Re: Victory Gundam
Not really, there is no chance of Odelo being Uso's biological brother because both of them were there when hangelb first appeared, and since hangelb is only Uso's father... But it's true, both developed what is probably the most close and real to life camaraderie in the franchise. I would have like...

Re: Gundam cliches you could do without?
I was trying to demonstrate how you could convert gundam trademarks into something different from the norm, to refute the argument "without them it wouldn't be gundam". Although I should have explicitly referred to the masked rival, protagonists side is good and there is only a fight betwe...

Re: Victory Gundam
Victory's animation is sometimes rushed but those moments are rare (10 or 15 in the entire series?). I never cease to be amused with the wild backgrounds, though. Like when outer space switches from pitch black with dotted stars to blue/green with flying triangular galaxies whenever they are fightin...

Re: Gundam cliches you could do without?
I would actually go for a more prequel vibe, maybe set on UC but really it could be aplied to almost any alternate universe. For example, what if there wasn't an earth federation but several Earth based sides with space facilities? And that the conflict between said sides led to the formation on an ...

Re: Victory Gundam
Chroni(o?)cle Asher, despite how underused and out of focus he was, is also one of nicest char clones considering how he routinely goes about honor and principles and even his personal beef with uso is due to him trying to defend katejina (despite how misguided he was). Really, isn't he like the onl...

Re: Newtypes and their place in Gundam
Something I haven't seen anyone mention yet. The original reason why Tomino created the concept of Newtype was to justify why the federation would allow amuro to pilot the gundam, despite his very young age (even in the novels), rather than replace him with someone more experienced. In other words, ...

Re: Female Characters: Which Gundam series does the BEST job
And Seed Destiny. In fact, I have trouble thinking of a single decent female character there - and no, "Darth" Lacus doesn't count, she's as mary-sue as anyone can get.

Re: Victory Gundam
I think you are referring to gira (blew himself up with grenade), but that isn't due to uso being a child, it has more to do with his own pride... Think about it, he was the leader of this series black tri-stars (yes, really), and in a single day he found out that one of his subordinates was a cowar...

Re: Female Characters: Which Gundam series does the BEST job
I like the ZZ cast, but really, in this area, no other series has anything on X and Turn A. In terms of Tomino series, I think he really didn't understand women enough to write them well until a bit later in his career. I would also include Victory. Sure the shrike team was slaughtered, but so were...

Re: Victory Gundam
I believe that scene was Tomino's idea, but it does make sense in context: First, Katejina had taken over the gedlav squad protecting the halo, which happened to be composed entirely of women (then again I heard that there are problems with mixed gender squads due to the males overprotecting the fem...

Re: Victory Gundam
We could also consider that the beam weapons are more powerful than in CCA, ZZ and zeta meaning that they overheat the reactor much faster and trigger a violent explosion instead of a leak that incapacitates the reactor. In show, that is even the reason why conventional weaponry even exists, since i...

Re: Victory Gundam
I re watched episode 38 (the one that ends with the north cost burned) and it wasn't due to the core explosions, that was because of the stay shots striking a fuel tanker. Supposing that that wasn't what you were referring to, could it be that you're mixing the core explosions from a 15 meter mech w...

Re: OYW Population Figures
It's at about the 28:55 mark, when Riddhe is arguing with Mineva on the Garuda; the line is "regardless of how twisted this world has become, ten billion people still live in it". That is more sensible since there are people on earth, on the colonies, on mars and in jupiter, but once agai...

Re: Victory Gundam
Not to mention we lost the best character introduction, that is a 13 year old landing by parachute on a flying mobile suit, open the cockpit from the outside while upside down, fight hand to hand with the char clone trained by the military , taking over said suit underwater and then fighting with it...

Re: Victory Gundam
From the design perspective, it's notable the effort to introduce new blood to the big productions, namely hajime katoki and Junya Ishigawa who despite being in their late 20's/early 30's did a pretty good job. Of course, perhaps they did their job was a bit too well, because their deceptively simpl...

Re: Victory Gundam
On the technical side of things beam rotors even make more sense because they are an add-on to mobile suits developed in space. After all, transforming a mobile suit doesn't increase it's amount of thrusters, at most they would point the verniers at the same direction making it good for straight lin...

Re: OYW Population Figures
But such an insane amount of immigration would have left the Earth Surface completely deserted, and would require quite a few more colonies... I'm thinking that Unicorn's writer just watched CCA and based himself from that, rather than any official statistics.

Re: Victory Gundam
I would note that Victory is very much character centric in that it focuses exclusively on the main characters and their experiences, although this has the downside of not giving a good insight into the overall political and military strategy of the warring factions. As a result, I feel that the Lea...

Re: Gundam Protagonist you Consider the Best
Playing a bit of devil's advocate here, since he's far from being my favorite protagonist over all of gundam, but I would say that that Shinn is the most compelling seed protagonist (although Sven is much better developed ), due to the way that he tries to take control over his emotions and ultimate...

Re: Victory Gundam
It's not a matter of cost. The advantage of not having to refuel is not needing logistical support, so it would be possible to infiltrate a small team of mobile suits deep into enemy territory. It also means that you barely need any land bases, since the only thing they are needed for is to house th...
