Re: Dorvack and the mech genre
As a good general rule, a title so influential that it could be considered a metaphorical cornerstone of its genre would one that was so successful that its success inspired others to imitate it. You could make a reasonable argument that titles like Gundam or Macross were "cornerstone" ti...

Re: Refit of ships
So in various timelines (most notably UC and CE ) pre MS ship are Refitted to carry MS, so what exactly does a refit entail? Is it just rebuilding existing ships with hangars or do they also make new models of existing lines with these refits? We know during the OYW they refitted the Salamis and Ma...

Re: Metal and Volcanic Heat.
The best example that comes to mind is the duel at the climax of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith , where Anakin and Obi-wan spend quite a long time unprotected in extremely close proximity to a MASSIVE high-temperature lava flow without any protective equipment. They proceed to have their long, ...

Re: Metal and Volcanic Heat.
That's very different to the circumstances being discussed though. That's in open air, not an enclosed space, and after the molten rock has had a good chance to cool on contact with air. Even then, you can sustain severe burns without even touching the stuff and the heat can easily reach dangerous ...

Re: Metal and Volcanic Heat.
Having watched Layzner and Turn A Gundam Both series involve fighting in an enclosed space near magma . So the question is what effect would the magma have on the Mecha's armor or electronics? Granted some metal can avoid melting even in lava, but it still seems as though exposed joints Or in Layzn...

Re: Reconciling After Colony Stats question
TBH, I would not attempt to even try to reconcile the "ability level" scores from books like the Dengeki Data Bank book with what's said anywhere else. The meaning of the five stats they use - "Fighting Ability", "Weapon Ability", "Speed Ability", "Power...

Re: Reconciling After Colony Stats question
So you have various sources for After Colony mobile suits that seem to give wildly different ideas of what the Tallgeese is capable of, some say it can accelerate at over 15G or is it 20G. But then others still I believe merely say it can pull maneuvers that put 12G's of stress on the pilot(basical...

Re: Adding Obscure Mecha to games
Really, it depends far more on the audience than the game developer. Some fandoms - and some fans - are more ornery and detail-focused than others. Some fandoms are more laid back about the accuracy and completeness of materials, while others have enough sacred cows to start their own dairy farm. N...

Re: Adding Obscure Mecha to games
Depending on what game you are making. You are basically describing SRW back in the days, which love to add a few obscure anime from the genre and in turn make those become less obscure or even popular.(L-Gaim, Dunbine, Ideon are all similarly rather obscure at the time before being placed into SRW)...

(Also sorry if this looks awkward , I'm new to adding quotes) First, you use the "Reply with quotes" button(that's the only button I see but iirc there's also a simple reply button before so just in case) You can see a "[quote="person" post_id time..." part in the begi...

That's a more literal take on "history repeating itself" than I think the showrunners meant...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam
The Correct Century isn't cyclical itself, though... it's the breaking of a circle, the end to a self-destructive cycle that has been going on for so long that most of the details are simply lost to history. But if you think about it, being a cycle is a great explanation why G-Reco is both before a...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam
So the militia attacks the WaDom in episode 2, aside from calling them barbarians (野蛮人) Poe doesn't mention anything about an I-Field or vibrations, same with Loren. While the militia shot at the WaDom the bullets had an interesting animated effect where they hit the armor seemed to swirl. To me th...

I recall it is pretty early, likely the first time Wadom appeared.Underrated GM Custom wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 1:10 pm
Interesting, I can rewatch a few episodes to locate that scene. Do you recall if it was in the beginning episodes or around the middle? Any other mobile suits or vehicles present?

Re: Freeden II - Beam Deflection Field
True, I've read that some kits do have weapons that never actually appear in animation, granted there could be several factors in that, the model and animation units had miscommunication, the show was cut short, or maybe the model is based on a earlier drat that had some weapons removed in the fina...

Re: Freeden II - Beam Deflection Field
I was on the Gundam wiki looking for a screenshot of the Freeden II and I noticed they listed it as having a "Beam Deflection Field Generator". I don't recall that from the show, and I didn't see that info mirrored on the MAHQ profile. When I checked the wiki talk page they mentioned the ...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam
I don't recall any of the I-Fields in the show necessarily blocking physical projectiles? Also you mentioned an I-Field on Turn A's shield, is that confirmed in the kit manual? iirc it happened on the Wadom, the effect is a vibration and missiles are just ineffective, and Loran said it is I-Field. ...

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam
In earlier episodes, probably Rolan doesn't know there's an I-Field on Turn A, he still uses the shield's I-Field.

Re: Capabilities of the Turn A Gundam
I noticed this as well, after the broken mustache episode is started to repair faster and faster. It also appeared as though the Turn A's general performance improved as well, possibly it was sluggish after it's long interment and after enough time the nano machines restored all its internal functi...

Re: Expanded Universe Details?
Now, I'm not as familiar with Slayers as I am with other properties... but I do know that the Slayers franchise treated the different versions of the story in different media formats as essentially separate, self-contained takes on the story. I'm not able to find anything on a quick survey of what ...
