Re: zeta gundam overrated?
I'm not sure where you got that idea, because it really doesn't align with Sunrise's management of Gundam 's AUs at all. Sunrise's approach to management of the Gundam franchise's AU titles could best be described as "one and done". They produce one story in that new alternate universe an...

Re: zeta gundam overrated?
While the original Mobile Suit Gundam was developed as a stand-alone series, the subsequent works developed in the Universal Century setting are fundamentally not so because they are sequels, prequels, and side stories which share that same setting and its history. They're in continuity with each o...

Re: zeta gundam overrated?
It might look that way in hindsight, but it's not quite accurate. Like the other AUs, Gundam SEED was developed and initially produced to be a one-and-done series. The show's unexpectedly strong viewership numbers and merchandise sales prompted Sunrise to quickly greenlight Gundam SEED Destiny as a...

Re: zeta gundam overrated?
I think the only setting they keep it going on aside from UC, albeit rarely animate, is SD Gundam Gaiden (although there was long pause after W). It help that the setting has pretty loose continuity with multiverse and such. But of course, SD is always a sideshow and never the main attraction by it...

Re: zeta gundam overrated?
They're meant to be one-and-done titles that introduce Gundam to new viewers with any who want more eventually gravitating towards other titles and ending up with the UC. They tried to make them longer titles at least some times, like SEED obviously is trying to have much more than one off from the...

Re: Is it possible the Hi-Mega cannon has 1/5th the power of a colony laser?
As for the beam output , that is hard to say. It's worth noting that both the Colony laser and the High Mega Particle Cannon are capable of destroying a colony (though at least the Argama uses an abandoned colony). Well, yes... though, to be fair, the UC-era space colonies are quite fragile and it ...

Re: Is it possible the Hi-Mega cannon has 1/5th the power of a colony laser?
It's not that it doesn't work, it's that it doesn't work well enough to be practical or efficiently enough to be economical. Remember, these amazing giant robots being used on the field of battle were built by the lowest bidder like every other weapon. Gundam has a rather unrealistic love affair wi...

Re: Is it possible the Hi-Mega cannon has 1/5th the power of a colony laser?
The higher power HMC for the FAZZ(79.8MW) has 10 shots before overheating, and S Gundam's BSG(56MW+) can also fire multiple times while in combat, even the Z+ C1[Bst] can support 2 BSG(50MW each). So yeah, the ZZ HMC(50MW) is definitely just a design flaw that can be taken care of with higher tech o...

Re: Exia Avalanche compatablity?
Can someone who already owns an HG Gundam Exia Amazong and a Gundam Exia Avalanche tell me how compatible the shoulders are? Namely, can the Exia Amazing shoulders physically fit inside the Avalanche boosters? Also if the answer is no and you have any suggestions for similar shoulders that would, t...

Re: Ecole du Ciel
You... kinda missed the point. Twice. The initial excuse for Ecole du Ciel being on hiatus was Macross the First , but once that ended up on hiatus Macross the First 's hiatus was occasionally attributed to Mikimoto going back to work on Ecole du Ciel . Especally when the content earmarked for the ...

Re: Ecole du Ciel
Ironically, the hiatus has occasionally been attributed to prioritizing work on Ecole du Ciel . Ecole du Ciel was held since 2008 with the exception of two chapters in 2010 and 2011 to finish of volume 12. Macross the First was only serialised since 2009 so the most Ecole du Ciel can mess with it's...

Re: Ecole du Ciel
Another fine product - or should I say casualty - of Haruhiko Mikimoto's extremely casual attitude towards deadlines. There was a time Macross fans used to joke that Softbank Creative were the worst ones when it came to deadlines, then Mikimoto-sensei one-upped them by making schedule slips for ann...

Re: The obscure mobile suits of an equally obscure game: SD Gundam Wars
Thanks for the link! Those are some nice quality sprites. I am shocked to see that the Federation adopted the giant wheel design from Zanscare with the Spirit Guntank  The strong Gundam resembles the large mobile armor from Kondo's Revival of Zeon manga, unfortunately I don't see it's coun...

If you want pictures: https://gbwn.main.jp/Unit_SDGW.htm The links are different category of units. Not lineart but coloured SD pictures as well as the in game sprites. Also, this is also released in Windows in 1998. BTW, the pictures are just included in the CD without encoding and easy to get.(exc...

Re: The Jegan A-Type's long beam rifle, and some ramblings about the Jegan line.
Also keep in mind that aside from a few exceptions Bandai-Namco games are known for churning out titles as quickly and cheaply as they can, not unlike EA with Madden or Fifa. I think they did a good job with 30 visually (although I agree with you, it's a waste of resources do redo animations from V...

Re: The Jegan A-Type's long beam rifle, and some ramblings about the Jegan line.
IIRC, GBA OG was more or less used to test yhe water. And it proved that while the it work, its sale is noticable lower than licensed series Well, I think at least they think it is a commercial success enough for a sequel. However, very likely only pretty hardcore fans liked the idea. I've never pl...

Re: The Jegan A-Type's long beam rifle, and some ramblings about the Jegan line.
Was part of the reason the "Original Generation" made, because of licensing? If Banpresto made their own units and characters then they would have the ownership over them. This is probably why the anime and OVA's focus only on their own characters and story(which themselves are quite well...

Re: The Jegan A-Type's long beam rifle, and some ramblings about the Jegan line.
IIRC, one of SRW's biggest problem is how licensing take away huge chunk of their fund. Despite being the best selling title, Alpha barely make any profit back then for that reason (thankfully, it acts as gateway series and lays the foundation of Alpha Gaiden, which is much cheaper to made and thus...
