Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Popping in to post about Edmonton, the setting for this final arc of the show. Edmonton is a real-life city, capital of the Canadian province of Alberta, and my old hometown. Believe me, I was quite surprised when they mentioned even going there in the first place, and then when the city itself pull...

Re: The Macross Valkyrie Thread

One is pretty clearly derived from the YF-19 series. Excellent, the Messiah was all cool and everything but I've been missing this classic. The other is new, and Kawamori has returned to using real aircraft as inspiration as this one has lines lifted from the Saab 35 Draken. http://www.aircraftinfor...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk

I think some are being confused with the different Barbatos configurations on display. Of the 1:144 models on display, there's with the round shoulder armor and a sword, one without any shoulder armor at all and a mace/spear weapon, and another with angular grey shoulder armor and some sort of shiel...

Re: The Official G-Tekketsu Anime Thread Mk I

The look is great. I have oodles of respect for Okawara, but it's high time for a new take after all the Build Fighters designs, Reconguista aside. I share everyone's observations on the waist, which was one of the first things I noticed once it was revealed. Making an affordable gunpla of that desi...

Anyone watched Nobunaga the Fool? Thinking of jumping in on it. Mecha designs by Shoji Kawamori are almost always a good sign, but I've been fooled before... :P

Re: Mecha on flying platforms

Well, we use skateboards, surfboards and such where we're much taller than the height of the platform we're riding on. True that they have a stable base, but I'm willing to accept that in general the future will allow lift, hover and attitude control sufficient enough for a 75-ton MS to ride and man...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Mecha Thread Mk I

How about a fluid discussion about the physics of the "water balls" seen this week? How does ANY of what we saw make sense in the context of the show? I was admittedly buffaloed by this technology, and that apparently whatever it is wasn't really seen as out of place at least by the pirate...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Mecha Thread Mk I

Whither the beam shields? After 30+ years in UC service, has it been realized that nothing beats a good ol' slab of metal to defend yourself with? Perhaps all beam weapons in this era are VSBR / GBRD enabled such that anyone even bothering to defend with beam wouldn't stand a chance? We've seen a st...

Re: Power Rangers Skips a Season

Well, they managed to stretch Samurai over two seasons, so doing the same with Dino Charge should be easy enough and allow them to maintain a year buffer ahead of the Sentai series of the day... I understand that GoBusters will still be used somehow, probably with whatever crossover movie footage th...

Re: Attack on Titan

And then when you get to the eternal stretches of story arcs that follow in the middle, go BACK to episodes 4-6 and remember how awesome it can be. :P I did like this show a lot, but the pacing is certainly off in many places. I understand that they're pretty much forced to stop at this point as the...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Anime Thread Mk. I

I watched the first episode and quite liked it. Functionally it combines the kid-battle style anime that is popular with the younger target audience nowadays (Pokemon, Beyblade, ad infinitum) with a lot of classic Gundam elements, while heaping TONS of in-jokes and references to past animes of the f...

Re: Create the next Gundam TV Series

I'm a veteran of the GML, we NEVER had quote wars in those days... :P Obviously I don't want to have the thread closed as I think speculation is fun and submitting ideas for discussion is worthwhile, especially for a long-lasting franchise like Gundam. What I'd like to see: 1. A mixed-gender ensembl...

Create the next Gundam TV Series

AGE is over. Long live Gundam AGE. But now's the time to start wondering about the next TC series to grace our fansubbed screens. What will it be about? Who will be the star pilot? How many Gundams will there be in it? And who would design them? I'm throwing this out to all of us here - what would Y...

Re: GPO-2 Backup Weapons....

I'd always been wondering if the GP02 could've carried a second warhead if need be. In the first episode, they showed Nina loading the warhead and its booster into the Gundams backpack first, and THEN she moved it to the actual bazooka where the parts were assembled. The backpack is thus empty. In t...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk II

I can't remember if we have any production numbers for some of these GMs. GMIIs should be relatively plentiful, but GMIIIs and Nemos were wartime production machines. I never got the impression that they'd arisen in large numbers beyond whatever we saw on screeen. More than dozens perhaps, but hundr...

Re: The Official Gundam Unicorn Mecha Thread Mk II

Zeta movies aside, Unicorn is the first production in many years to actively mix all these older suits together like this - in combat no less. I think it's great to see these older machines didn't simply disappear in their production times - GMIIs and Nemos mixing it up with newer suits where CCA sh...
