Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
So... I, uh, have too much time on my hands, apparently.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
The problem is that the entire point of Haro is to show how brilliant Amuro is. He built a robot, ostensibly for his friend Fraw Bow (probably in place of his company, since he's too busy with other projects). If you take that away, it means Amuro is just a normal kid before he gets into a Gundam.

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
It doesn't change the fact that thunder doesn't hit you. There's no bolt of thunder. Not a single human being has ever died being hit by thunder. It's lightning. Lightning bolt. And if the electric discharges are creating an effect, it's going to look like lightning. Thunder doesn't look like anythi...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I
I've never even heard of Gundam Thunderbolt! Crossbones or even Zeta Define would make more sense. But whatever, I'm a sucker for the UC. I'll watch it. By the way, there's no such thing as a "thunderbolt". Lightning bolts. Thunder is just sound. You can't have "thunderbolts". Th...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I just assumed that Amuro built Haro, and then after the war they made hundreds of them as a way of honoring the OYW's greatest hero. Thus why they have the names of Amuro and Bright programmed into them. If Haro is a mass-produced toy from Day 1, then why does anyone care that Amuro Ray owned one? ...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
So, I saw the new episode this morning. $6.99 for one language track still seems silly expensive to me, but the legal alternative (buying the discs) is even more insanely expensive. FFS, Bandai, why are you so greedy? But let's put that aside. Episode 2 was as interesting as the first one. Jimba Ral...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I think it was kind of "understood" that Astraia would have to be a sacrificial lamb so that the kids weren't pursued with any intensity after they escaped because she could always be used against them if they rose up.
At least, that's what I extrapolated, but I could be mistaken.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I'm pretty sure Degwin ordered Gihren and his other children to let go of the matter of Jimba Ral and the Deikun children, to be magnanimous in the face of their victory, because it might otherwise look childish (echoing Kycilia's earlier justification to Sasro about letting Ramba Ral take the Deiku...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I think Casval is probably more like eight or nine, since he was apparently born in 0059 according to sources I've seen. But Kycilia says he's "only 11 like our Garma" (at least the subtitles say this) in this first episode. Is Kycilia just stupid or does Yas have different birth dates for...

Well, Kycilia is supposed to be what, 13? 14? Only a little older than Casval! And she looks like she's in her twenties at least!
Yas can't do age.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I'm not sure how I feel about Casval getting some kills as a child. On the one hand, it's kind of awesome, but on the other, come on, he's 10 or 11. It almost feels like it was inserted to give Casval more to do in his back story. Still pretty cool, I just wish he hadn't gotten blood on his hands un...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Just spent another $7 for the English version, and yeah, pretty good. It owes a lot to Kirk Thornton and Wendee Lee. Liam O'Brien was good as Gihren, though he didn't have many lines.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
There'll be a more affordable, regular edition, but that's likely to be as expensive of a volume of Gundam Unicorn. Which I think is still too expensive.
You can rent it on Daisuki, at least.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Who's to say they won't do a full adaptation of the OYW material from The Origin at some point? They started with this because it's never been animated, and it serves as a perfect advertisement for the manga, teasing people with what they haven't seen so they have a reason to read a story they've al...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I just finished watching the first episode, having rented it for $6 on Daisuki. Just a few thoughts, unorganized: - I don't know who comes off more crazy, Zeon Deikun or Jimba Ral. Those two were extremely overwrought and paranoid. But to be fair to Jimba Ral, people actually WERE out to get him, an...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VII
I managed to snag a Blu-Ray volume 7 from The Right Stuf just before they ran out (it's shipping now). Honestly, I hate myself a little for paying that much for all of this, but I'm one of these obsessive types who can't have a hole like that in my collection. I may pass on The Origin, though, unles...

I don't know, I'd say Sayla had some problems, too. She was wound way too tight, even making Bright seem easy-going.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I always kind of pictured Daikun as being a rabble-rouser, but ultimately one with an earnest, well-meaning passion, who had all his faculties. But apparently Yas sees him as a pretentious, nearly unhinged political firebrand who sees himself as a martyr. Which, to be fair, he kind of was. No wonder...

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
I hadn't gotten far enough into the manga for this flashback. Is Zeon Zum Daikun supposed to have been a lunatic? No wonder the wrinkled potato man had him killed, I think even Giren wasn't so over-the-top. He did say he was exhausted from working on his speech, so maybe he was so burnt out he was g...
