Re: Practicality of Seatbelts in Zero Gravity

So would seatbelts be considered at all practical on a zero gravity spaceship/mobile suit? Absolutely, yes. There are a variant of seat belts on space shuttles now; and it certainly seems like there would be a use, especially in battles. Yet we only rarely see them within MS (Most notably the infla...

How exactly does the Jesta tie in to all of this?
The Jesta's a high-spec derivative of the Jegan made to operate in support of the RX-0.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

I've read that there is also a short Frontier movie "Labyrinth of Time" released alongside second Delta movie. https://macross.fandom.com/wiki/Macross_Frontier_Short_Film:_Labyrinth_of_Time Seto, do you have any knowledge what it is about? As I was unfortunately not able to travel to Japan to see t...

Re: Does Rezel have reactor in its leg?

I thought that one of the thing that made the Zeta special was how they put the reactor and thermonuclear jet engines in its legs? And it was also a pain in the ass to do? I think I've read that the Re-GZ has these things too, but since the ReZEL took more after the Methuss, I doubt it has them. AF...

Re: Gundam Side Material?

Novelizations of TV-original anime tend to go into more detail and offer more continuity nods than the TV anime or the compilation films do. They're not essential by any means, but for die-hard fans they often offer a bit of added value to the existing story.

Re: First Autonomous Mech?

Side question, is that what triggered Issac Asimov to write about the 3 laws of Robotics? One specific permutation of the theme, yes. In his notes in the 1964 collection/anthology The Rest of the Robots , Asimov partly credited the inspiration for the Three Laws of Robotics and his story I, Robot t...

Re: First Autonomous Mech?

So looking on the Macross Mech Manual FB page, there's a discussion about autonomous(or drone as they're now known) planes in Macross, which date to the franchises beginning in the early 80s. It's worth noting there that the QF-3000 Ghost and its retconned-in predecessors were not truly autonomous ...

The leg structure is the same as the Zeta's, so presumably yes?

Re: Question regarding Heavy Metals

This isn't quite right. Nagano had little to nothing to do with L-Gaim's plot and characters and mecha beyond the design of their looks. However, he became obsessed with L-Gaim, which is why he wrote Five Star Stories, to be HIS version of it so he can add all the details and stuff he liked. No, it...

So its established that numerous characters (Euerka, Holland, Talho, Hilda) and the Gekko , Nirvashes , and Devilfish are stolen from the Federation, but its never stated how Gekkostate got the Terminuses. Did the Geko have the prototypes on board when it was stolen? Did Hilda and Matthieu bring th...

Re: Macross Plus original plan?

So I've heard in several places that the Macross Plus OVA was not actually supposed to be part of the Macross franchise initially, that it was a separate project Kawamori came up with that was reworked into a sequel. So is this actually true? Yes, this fact is well attested-to in official materials...

Re: 08th MS team Norris' sensor scan and Minovsky particles

I've been wondering about MS sensors and this scene in particular for a long time. We know that sensors and optics are, generally speaking, limited to visual range, with some exceptions. We know that sonar works (hover trucks), thermal works, and MS have some kind of motion/proximity detection and ...

That just makes him ending up in Delta Squad in movie 2 every more baffling. I know, right? Bogue Con-vaart was far and away the most vocal Aerial Knight when it came to hating humans, the New UN Gov't, the members of Tactical Sound Unit Walkure, and ESPECIALLY Freyja. The second movie had better h...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

What I want to make with the Star Wars comparison is about the feeling of directionless of these sequels. All three of them feel like jumbled mess created by too many people with too many different visions of what they want to make. And when the deadline was about to come, they panicked and threw e...

That kind of thing is more the domain of the super robot and tokusatsu shows. Beast King GoLion (known in the US as Voltron ) is probably one of the best-known examples. Raideen is one of the older examples in the super robot genre, being a humanoid robot that can transform into a bird. Panzer World...
