Re: What is your Favorite Anime/Manga?
The first anime I ever watched was episode 2 of Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network. My wife was working at a place that had a kids' room for the children of clients and it caught my attention as I went by the room. I made it a point to pick her up the next day at that same time just to see episode 3. I ...

Re: nail polish remover and chrome
Some "removing agents" to try are (1) 100% denatured alcohol, which you would get in a hardware store (2) WD40, also from the hardware store (3) Hoppe's #9 powder solvent, from a sporting goods store and (4)if you can find it a cleaning solvent called 1,1,1 trichloroethane. I used trichlor...

Re: help on removing dry transfer decal
Try simply putting a piece of tape that has a good adhesive on it and lifting it off. If that isn't effective, you will have to hunt for a solvent that will undermine the decal adhesive without doing anything to the plastic. WD40 is the first one that comes to mind. Just use a little on a paper towe...

Re: Godzilla 2014
Just watched it .Looks awesome. I got a letter from the president of Legendary Pictures in reference to a Godzilla display I did in my local library about 2 years ago and he promised they would make a movie that all Big G fans would not only approve of but enjoy. Looks like Legendary Pictures could ...

Re: Mecha/Military Anime Recommendations
While it doesn't have much in the way of true mecha, an old anime called "Roughnecks" has a lot of great military action in it. It's actually a side story to "Starship Troopers", the old Robert Heinlein book, but it's MUCH better than the live action movie. While I haven't seen t...

Ender's Game movie
Thoughts anyone on the upcoming Ender's Game movie? When I saw the poster at the theater last weekend I got excited about it, but when I saw the previews moments later my enthusiasm was dashed. It appears the movie will be more of an exercise in special effects than a true telling of this great scie...

I have never painted poly caps, but I would think that the paint for flexible vinyl models would be the best thing to try.

I was especially impressed by the monsters because this is the studio that is working on the next Godzilla movie and I hope this is a foretaste of the quality of animation we will see in it.

Re: stunning MS and stopping power
As a court-qualified exterior ballistics expert, let me suggest a new angle for this discussion. Obviously, the small caliber projectiles from head-mounted guns would not have a stunning effect on a massive mobile suit (their value would be in penetration of the suit exterior), but the larger projec...

Re: Mobile Suit Gundam Posters
I noticed that no one has responded to your query, but I wanted to tell you that those are some very cool posters and that you should hang onto them. They were probably done by a graphic artist who took some "artistic license" with the colors, so I wouldn't worry about how accurate they ar...

Re: Comic Books (other than manga)
When the "New 52" DC comics came out, I subscribed, first, to Storm Watch, because that was where DC placed the Martian Manhunter, and then recently to the Justice League of America because they moved J'onn to that comic. Inevitably, DC reprinted some of the collections of Storm Watch from...

Re: Best clear coat for Painted Kits?
G-Slayer must be using too much Testors DullCoat if his experience is that it takes too long to dry. I remember one time I pulled an all-nighter using DullCoat on every piece and entered the diorama the NEXT MORNING only to win a first place! And this was in a contest run by a branch of the IPMS tha...

Re: Pacific Rim the movie (2013) - Guillermo del Toro
I saw the trailer in a movie theater over the weekend, so now I know how it will look on the big screen. It was a little on the dark and obscured side, but it was still as clear as most big battle scenes in sci-fi movies are and the sound was very good. I think it will be a great sci-fi action flic ...

Re: Best clear coat for Painted Kits?
I always use Testors paints because that is all that local stores carry and I hate to order paint through the mail. They have gloss and flat clear laquer and semi-gloss enamel (the enamel being hard to find, the laquers being plentiful). Although all the literature tells you not to put laquer over e...

Re: the dubbing discussion thread
I must watch anime in my native English or subbed because I don't speak Japanese. However, a friend gave me a copy of the first 00 episode that was subbed and I enjoyed the original voices so much that, once I "memorized" the dialogue, I watched it over and over without reading the subtitl...

Stuff about this flick is all over the net, but the most interesting site is nerdist.com where they have a discussion of the art connected with the film and there is a great small poster you can download. Re: G-Saviour - Looking back
Whenever I show Gundam at the public library I ALWAYS have people ask me to show G-Saviour and I have always liked it myself. I especially lament that more Gunpla from G-Saviour didn't hit the market. I think a lot of people who don't have critical movie taste buds enjoy G-Saviour, especially becaus...

Re: Gundam Blu-Ray question
I'm not certain "Unicorn" on blu-ray is going to drop in price. As it is coming out on DVD and sales on blu-ray don't seem to be that brisk, I think it may go the way of Ghost in the Shell's "Innocense" and eventually not be available on blu-ray but instead be a DVD product only....
