Re: Ep. 187 - Thermopylae Revisited

Seems like I'm totally of one mind with Soul Bro on this series. Also his stamp at the end where he says he wants to see new things done with Gundam. I'm with you there. It's not a perfect series and it does start the lose it at the end. Still I feel like a lot of the criticisms of the series are mo...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

No probably not. I just wanted to point out to sdwoodchuck that death as a senseless and abrupt thing is a common theme for most of the classic Gundam shows. In fact it was always my understanding as a fan that this exact thing was suppose to be the big takeaway from Gundam. Violence begets violence...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Hahahaha, wow, the writers really did get completely lost this season, and barring some last episode miracle, are limping, tripping, and stumbling across the finish line. That is a really sad outcome for a series that actually had better writing for most of its run than a lot of recent efforts. Sec...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

I do worry about Admoss considering how ruthless Rustal is being with this clean up operation, but I would think he'd need more than just Kudelia's ties to Tekkadan to take her down without a public backlash. I guess we'll see. Considering the high body count maybe we should take a poll and see what...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Much of this episode was spent on what Orga means to Mika so they are really drawing a line under that. I can't wait to see what they do with that because I'm still guessing where this is going. It seems like a blaze of glory ending is the most straight line ending at this point. I know I should kno...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Continuing the Kudelia discussion, people seem to be weirdly conflating "getting things done" or "accomplishing goals" with character development. The majority of her screen time in Season 1 is a bunch of "am I doing the right thing" self doubt, which is anime easy-mod...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Then he has more of a reason not to criticise Tekkadan members like Hush and Dane who have nothing, Dane was a killer and Hush saw his friend kill himself, Akihiro was taken away from his family by space pirates and became human debris, Biscuit not only lost his parents but lost his brother too , A...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Well, in any case, If Rustal being the actual big bad is considered a "failure" by the writers, then I would say it won't be the first; They've failed to develop Kudelia, Hush, Julietta among others as anyone of significance when they have shown great potential to be interesting character...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Well to be fair we have every indication that Tekkadan is marching toward their deaths. It's not unreasonable to want to flee, but for many of the Tekkadan boys they feel like there is no where for them to go and/or they don't want to abandon their Tekkadan family. Zack appears to have a life outsid...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

What an F-ed up episode. Tekkadan's only glimmer of hope was to run away and erase their identities. Then at the end it looks like they can't even achieve that. Again Mcgillis just kind of looks on and smiles. Is he delusional at this point or does he have some sort of plan. I'm not sure I have enou...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Hush noted that Atra seem to be changed though not exactly how.I bet she's already conceive. From the preview, look like they will manage to land on Mars anyway, likely thank to Kudelia. Long time lurker, small time poster. But I was literally just about to point out about Hush saying that Atra see...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

You definitely do get the sense that as tacticians Mcgillis and Orga are out classed by Rustal. Yeah it was a sneaky moment that turned the tide of battle, but at the same time it felt like Mcgillis never planned for it to come to this, which makes this situation seem all the more desperate for the ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

well F. I think that's the only way to react to that episode. To it's credit I can see this show resolving a bunch of different ways at this point. I really wonder how this is going to end considering this feels like the climax right now I think we still have quite a few episodes left, which is inte...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Despair coming from Mika sounds strange. I mean if he was ever going to despair you'd think he would have done it before now. It would have to be Orga dead to really phase Mika IMO. I mean he's the only person that Mika is truly anchored to right now. I doubt Hush getting killed would phase him all ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Tekkadan's role in this is the same as it's always been. They are tools like you said. That's been a reoccurring theme in the series. I'm wondering if that is going to tie into their final arc for the series. Ever since they sold themselves to Teiwaz and then allied with Mcgillis they've pretty much...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Oh, there's plenty wrong with modern anime, but that's not something I can say much for, as I've mostly been absent from watching any since around '13. What I've seen in the past 4 years since then hasn't goaded me into picking anything new up, either. My viewing has been pretty sparse except for G...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

Well I realize the first season wasn't perfect. I guess it's hard to defend it against those criticisms. That said most of the complaints seem to be targeting the first season. Can I assume you guys think so far season two is on the right track? I know it's not over yet so they could still drop the ...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

I guess those pacing problems in season 1 never really bothered me. I said as much when I posted in the forum back when it was going on and I still think it's true now. I kind of liked the relaxed pace of the first season, and I appreciate the much more hurried pace of the second season. I am critic...
