Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

It would be cool for GaliGali to show up in Ep. 49 to save the day in some previously unseen Gundam frame ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Hmmm ... somewhat satisfying? Glad to see so many familiar faces, but combined with the ending of Ein/Mika's battle, it makes Ep. 24 seem a lot less dramatic.

Personally looking forward to some new Gundam frames in season 2.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Wow, even having read all these posts before watching Ep. 24, it was still a gut punch to see Ein rip through so many (nameless but still recognizable) characters. I think McGillis, based on his past experience with Mika, expected Ein and Mika to fight one way or another (in or out of the city) and ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Am I the only one who saw Mecha Ein and immediately thought of Thunderbolt?

Probably not ... either way, this ep. continues with this series focus on the bloody aftermath of crushed cockpits. It's certainly a gruesome but realistic portrayal of mobile suit combat in the absence of energy weapons.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Another interesting point ... Mika's reaction to Biscuit/Orga genuinely seemed like an emotional response to me. This in spite of his facial expression being largely unchanged. Maybe it's just me projecting, but something about his words to Carta seemed like he was finally expressing a genuine emoti...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

The use of that old closing theme really packed an emotional punch this time. Also, before reading this thread, I'd never heard 'death flag.' But every time Orga said 'Let's discuss after we leave the island' made it pretty clear how things would turn out. Curious to see if there will be repercussio...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

*SPOILERS BELOW* I must be missing something re: this Oceania guy. He is exiled and out of power - why go through the trouble of getting Kudelia/Tekkadan all the way to earth simply to escort him to an election? This would have presumed that everything would go as well as it did re: the Dort colonie...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I

After Ep. 2, I'm really liking this series. Not sure how it comes across in the manga, but in the anime Io is almost a reflection of the Gundam (the MS, not the series) fanboy who loves to see the Gundam visiting destruction on faceless Zaku pilots. Meanwhile, the Zeon soldiers are used to show the ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Anyhoo, I cannot wait to see where this journey takes Kudelia from here on out as we have 7-8 episodes or so left. I can't see any way that this gets wrapped up in 8 ... so many loose ends, with new characters introduced today, Nobliss/McMurdo drama, no earth drop, and still haven't seen the Grimge...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

*MINOR* spoilers below Though Ep.17 plot was pretty close to what most expected, there were still some moments that made me genuinely smile: - Launching of Ryusei-Go - definitely giggled - Kudelia placing the necklace - she's about to take control - Intervention of the Rebake - too coincidental, but...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

That QUALITY Rebake in the PV... Looking forward to seeing it in action, looks like something out of CCA. Hopefully, Fumitan (and the female union worker) will push Kudelia to *finally* realize what's going on in the earth/outer spheres and will lead her to take on the mantle of "Maiden of Rev...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Also, a small crowd of armed men, backed up by three mobile workers, don't look particularly threatening when marching down such a broad avenue. I also LOLed at this ... as the perspective zoomed out, I thought "Revolution over with the single flick of a Graze's wrist." I think Dort 2's f...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Savarin has a valid point re: his desire to help those on Dort 2. But he is unfortunately just as naive as the union workers. If Gjallarhorn want a provocation, simply handing over Kudelia will not do the trick. Their desire to set an example has been in the works, and if it didn't happen here, it w...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

*thanks Ascension* Anyway, RE: the pace of character development, I am still hopeful that there will be some fracture in Mika/Orga's relationship that will push the story. Yes, we're halfway through the season, but Gurren-Lagann managed to do the 'adoring little brother' becomes the boss plot compel...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Though it's starting to get a *bit* heavy-handed, I do appreciate the explicit attention to the use of child soldiers. (Almost) every previous series uses child protagonists in a completely matter-of-fact way. I'll be curious to see if they tie this theme with the McGillis/Almiria relationship. Hope...
