Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

I have been listening to a podcast about the recently-created US Space Force, in which they talked about the difference between the American GPS and Russian GLONASS, and how should modern automated weapons have their own backup systems (automated sextants and astronavigation systems) in place when t...

Re: The Official Gundam Hathaway Mecha Thread Mk I

Say, is there any official reason to why in early UC gundam (and MS in general) just keep on getting bigger? Is it to cram in more new technologies and bigger reactors?

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Kind of? Macross 7 and Macross Plus were in concurrent development, so it was always a bit of a foregone conclusion that autonomous unmanned fighters weren't going to displace VFs as the main fighter of the NUNS since in 2045 they were still obviously using the VF-11, VF-17, VF-19, and VF-22. That ...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Had Kawamori planned from the start for the Sharon Apple incident to be the explaination for why automated weapons hadn't replaced humans and Zentrandi, or was NUNS's phobia toward A.I. only appeared in later installment? I mean, the idea of artificial intelligence going rouge was old at that point,...

Re: How advanced should technology be to built spaceships as spacious as in fictions

Say, what kind of people would you want to be on a colonuization spaceship? Scientists and doctors are a given, but what other job/talent/attribute should you look for? Presumably that the ship could build robots to do away with most of the labour and manufacturing jobs? And, let's just say that the...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

I think they kinda went right from vinyl to compact disc thanks to Sony being a strong advocate of the new format. Sometimes Sony's enthusiasm for new media format came bite them in the ass. Rememver the NT cassettes? Anyway, how much of the galaxy has humanity in Macross managed to cover? And wasn...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Has there been any Macross OST album being released on cassettes? I have just read about the way Japanese anime music came to the States, and it seemed like except a few cassette releases, most albums were released on either vinyls or CDs.

Re: What kind of labour work could an 18m MS do?

RB-79's decommission date is sadly, unknown. They are not supposed to be in the frontlines even in 0083, as they were only deployed for setting up the Solar System II. I guess they still have their cannons as a self defense mechanism but weren't really for any offensive operations. For post war rec...

Could modern roads withstand the weight of MS?

Your average Zaku II is 56.2 tons in dry weight (its max gross weight is 74.5 tons, according to MAHQ). I wonder if the modern highway systems in Western countries could withstand it? The basic Abrams is around 60 tons without weapons and men, and it could run on highways just fine. But then tanks u...

Re: What kind of labour work could an 18m MS do?

I guess it is because they have MMS/JMS contests in UC? (I don't remember if it is JMS or MMS, Karmille is a player) Once you have a major sports, and most people watch that, other sports might not be able to pick up as quickly. Like soccer in the US or American football in other parts of the world...

Re: What kind of labour work could an 18m MS do?

Basically. I also don't see them being able to do anything too sophisticated. They do not have motion capture as a means of control and thus are limited to a set list of skills the computer can handle automatically, so heavy lifting, turning valves/handles(as MSG first ep. Zaku opening the hatch), ...

What kind of labour work could an 18m MS do?

There are a quite a few number of demilitarized MS used in civilian jobs. I wonder what kind of works can these 18 m machines could do, beside construction in space? Wouldn't their size and weight be kind of a big hindrance? And how hard would it be to train a civilian MS pilot? If I remember correc...

Some Future GPX questions.

I was bored and so decided to open a Future GPX Cyber Formula artbook. Accompanying the car models are a bunch of statistics which I am not sure whether the Japanese had got their English right like: - Fuel cell: Optical activity catalyst fuel cell - Wheel: Normal temperature superconductivity linea...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

How many war between NUNS and other alien races happened before VF-X? Did Latence just use the Zentrandi to say that there were propably other deathly races humanity should look out for? I guess they were anti-Zentrandi too? Also, the Vajra invasion must have had given their remnants ammunition to u...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

That is a shame. I always want a Macross spin-off centering on ground combat and the Destroid. It would feel like something from Battletech, or so I imagine.

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

Has the Super Defender from Macross the Ride appeared in animation? The same with other jet fighters in SDF Macross, like the Dragon II? Have they all been decomissioned after the Zentrandi war? Also, I know that there are few reasons to develop the Destroid any further, but do you think one day Sat...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

We have talked about Critical Path somewhere before when talked about General Galaxy, but what is the deal with it. Latence and Vindicare? Kaiba, you said that the events of the war in VF-X2 were orchestrated by Latence and Vindicare, right? How exactly did that happen? (And was it true that one of ...

Is the Perfect Gundam canon to UC?

The announcement of the Perfect Gundam II Robot Damashii got me asking this: Is the Perfect Gundam cannon to UC? The Wikia said that the Perfect Gundam only existed as data, but I need some confirmed sources about this. And frankly, how different would the Perfect Gundam be in that case when compare...

Re: How exactly do internal Phase Shift armor work?

The way I've seen it described, the phase shift armor was only applied to the frame at the joints as a way to improve overall mobility without sacrificing defensive capability. I don't remember SEED MS have joints that are that exposed... How could Phase Shift improve their mobility? Also, didn't t...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

An interesting article on an unfinished Kawamori and Mikimoto's movie: http://www.zimmerit.moe/maimu-shoji-kawamori-haruhiko-mikimoto/ Kawamori's fascination to bicycles reminds me of Itano and how he developed the Macross Missile Massacre--tying a bunch of fireworks to the back of his bike and then...
