Titans wanted to insult Zeon Remnants with the Hi-Zack? The Zaku was one of the most iconic OYW MS, and served as a reminder of the might of the Principality. The Titans using Hi-Zack felt like it sent this message to Zeon Remnants: "You've got nothing, not even a symbol b...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Well, a helicopter wouldn't be much use in space... but we've seen that law enforcement and private organizations like news reporters use helicopters on occasion inside of habitat ships or on planetary surfaces. The military in the Macross-7 fleet seems to prefer using VTOL aircraft for most purpos...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

With 4th and 5th generation VF dominating the battlefield and infantry involves less and less with winning the war, would any military be bother with helicopters? I wonder how low and how slow a VF could hover to the point that it could replace the helicopters altogether? I've just listened to a pod...

These two tumblr blogs have some of the information you are looking for: https://mononoke-no-ko.tumblr.com/ and https://geassactivate.tumblr.com/. There is also a guy on the /m/ board of 4chan who seems to know a lot about these things cause he scanned the artbooks and manga. You can occasionally fi...

Re: What kind of education does a mecha engineer need?

What I had in mind, is more in line with modern CNCs, where you put in a chunk of metal(raw material) and it cuts out a part according to the blue print. Since the ships are so huge in most Gundam series, while carrying only a very small number of MS compared to modern Aircraft carriers, I'd imagin...

Re: What kind of education does a mecha engineer need?

Both Amuro and Kamille isn't doing everything by themselves, they have a large team of engineers to support them off screen(working in Anaheim Electronics) they basically just worked on the overall design concept instead of the details. Kamille basically just worked on the transformation method for...

What kind of education does a mecha engineer need?

I wonder what kind of discipline are taught to a mecha engineer in college if that thing ever exist? I even have no idea what my car mechanic has learnt before he could work on my car, or what kind of qualification you needs to be able to maintain a tank or jet fighter. It really put into perspectiv...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

If it's a TV anime, probably pretty low... they want the audience to be able to closely identify with the show's main character. The Variable Glaug will likely never appear in a Macross TV anime for much the same reason that Kawamori is reluctant to depict Zentradi ships being widely used by the Ne...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

What are the chance of a new Macross with a Zentrandi protagonist? Do we have any poll about this topic? I suppose it could be a good change of pace for the franchise; and beside, I really want to see the Variable Glaug in action. (That said, how good is Macross II's Mardook Variable Armor and other...

Axis Zeon, iconography, and popular support

Does anyone here feel like there is a marketing dimension to the design of Axis Zeon mobile suits? I mean, there are MS like the Zaku III, Dreissen, R-Jarja, Gazu-L and -R that directly recalls OYW units. On one hand, that is because these new MS evolved from their old predecessors, but it also give...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Do you guys think that Walkure will have to be shoehorned in the next Macross? They have just released a new single, and I have a feeling that they will stick around for another one or two years after the second Delta movie came out, which might mean that it is about time for a new series anyway.
