Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk I
I thought the mech animation looked great, but it suffers from Tomino's very televisual directorial style - the pizza-slice views of the pilots interrupting the action, as well as the harsh zooms onto frames; making them look all low-res and choppy. Also had that fairly shoutey, rushed feel to it. B...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk I
I know we aren't meant to spend too much time talking about the possible connections to CC, but does no one else find it significant that this is a sequel to UC involving a Space Elevator in South America? Remember the episode of Turn A in South America? With the Aztec like people? And the ruins of ...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VI
My thoughts probably will not be completely coherent having only finished the ep a few minutes ago and being quite sleep deprived, but here they are in a rough stream of consciousness manner First 30 or so mins so rushed. The grunt action is good and looks pretty but lacks any tension (a problem wit...

Geez, that was insane. Not in a good way either. What happened to this show.

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga
You guys are anti-fun, more mecha and more action is all I care. And the people in charge don't seem to care about continuity/plot holes/etc as much as we do anyway... Not to go too into semantics but I don't think wanting good plotting, and caring about the minutiae of canon and plot-holes are rea...

Do we know when the streaming will be? For the other volumes it was the same date at theatrical screenings but the PV's just say that it's coming soon.

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk IV
Thanks Deacon for the Carl translation now I can safely say what will happen down in Earth in OVA 7: Martha will take over the Colony Laser trigger using the Carls but Kai Shiden will appear with a Zeta Plus A1 squad to arrest/stop her. Would Kai really have the power to do that? He's not a member ...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VI
People have no idea how rushed/troubled UC production is... They literally finished a single BR hours before the advanced showing of OVA 4. You can chalk that up to the whole Earth arc being butchered and part of the staff having fun inserting all those cameos like the Gouf FT that doesn't even get...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk I
I like the look of the series and I'm hoping for the best but wow that is a poorly constructed trailer. Same shot of the gundam shown twice in fairly close proximity and then an incredibly awkward zoom which that frame was clearly not designed for, making the Gundam look all derpy.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
Well personally I find it impossible to get invested in any action scenes, mecha or not, without at least somewhat interesting story or characterisation. In the case of Gundam I just think it's the case where I find the setting more enticing than the mech action. But to each his own.

Animation looks much more impressive than previous entries. FA Unicorns armaments seem to be getting wasted real early.

Re: The Official Gundam The Origin Anime Thread Mk I
As someone who's main interest in Gundam is the setting and politics, and who was mainly interested in The Origin for this material, I'm pretty ecstatic about this news. But c'mon guys, you gotta be pretty naive if you think this is all The Origin is gonna be. For one I just read volume 5 and I don'...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VI
I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this, and I haven't checked for sure, but I just realized that Gundam Unicorn might end up nearly as long in run time as previous Gundam OVA series, even though it's less "episodes." I figure each episode is 2 episodes long, with some longer than that li...

Re: Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk. I
Watching the trailer with subs this time, it confuses me. We have magic particles that react with Gunpla plastic (what about the various other products made for said types of plastic?) and we're told the result creates battles that don't use CGI or special effects....so where are these occuring? Is...

Re: Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk. I
Seems like good news to me. I like that they are using a wide array of mobile suits. So cool to see the SUMO get some screentime in that trailer. I am curious about what format the Origin will be, but good to hear they are still mentioning its existence. So right now not the end of the world but not...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Anime Thread Mk VI
Well on the same topic but avoiding the Loni controversy, a big part of me just wishes they kept the majority of the action in Dakar rather than Torrington. Seeing the Shamblo marauding through the streets of that city in the manga like a Kaiju, and Federation pilots using apartment blocks and stuff...

That seems like a difficult thing to buy, I imagine the EF still has to tax and administer these colonies.Zinegata wrote:Well, given that Mark mentioned before that Minovsky particles may actually be persistent, it's not too far a stretch to believe large areas of space are not monitored by the EF.

Re: Language in Gundam Unicorn
It seems we're meant to assume English is the official language in UC. English is also used by the Unicorns OS in Episode 1, but I'm mainly basing this on two things: In the prologue to the first novel there is a line about how Siams country (somewhere in central asia) began being pressured to accep...

Re: Gundam: The Origin Preorders
Wow! I haven't read my copy yet, but wow! That's a lot of errors. I'm really happy that the Origin is getting a nice release here (the quality of the book itself is amazing), but I can't believe they made so many errors. Hopefully with Deacon's help and further research, this can be fixed with the ...
