Re: GM Quel.

So what is the reason for the underuse of the GM Quel? Was it actually mass produced to start with? Was it too expensive(though that hardly seemed to stop the Titans before)? Or was it surpassed by later units? It was mass-produced, but because it was one of the Titans first new mobile suit designs...

Re: Rick Dias and Nemo

In a word? No . In more than a word? No, we're seeing basically the exact opposite . ... no, that's not what a block upgrade is. Block upgrades are (relatively) minor specification changes made between production lots to incorporate various refinements and improvements to onboard systems. Those cha...

Re: Rick Dias and Nemo

Eh... while that's not wrong, I feel like it's kind of missing the point. There's a difference between the pace at which advancements are being made and the actual significance of the advancements being made. What we see throughout the One Year War period is mainly lots of little incremental advanc...

Re: Rick Dias and Nemo

Honestly, I don't buy that rationale... at least not after the One Year War ended. Mainly, I reject that rationale because the defining advancements of the 2nd Generation Mobile Suits that were just beginning to enter service at the time of the Gryps conflict had nothing to do with Minovsky physics...

Re: Rick Dias and Nemo

How cheap is the Nemo actually? Because I wonder if it's so cheap, then why the GM III became the EFF's main fighting force during the First Neo Zeon War? It's very likely that the GM III is even cheaper than the Nemo, but I think there is also one factor (that also applied to the Rick Dias) that w...

Re: Rick Dias and Nemo

Would both the Rick Dias and Nemo be considered mass production units? The Nemo is the general purpose backbone of the AEUG, while the Rick Dias is more heavily built and armed. Would both units be given to the AEUG pilots, or would the Rick Dias be a limited commander/ace pilot unit? Like the othe...

Re: UC Gundam Mecha Naming Conventions?

Some of the early Zeon mecha names in the First Gundam series were originally Japanese in-jokes or slightly modified onomatopoeia. "Zaku", for instance, having been derived from 雑魚 ( Zako , lit. "small fry", "nobody", "unimportant person") as befitting its status as the enemy cannon fodder robot. T...

Re: UC Gundam Mecha Naming Conventions?

So this may be an odd question, but Tomino often seems to be known for using rather unique/unusual names for characters and mecha. Is it ever stated how he (or whoever at Sunrise comes up with mech names) decides on the name? i know some names are portmanteau names and others have roots in mytholog...

Re: Your favorite "frankenstein" machines?

Gundam + B parts ? various Zaku Tanks ? None are my favourite. Mine is probably Arcadia of Captain Harlock. That stern is just so out of place and laughable on a spaceship but also hits so right at the spot with that big cross skull in front. It just contains so many impractical things on it that I...

Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

here's hoping the MC is a female MS pilot. heck, we might even get some Yuri pair. i'm all for that~ Yuriism aside, the only example i can think of that has some peeps living on mercury is Sailor Moon. and that was the backstory/past. are there any other shows that heavily featured Mercury with a s...

Side 7 is mentioned in G-Saviour with no detail given.
It is still in L3 with Lunar II.

Re: Luna 2

Since Lunar II is always mentioned as the largest space base of EF, and you won't be able to compare if you only have one, you can safely assume there are others. The only problem is that we were never told it the others have been militarised. It seems like a base with its diameter larger than 180km...

The trick is that they're mobile fighters, not suits. If we really count everything, then SD Gundam is most unique, hand down
Objection, the JMS/MMS Zaku head in D Gundam might just be a tad more unique than SD Gundam.

Behind the scenes information about SEED

https://twitter.com/gakky1967/status/1438155356958429189?s=20 Jun'ya Ishigaki quoted a (now deleted) tweet by CHOCO (involved in Xenosaga, Xenoblade, Infinity Stratos, Busou Shinki, etc. designs, official site: http://chocolateshop-float.com/ warning: 18+). Re: The Official Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Anime Thread Mk I

Speculation on the works, since Doan's island is announced at the same time, which will be entertaining the UC fans, fanboys and fangirls(if any), I will guess this is another timeline. Wouldn't put my bet on it but surely hope so.

Re: The Official Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Anime Thread Mk I

I have found what I assume to be a screenshot from the presentation earlier which shows the character designs for both Amuro and Doan; which is almost-certainly ORIGIN-inspired to say the least. Well, considering Yasuhiko is the director, character designs would very likely be what his liking or ev...

Re: The Official Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Anime Thread Mk I

Official Website We know a bit more about this other new project: it will be a movie for a 2022 release to be directed by Yas himself. Still no indication whether it will be related to the five-volume ORIGIN spinoff manga of (almost) the same name that ran in Gundam Ace from 2016 to 2019. People no...

Re: Why the Guntank's tracks look like that?

Well, the Jagan Ground Type is note to be old and obsoleted by the time of Gundam Hathaway. So either use them for little odd jobs like a makeshift guard tower, or just throw them away. Also, maybe you guys should consider moving to Thailand. Military here really love buying impractical pieces of c...

Re: Why the Guntank's tracks look like that?

Looking at the E.F.S.F.'s attitude toward the "big gun" theory of naval warfare between 0080 and 0083, I honestly think that the Guntank II was some kind of gesture toward pleasing the "old guards" within the E.F.G.S. Basically after OYW, a lot of people would've had said': "Hey, our tanks will be ...
