Re: What makes a good combat scene?
The short answer: it depends. Personally, as far as choreography is concerned, the combat scenes in Gundam that really stuck to mind are Norris Packard and the Gouf Custom versus the 8th MS Team, and the first episode of Gundam Unicorn. The former was grounded, gritty, yet beautiful, seeing one MS t...

Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Even with the stealth being 'downplayed', I wouldn't mind getting my hands on this. I do wish that it still remained a stealth game rather than an action game, but this still doesn't look too bad, either. That, and Platinum is involved, so I can't be upset with that.

Re: Should Katoki Redesign His EW Gundams?
Aesthetically speaking, I actually consider Wing ver. Ka to be an improvement over Wing Zero Ka. :P But, really, the only reason why I would bother seeing Wing Ka. be redesigned to look less similar to Wing Zero has less to do with aesthetics, and more to do with design history; unlike the other Gun...

Re: Should Katoki Redesign His EW Gundams?
I never thought the Shiron was an upgrade to begin with. I figured it was a retcon design to remove the Tallgeese that was Episode Zero, and for that, I like.

Re: Should Katoki Redesign His EW Gundams?
So this is the stuff I miss after being out of the series for a while. :P I also find that little to nothing about these new equipment should require the upgraded Gundams to be, well, 'upgraded', especially since most of the equipment come off as add-ons. The things I would rather see would be a tra...

Re: What's Your Current Anime? Mk III
Other than Gundam Unicorn, it was Mazinkaiser SKL. I'm simply impressed with the fact they managed to cram so much goodies in a mere three episodes.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk II
I personally do prefer the first episode over the second episode, but even then I was not disappointed. The Sinanju looks so pretty, be it in action or just pure eye candy. :) And as for the rest, even when Banagher was wasting his ammo on the beam magnum, the Unicorn still looked impressive against...

Re: Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty
At the very least, I'm now more likely going to wait a wee bit longer for Blizzard to sort out some of the kinks in the game before I make it a point to purchase it. I still take some issue with the region lock and the map publishing system.
That, and the need to eventually upgrade the computer.

Re: Street Fighter x Tekken
Kazuya and Nina at the very least look very good in their transition to the SF4 style. And poor Dan in the trailer. Thanks to the trailer and demo, I'm actually anticipating what Capcom and Namco will do in their respective cross series.

Re: Cinema Necromancy
I was also never really one of those 'OMG-mah-CHILHOOD' fans myself, especially going back to some of my old childhood cartoons. It's why unless these remakes are good, I care less about them. With the A Team, I only ever watched it because of Mr. T. :P My gosh, I could not stand watching GI Joe eve...

Re: G-Unit Gundams?
Not to mention the Geminass units had the space maneuver package. I'm comparing them to the upgraded gundams which were calibrated for space use for the final battle. The Geminass is still looking better IMO. It had higher thrust force and a similar weight reference than the DCH, which IIRC was the...

Re: G Gundam Thoughts
Really, when you got transforming windmills, a skinny Jack-in-a-box, an elephant, a skimpy schoolgirl, and a walking American cliche amongst the many other oddball designs complete with pilots shouting out their special attacks, and we're somehow talking about 'lack of seriousness'? Main character's...

Re: Iron Man II
Watched the movie last night. Loved it. Thought it was as good as the first. Main beefs with the film were Hammer being a blatant idiot, and Vanko beaten too quickly. I did like the fact we had some bigger explosions, Black Widow pretty much kicking all sorts of posterior, all the different armours ...

As I said, item in the trailer ended up in a way I never expected. Thus the bizarreness of it all. I've seen it and I was very amused.

Re: The Hydra Gundam?
That is certainly true. Fact is, Griepe and Hydra were both powerful machines, and you got at least one pilot in that fight who is quite skilled, while the other wasn't all that terrible (and certainly disciplined enough to eventually use yet another mind ripping system). When you look at both machi...

Re: The Hydra Gundam?
Actually, I was implying that it seems decidedly inferior to either machine. If Griepe could beat it (and Odin has significantly less experience than Heero or Zechs), the other two should have been able to eat it for lunch. Odin at that point, however, was no slouch, and had managed to master the P...

I won't be one of those who will import the game. I'm also one of those who isn't turned off by spoilers, so I took a peak. One of the items in the trailer you showed ended up in the game in a way I never expected. It was definitely a bizarre, twisted, and sad moment.

Re: What books are you reading?
Rereading Star Trek: TNG Q-Squared. I just like Peter David's style of writing, and I do like his take on Trelane. Man, Peter David kicks ZOINKS! He's my favorite Trek fiction writer, hands down. Have you checked out his New Frontier series? Very fun reading. Most definitely read some, if not all t...
