Re: Power Rangers Skips a Season

I haven't seen Go-Busters but have seen most of Kyoryuger, but I wonder...might the former end up being something akin to an Alien Rangers situation? You know...where the suits/Rangers are part of the lore, but only showed up for a short time as allies to the main team. It would explain why they're ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk III

No surprise here, but I fangirled like crazy at the beginning when we saw young Mao building things in a room with various Gundam X posters on the wall (a real poster that I've seen around with Garrod and Tiffa on it, then the original 1/100 HG box art for the GX and Virsago). This kid is a true fan...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk III

Am I the only one seeing the scenes with Ral as almost a way of subtly flipping the bird at all those people who keep drawing all the show's female characters with ridiculously oversized and round butts pointed at the viewer (and that I have to keep blocking on Tumblr)? Or is my cynical feminist sid...

(Also...woo, Octape in the next episode preview! I'm getting the feeling that someone on this show is a big Gundam X fan with how many different suits from it are making appearances...)

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mark II

Build Fighters bust size chart. I'm sorry, but this is just tacky and sad and says a whole lot about some of the people watching this show (as if the ridiculous amounts of hentai "art" I've already had to block on Tumblr hasn't said enough), not to mention that it says a lot about Gundam ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mark II

Even if the Double X and the G-Bits got completely curbstomped, that whole fight had me howling with laughter. I just about fell out of my chair when I first saw its "pilot" too. Bless you, Build Fighters, for showing so much love towards Gundam X. You know how to make this fangirl happy. ...

I'm probably about the only one who giggled at the very brief cameo of the Septem from Gundam X showing up during that old-timers Gunpla battle.

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

Where do people keep getting the idea that Gundam X was competing against Evangelion? Eva started in '95, while GX started in April '96. There might've been a small overlap of the former wrapping up as the latter was getting started, but they weren't competing.

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk. I

Well, how about that? Maybe they finally realised that the debacle with AGE and locking us out was a bad idea. Or something. I can't make any sense of what Sunrise wants to do about us non-Japanese/non-Asian folks anymore. Still, I'll be more than glad to be able to support it legally. Though while ...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

^ This is my hope as well. I'm thrilled that Build Fighters is featuring a modified GX when they could've easily pulled from any of the other AU series like G or 00 instead (since SEED and Wing are already being represented), and I'm even more pleased that the HGAW Double X is among the first kits t...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

The Bertigo is easily one of my favorite non-Gundam mobile suits of all time (and I hate that we've never gotten any real model kit for it, because it's one I'd really like to have). It's got those sleek curves, but it's still incredibly imposing with its big shoulders. I too would compare it more t...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

^Ennil does get better from here, fortunately, and her later arcs are part of why she's become one of my favorite non-Gundam mobile suit pilots. Episode 20 and beyond really do a lot to develop her. Don't know why I didn't get back to this thread sooner, but eh. Last note: Speaking of the Alternativ...

Re: Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk. I

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't care how much of a disaster this show is if this means we're finally going to get some good new kits of suits like the Double X, F91, and V2. Also, I'm really digging that custom GX that's supposed to be in this that ANN has pictures of ... [/one-track-mind]

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

I've never really liked the translation of that title as "I don't like it." It's actually quite inaccurate as far as translations go, and almost a little out-of-character for Sala; the better, more in-character one would be "This is unacceptable" (which is what I personally used ...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

^ I think this is a really good point. Many people here in the West are still very quick to judge all Gundam using Wing as their standard, largely because of the nostalgia factor, and I think that can hurt how they view the rest of the franchise as a whole. We can go over this over and over, but we ...

Re: Official After War Gundam X Thread

(Oh hey, someone brought this thread back after a full year. Awesome! :) ) I know that Wing did well and pulled in a lot of female viewers especially, but I didn't think it was the mega-hit it was here in the States? I might be misremembering something, though I swear I heard that it was more middle...

Re: Gundam X up for voting! (for official streaming release)

^ I'm pretty sure I saw Endless Waltz on a previous survey, so that's probably why it's not on this one. Although I wonder why they'd list titles that they're already offering as part of this survey? Like the Gundam series that are already there, or Madoka, or stuff like that. My best guess is that ...

Re: Stuff You Can't Believe You Just Figured Out

^ Tangentially related, I did quite the double-take when I was watching Kyoryuger a while back and realise that Torin, the team's bird mentor, is voiced by Morikawa Toshiyuki, best known for voicing Sephiroth in the more recent Final Fantasy games and Shagia Frost in Gundam X. Now it's impossible to...

Re: Sunrise in talks for more license rescues!

^ I want to see (hear?) Stephanie Sheh in more Gundam dubs, because I like her as Mineva in Unicorn (and the voice she used for Eureka in Eureka Seven is pretty much exactly what I envision for a dubbed Tiffa in Gundam X). But that wouldn't happen if Funimation got their hands on the franchise, beca...
